I couldn't be more satisfied with my lunch! Luis cooked my chicken kabob and my husbands filet to perfection! All the juices were flowing in all the right places! The food here is delicious but kind of pricey for what you get. My favorite is the chicken shawerma plate ($13) or the chicken shawerma wrap ($7). The wrap does not come with anything. Also the garlic sauce and hummus that comes with the plate is excellent. The garlic fries are good as well. I'd come here more often if the prices were better. read more

Glad this restaurant is in the 805!! No need to drive out to the valley anymore for Mediterranean style food. Food was genuinely fresh and delicious. We started going to Mamas hummus about 4 years ago in Newbury Park. We were happy when they put one in Camarillo since it is close by. We used to eat here quite a bit but haven't been in a few months for no real reason. After tonight's visit though we may not be back for a while. We found that the have changed their pita bread which the plates used to get 2 pieces. This was perfect for sharing with our young kids. Now it is 1 larger but not as good piece of pita bread! We called to complain but the cashier didn't seem inclined to do anything . Also, the portions appears to have gotten smaller (which others are complaining about on yelp). And tonight must have been an off night because the meat was over-well done!! Really not happy and there doesn't seem to be a way to "message" the owner on here or the web. So I hope that the owner will read this and take on the suggestions from the Yelp reviewers. The 3 stars in this review was hard to give and solely based on prior visits. read more

Not impressed. We ate here because of the good reviews, and we wish we hadn't. First, it was a little pricey. If we would have eaten at Sharky's, for example, it would have cost around $50. However, our meal at Mama Hummus was over $75. Second, the food was not very good and they got our order wrong. My kids love Daphne's but didn't like the food here. We asked if they had a kids menu and they don't. The advised us to order a side order of the hummus shawarma and that it would be enough food for the kids. The kids said "the chicken tastes funny" and wouldn't eat it. My wife and I ate our food and it was just alright. I would have much rather eaten somewhere else. It was $75 down the drain. Unimpressive and overpriced! I ordered the tri-tip shawarma plate, a medium soda and baklava and it came to $19.19! The meat was good quality but had very little Mediterranean taste to it. The pita bread was stale and the tzaziki had no garlic and no cucumber taste to it and didn't taste like any tzaziki I've ever had. The only really good thing on the plate was the hummus which was fresh and tasty. I also ordered the birds nest baklava because I thought it looked interesting, big mistake, it was stale and the filo dough tasted like old shredded wheat. Just got 39 dollars of food and besides some left over salad, BF and I aren't as full as we should be for that much money. Every other Mediterranean place gives larger containers of garlic sauce for free so I was surprised to be charged a dollar for a couple of teaspoons after spending almost forty bucks Also, I didn't taste much garlic in it - surprisingly. That needs improving The food was good but things could be way better. I think the customers would feel a bit more appreciated if they got a bit more food for their money and weren't charged for silly things like sides Place is clean, but too casual for the price like others have said Oh and tahini sauce lacked that traditional flavor. Did a walk in with zero expectations. I had the falafel wrap and spicy garlic fries. My girl had the falafel plate and hummus. I really enjoyed it all. Falafel wasn't dry or burnt. Garlic fries had A Lot of garlic (which is a personal preference) and i licked the plate dry. The hummus was subpar but the pitas were on point!
