Absolutely amazing, our waiter was Pablo and he did an absolutely amazing job! Would definitely recommend that you pay a visit.

I had high expectations going into this place as it was recommended to me by several friends and relative. They were extremely accomodating as we were 8 with 4 of us being toddlers. The service was also great, everyone was extremely attentive throughout the night. I am not a sushi eater at all but as a dominican seeing "dominican style sushi" made me really want to give it a try. I ordered 4 seperate rolls and I did not enjoy one of them because it had a fishy taste, I confirmed it was the seaweed used to make the rolls. I also believe the drinks were overpriced and the kids had 6oz apple juices that were $4 each! How?????? The kids meal should come with a drink. There was also a $2 cover for coats at the door, we did arrive at 9pm but i thought that was odd. The music and ambiance was great, a little loud but we love spanish music. There were people smoking hookahs, it didnt really bother us. The place is certainly much more pricier than anticipated. Im not sure if I would go again. read more

I want to preface this review with, i have no complaints about their food. In fact, i liked their food. The last roll we got, the macala roll, i wasn't a fan of but hey that happens. Otherwise, the dumplings, the conuco and hot mama rolls were delicious. Came in at 645pm and was sat down at a table and was never told about the happy hour that ends at 7pm. After reading the menu and seeing that happy hour was still available until 7pm but only at the bar, my friend and I decided to get up and sit at the bar. 2 different waiter/tress came to our table before we moved telling us that they'd be our server which I thought was weird cuz neither knew the other had come to the table. We move to the bar, where we were the ONLY ones there and there's 2 bartenders behind the bar. Neither one of them came up to us. Felix eventually became our bartender only after I had to ask him for menus. The place only had maybe 5 tables of people so neither one of them were busy, in fact they were both on their phones. FELIX, mr no personality, never cracked a smile, wasn't friendly at all, and barely had any knowledge of the menu. AGAIN, we were the only ones at the bar and when our drinks were empty we had to ask for another round. 2 BARTENDERS COULDNT NOTICE WHEN WE GOT LOW ON DRINKS! Now I get it, you don't have to be our best friends, but being friendly, making sure our drinks are full, and making sure we're happy with our food, sounds pretty customary if you want to be a good bartender, especially when there's barely anyone there. At the end when the check came, they charged us wrong for the happy hour items AND THEY CHARGED US AN AUTOMATIC 18% FOR GRATUITY! WE WERE AT THE BAR AND IT WAS 2 OF US THATS BULLSHIT! And they put the gratuity based on the total with the tax. Now I wasn't going to argue over a few bucks as I was planning on giving 15% for the bad service but the fact that it was MANDATORY really irked the hell out of me. I'd come back for happy hour and happy hour only at an earlier time but don't expect much from the service as I was very disappointed. O and the hookah was kinda on the expensive side as it was $25 and $15 refill as they don't come around and change your coals. read more

First time eating at this restaurant, service was decent but not great. If you like sushi with a little Dominican twist this is a great spot! The only issue I had was our server, she was not enthusiastic at all and she wasn't helpful. I'm sorry but this place was horrendous! A girlfriend of mine and I decided to stop in to check out the new "fun" spot in town, and we were more than disgusted and disappointed! First of all the music was sooo loud that having a conversation with the person right next to you was impossible unless you were shouting in their face. The service was atrocious! The entire staff was blatantly drinking, smoking hookah, and on their cellphones the entire time. Random people were just walking behind the bar, there was absolutely no organization, the entire scene was so unorganized and unprofessional that I was disgusted. When we ordered or drinks the bartender couldn't hear us, so e got our drink orders incorrect, and still had the audacity to charge us for the drinks! Never again. If you are looking for a nice, classy, and well staffed location to go for dinner, drinks, and dancing do not go here! I still can't believe that the staff was just acting like part of the clientele. So I was a bit disappointed with Mama Sushi. I had very high hopes that my meal would be great. Sushi is great and Dominican food is great so you would imagine that a fusion restaurant just makes sense... it didn't really make sense to me after trying the dishes. The regular rolls were great, they are what you would expect from any sushi restaurant. The fusion rolls left a little more to be desired. I felt like the restaurant really missed an opportunity to make side sauces that highlight Caribbean flavors. They do have sriracha mayo, soy, and mayo ketchup sauces but they could have been a but more creative. Without these sauces the sushi is a bit dry. The chicken nuggets and fries my niece had were dry and bland, the fries were like McDonald's fries... for the price I would like a bit more than McDonalds quality fries. The flan I ordered had great flavor but was incredibly dense and hard... I've never had hard flan before. My sister had the fried ice cream which was covered in what seemed like white bread and panko crumbs... the white bread was really not necessary and did not add anything to the dessert... And there was not very much ice cream in the center... the other panko, wonder bread ball did have more ice cream in the center. I would return for the regular rolls but maybe not much more. read more

