My very favorite lunch place in Sioux Falls if you like Enchiladas! They are the best! An old family recipe and they ONLY serve Enchiladas and chips and a chunky TexMex salsa with Mushrooms, Olives and heat! Beef or chicken Enchiladas but I guarantee that they will bring you back! To these Enchiladas!! To Die For! Come early - seating is limited but worth the wait!

Just had to stop in and try this. Always a succor for some Mexican. Their menu is really easy. The service was welcoming. We ordered full meal with one chicken and one beef. The beef was bitter and a tad bit spicy so be aware. I didn't think it was too authentic. Tasted like chili from a can. The chicken was really good. Tender and flavorful. The toppings were fresh. If you want alcoholic drinks they have a variety to choose from.

I had the strangest salsa here at Mama's Ladas. It was extremely thick and full of olives, corn, and mushrooms. The base seemed like it was made from tomato paste or from hours of cooking down tomatoes. It was still quite tasty, but a definitely interesting take on your classic salsa. I ordered a half order of beef enchiladas. It reminded me of cooked ground beef mixed with the taco seasoning you buy at a grocery store. Everything was delicious, but I didn't feel like it was quite authentic (which is surprising because this restaurant specializes, and only sells, enchiladas).

Tasty chicken enchiladas and salsa you could eat with a fork. The guacamole has a delightful savory flavor lightly dancing on your tongue without overpowering the enchiladas. The street seating was wonderful as we could have a conversation outside in the light breeze. I went for the reviews on Yelp thinking it can't be that food. Well, it is that good.

It's all about the enchiladas. Beef is great, & so is chicken.

We are in Sioux Falls & saw this small & charming looking Mexican Enchilada restaurant with many people eating there. We thought we'd check it out, & it was very good. It is a small place but has big flavor. We started with an order of chips & salsa. The salsa was a very unique & highly unusual blend of tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, corn, cumin, & other ingredients. The flavor was wonderful & one-of-a-kind. I had a beef & a chicken enchilada. The beef enchilada reminded me of a beefy chili with a little bit of heat to it. The chicken enchilada was smooth & creamy & mild & tasty. This was a fun place to eat & to visit.

Not very original Mexican food. I felt like the food may have been microwaved and chips were from from a Tostitos bag.

By that point I was already seated and committed, but that's something I wish I'd checked beforehand. Because of that, I intentionally ordered something that would come out hot. Wasn't about to order a salad or anything that didn't need to be cooked. So I ordered the fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp. You know how fajitas are supposed to come out sizzling on a hot plate? These didn't. They weren't cold, but you could definitely tell everything had been sitting back there for an extended amount of time. They didn't taste fresh at all. And it gets worse. Every time I've ordered fajitas with cheese and bacon anywhere else, you get solid melted cheese and crispy bacon. Here? Runny cheese sauce and bacon that had zero crispiness to it. The whole thing was a mess. The meat portions? Ok the pieces were cut up small. I was picking through all the vegetables and onions trying to find actual pieces of chicken and steak. A lot of peppers and onions. The Verdict: Plaza Azteca was a miss. The margaritas were decent but the fajitas were a lukewarm, runny, disappointing mess with small pieces of meat. Combine that with odd service and some concerning health reviews, and this is a two star experience at best. Won't be going back.

We were both in the mood for Mexican, this was very close and the ratings looked good. The bar looked impressive as we walked in and after we were seated, we started with 24oz Margaritas (see picture) to accompany our free chips, salsa & white sauce (see picture). While the Margaritas were quite large, we both commented that they seemed a bit weak on the alcohol (or it is possible that they used Reposado tequila with less flavor). My wife decided to order the Combo #2 (pork tamale, ground beef enchilada & ground beef hard shell taco - see picture) while I went with the street tacos - Carnitas (pulled pork), Pollo (chicken) & Al Pastor (spit-roasted pork). We both enjoyed the Combo, with my favorite part being the pork tamale. I'm a big fan of corn tortilla street tacos and found them all to be very good - but my favorite was the Al Pastor. A quick Google search indicated that Al Pastor is a spit-roasted pork influenced by Lebanese shawarma - marinated and then cooked on a vertical rotisserie. This carmelizes the edges, resulting in a savory, tangy and slightly sweet flavor. Whatever the science...I found it delicious! If you found this review helpful, please Share, Follow & Like.
