Was excited about a new Persian restaurant/ fast food place in McLean, but I am disappointed! There is no sign when you enter where you need to order, very confusing when a few parties enter at the same time. The first take out order, lids were loosely placed and large containers were put on top of smaller ones which led to the bottom ones to open and make a mess. The food is mediocre, Ghormeh Zabzi was just oil added to dried vegetables, tasted awful! You can do better! read more

We already been to this restaurant twice this week. We had mouth watering salmon Kabob on salad with bread and yogurt dip on our first visit. Tonight my husband had beef chenjeh kabob combo with koobideh that was delicious, I loved the Thursday daily special that was Zereshk polo with 1/2 Chiken. The meals are prepared from best quality, fresh and healthy ingredients. The prices are definitely worth it. It was excellent quality meal for not much money. I highly recommend Maman Joon Kabob for eat-in or carry out. Highly recommend Thus restaurant. read more

There are a good amount of middle eastern kabob restaurants in the DC area, but this one specifically is the best one! The reason I say this is the food is freshly made as soon as you order it and is made with love from the friendly and caring staff members. The location and hours are convenient too. If you are a smart consumer, I would definitely give this restaurant a try soon! read more

I am a big fan of Moby Dick so I was excited to see how the chicken kabobs compared. The meal was delivered on very nice plates and the food was brought to my table when it was super hot. The kabobs were very juicy and large and had great flavor, better than Moby but the rice was probably the same which was good, I liked it so much I got a togo order to eat for dinner. I will be coming back and also the parking was much easier than Moby Dick as there are like 50 spots in the back. read more

Stopped in to Maman Joon for dinner tonight because we were in the area and love Persian food. Love that it's a burger joint too - delicious Persian food for mom and dad and cheeseburgers for our son. The staff was welcoming and friendly and went above and beyond. We ordered the gheymeh and gormeh sabzi and it tasted so authentic - took me back to my childhood days. Can't wait to come back and try the kabob! read more

I ordered the hummus and chicken kabob. The hummus was good and the bread that came with it was also good. The chicken was tender but lacked flavor. They give you a lot of rice which was good. The service was terrible at MamaJoon Kitchen in McLean. It was very different than my experience at the branch in Tenleytown. The Mclean branch cheated me on the price and would not refund me. It had a very rude person at the cashier the day I was there. When I called to talk to the manager and explain the over charging, they would hang up. read more

Ordering and food pick up is a bit chaotic. Something the owners should look to streamline. Always people standing around near counter. Both the burgers and kebabs are just ok. Because of exposed kitchen area, your cooks should have clean working areas, and act professionally. I have been on a number of occasions and really want it to be an excellent local restaurant, but sadly I give it a solid OK (3 stars), but nothing more. Change the burger buns to something softer. Brioche maybe. Always taste a bit dry and stale. read more

This restaurant started out being pretty good, but went down hill fast. They have served me pita bread as hard as a saltine cracker. They have started charging $1 for the tiny cups of side sauce. Better value and more consistent kabobs can be found close by. read more

I've been meaning to check out Maman Joon Kitchen for a while and I'm so glad I did. I got ridiculously good chicken and beef kabobs, with bread and a salad for something like $16. It's one of those places where you want to order the exact same thing every day bc it's yummy, and affordable, and a lot of filling, delicious food. read more

Such a great addition to the neighborhood! It's housed in the same building as Z Burger, and they are both terrific. I went tonight and had a salad and the Kaskh e Bademjan, and both were terrific. My son had a cheese dog from Z Burger and loved it. And the staff couldn't be nicer. I hope people will support this place! read more

It was okay but it's not a substitute for Moby Dicks House of Kabab. Too much gristle in my Kabab. Messed up my wife's order and it took a long time to get the right order out to us. Parking was in the back and limited. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. read more

All. Just walked in to the new Maman Joon on Chain Bridge Road. My husband and i were really impressed. The food was super fresh. The owners were very gregarious. At the owner's suggestion we had gheymeh bademjan. And eggplant beef dish. It was delicious and unique. We also had chicken kabob. It was moist. I have ordered this elsewhere and ended up with dry cubes. We also had some hummus and pita. Pita was piping hot fresh out of the oven and it was clear that the hummus was freshly made. Also if you come with picky children they share space with z burger offering burgers hand cut fries and shakes. Caveat. We didn't try anything from burger side but looked good read more

We picked up a family platter for 4 people to feed the 4 adults and 2 kids. The platter was delicious and quality was excellent. Meats not that different from other Persian fast casuals nearby, but what the difference is in the sauces/dips/salads. The hummus tasted fresher and smoother than other places where it feels like it is commercially produced. The other sauces were equally flavorful. We did not get a hot sauce. This is a great kabob place! We ordered the family platter and got very large portions. Definitely a great deal for the price! The Kubideh was my favorite but all the other kabobs were good too. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. First, the restaurant: not imposing but attractive, light, pleasant. Ample parking in the rear, but a few steps to navigate to get to the convenient rear entrance. Next, the food: I had the Garg kabob with salad, pita and yogurt. The meat was terrific, flavorful and tender, the salad fresh and more than ample, the pita and yogurt fine. My wife had delicious large chunks of chicken kabob with salad, etc. Our friends had the same except with large mounds of rice instead salad. Prices were reasonable but not a great bargain. The service was very interesting, mostly middle aged Persian men, somewhat amateurish (not a criticism) but COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER. Very attentive to our needs, coming back to our table multiple times to ask if everything was O.K. and whether we needed anything. Suggestion: provide outside lighting at the back entrance to illuminate the path and steps after dark. Special comment: My friend, a college classmate and retired highly esteemed medical professor was delighted to find he could get his favorite malted milk. I think I'll return with one of my Persian friends to get their opinion. In summary: a very good experience, with super kabobs and caring service. read more

Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They make everyone feel at home. I've had a few of their stews, kabobs, and rices. Generous portions, my kids can easily share a meal. Everything's been equally if not better than what I've had at the finer dining Persian restaurants. Love that everything's made in-house, even their sides, nothings store bought of frozen. Went in to get Z burger but it wasn't ready for operation, a man in the back came and offered me a free sample of chicken, the chicken slapped so hard maybe the juiciest piece of chicken I have ever eaten on top of that I wanted to order a baclava and the man had given it to me complimentary it was amazing I would definitely get this again and probably the best kabob in McLean read more