When for my cousin 40th birthday, service was horrible. They served dinner to 95 percent of the guest at the party it took 1 hour for the other 5 percent to receive their meal. My coworker invited me to this place. First time ever going there I don't think I will go back. I'm from NY and my experience was horrible. We sat at the bar. By the time I got there my friend already got there food. I ordered one roll and it took an hour. People that got there after me got their food before me I ate it was good. I ordered some drinks for myself and my billl was over 100 bucks. The owner and bartender didn't even have anything to say until I passed a comment of me waIting for my food for so long. They comped my food. Fine!! Even though I sat at the bar and my bill was over a hundred bucks they charged me 18% gratuity. SERIOUSLY??? Never again. Went with a few friends, no wait for our table which was amazing considering how packed the place was. We all ordered different mojitos and they were all outstanding! Couldn't get enough of the chinola one. All of our appetizers and entrees came out with perfect timing and were so good, I recommend the dumplings, crab cakes, Chicken Teriyaki and NY strip. I went for happy hour on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. This was my second time at the venue. First time I went I had a wonderful experience with the bartender. However, can't say the same about this visit. I was greeted by the bartender, who handed me the happy hour and regular menus. We were 4 people at the bar and only 2 more tables were occupied on the floor. So the place was dead or not busy at all. Bartender approached me a few minutes later asking me if I wanted something to drink, to which I replied that I wanted a coconut mojito (please). I then proceeded to order my food. The food arrived and the bartender never asked me how the food was NOR if I wanted another drink. I had 3 drinks in total, but in order to order them I had to keep getting his attention by either calling him by saying excuse me or by raising me hands. This guy NEVER even cared to see if I needed anything. The food and the drinks were great. The service was horrendous. The bartender was always checking his phone and then when the bill came I was forced to give him an 18% tip. GTFOH with that. He didn't even deserve 15%. My friend from New York, who loves Mamma Sushi recommended that I try the the new Mama Sushi in Passaic, NJ. After my horrific experience with Mama Sushi, I was not able to reconcile the fact, why my friend would recommend such a restaurant. 2 hours to get my food, and when I got it, it was cold, so I'm assuming it was sitting somewhere. I went here a few days ago with friends. While the atmosphere was nice-very trendy and clean, and the waitress was sweet and friendly, there were a few things that made me rate them low. For starters, we went during happy hour but was told that happy hour only applies to those sitting at the bar. If you sit at a table, you must go off the menu and happy hour prices do not apply! I've never heard of such a thing! Happy hour is happy hour!!! Secondly, we ordered our drinks and the waitress suggested we get the pitcher since we all wanted the same drink-again, we are talking about happy hour...well, when we got the bill we discovered the pitcher was $40.00. And we happen to get two! It would not have been so bad if the pitcher wasn't mostly ice and only filled up only 4-1/2 small glasses. If a pitcher is going to be that expensive, something should be mentioned. So, a bill that should've been a little over $130.00 turned out to be over $200.00! They will never see me again!
