Never felt so compelled like this to write a review. The table that came after us got to eat, was getting to ready to leave and we still did not get our food. Turned out they served our foods to other table. After waiting for a long time for our food, my Spaghetti Carbonara was the worst Spaghetti that I have ever had. It required no teeth! The texture was like a thick porridge. The waitress offered to have a new dish cooked for me but...are you kidding? After waiting so long for the food, who wants to stay there all night for them to cook a new dish for me, plus I may get another Carbonara porridge. So she took it off the bill instead. What can I say! It was absolutely disgusting. Our experience started with bread that was probably purchased at Fred Mayers down the street. Positive they did not make it in house. I ordered chicken and pasta. The chicken was like eating an old shoe. It was two previously frozen cheap processed slabs of meat placed on top of what was boxed pasta with canned artichokes and a million capers. The sauce of lemon and cornstarch didn't help. My partner had a cheese pizza. It was cooked at a temperature that was most likely too hot. It was burnt on the bottom and raw in the middle. We were offered extra cheese and chillies. The cheese was processed. We literally took two bites and walked out the door. Total of $57.00 The server looked at out full plates and never even asked. I am sure she has seen it before. I think the owner should take a trip to Italy and see how it's done before he/she calls themselves Italian cuisine! Don't waste your money. If your hungry Kraft dinner would beat this by a mile. Man, it's really hard to believe that this place has been around so long. It's really just overpriced cafeteria food - albeit with some exotic offerings- for cafeteria cuisine. We had clams that i almost broke a tooth from rocks inside several of them. Not sand, rocks. I guess they can't bother to rinse them during prep. The Cesar was decent but a bit too fishy for my taste. Table bread, just sliced, dry ass grocery store baguette, cold and dry. Entrées we had Bolognese. Pasta tasted like dog water with lukewarm meat sauce. Seriously tasted like microwaved Prego. Steak salad was just laughable. Apparently seasoning steak is out of the question? Again, dog food has better flavors than this. Ask me how I know... All for $100? Mambo's has a small outdoor seating area, which is important during COVID times. Note that in the evening it can be chilly. I ordered a Caesar. It was good, not great. Croutons were rock hard for some reason. I'm always on the lookout for a good carbonara. While Mambo's is OK, it is not great. The sauce is too cream based, like an Alfredo. You can't taste the pancetta at all. The whisky punch drink was very tasty. What makes this a four instead of a three star is the service. My service was very accommodating. As mentioned, it was chilly on the patio and she went out of her way to get one of the heaters set up near my table. She was prompt with the food as well. read more

My mom and I went to Mambo for lunch and as soon as we walked in, we were impressed with the overall ambiance and the lovely local art on the walls. Food was absolutely delicious and so fresh! Greek, with plenty of fresh tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, Greek olives, balsamic vinegar, and red onions, added prawns--more than enough to share for a meal. I came here for dinner one night while visiting Bellingham and I was very impressed with everything! My friend and I were seated right away and I ordered the Lemon Drop cocktail and it was very tasty. To start, I got a small cesar salad which was also very good (and pretty big for a small). They also gave us a complimentary baguette with butter and olive oil. We both ordered a pasta dish, and let me tell you they were huge! I made a take out order for the Pan Seared Sockeye Salmon. It was a very tasty sandwich. They make their own focaccia bread. The salmon was well cooked and. moist, the dressing, the lettuce, and tomato were all fresh. It took 15 or so to prepare. I would have given it five stars, but I felt that the server who took my order was not friendly and seemed a bit annoyed. It could be that the person was stressed out. It was featured on the menu as their signature dish, and I love seafood with pasta, so I thought it would be great. There was little sauce, it tasted really off, and the flavors of the shrimp with the strong, tart olives and too many anchovies and/or garlic so it didn't all go well together. I've never complained of too much garlic in my life. This was $22 pretax. The person with me got a Greek salad and wasn't too impressed with it. This is one of two Italian restaurants that I go to, the other being Giuseppe's. Mambo Italiano is much more affordable but I think the food here is as good as that at Giuseppe's. As of writing this review, most entrees at Mambo run from $16~$22 whereas they range from $20~$40 at Giuseppe's. I was very impressed by the seafood puttanesca. It was only $21.50, but had a very generous amount of seafood: mussels, clams, big prawns, and generous salmon pieces. The fettuccine was a bit overcooked, but I was very happy with everything else about the puttanesca. They also have several dishes for kids, which are also extremely reasonably price: $5~$8. The ambience at Mambo Italiano is casual but cute enough to bring a date here. The service here is friendly and casual, more suitable for family dining than intimate dining. We went back to Mambo for the first time since covid hit. We were so dissappointed in how bad the food was. The bread was cold and tasteless. The lasagne has just about no meat and just a bit of sauce and no pasta, it seemed to be only layers of cheese with small amounts of sauce. This place came highly recommended from multiple people , and it didn't disappoint. Staff was very friendly and had a great ambiance . I like sea food so I ordered the puttanesca, which came with generous portion of sea food . The red sauce was appropriately brothy , with a little spicy kick and red pepper which wasn't overwhelming the taste. The pasta was dry not fresh, the cacio e pepe was very dry and I had to add olive oil to it to make it edible, and the sauce was separating in the Alfredo. Won't be eating here again. read more

After driving most of the day and checking into a local hotel it was time to find a place that we could get a decent meal without driving too far, deciding it would a pizza night the search began and let me tell ya there are lots of choices for pizza in this town, it almost seems as if pizza is the comfort food in this part of the country. Those of you who love good pizza understand the importance of getting a visual prior to committing to any particular restaurant in a city you are not familiar with and today Mambo Italiano Cafe seemed to have the most appealing pictures regardless of a few negative reviews regarding the service. After driving around the block a few times we found a parking space relatively close to the restaurant's entrance directly across the street, the exterior of the restaurant was cute with a few outdoor tables and a few patio heaters illuminated the seating area, being the temperature was moderate it seemed to be more about the ambiance than for warmth. We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in without a reservation, the restaurant was only about half filled being it was mid week and about an hour before closing so that didn't seem odd or anything other than what you'd expect. Once seated we did find the wait to be longer than you'd expect to at least meet the server, but once she showed up everything was fine and we never waited on anything, she provided exceptional service throughout our entire dining experience. We ended up ordering a 10" Mambo Meats Pizza and I decided to try a cup of their vegetable ham soup - this homemade soup was delicious I actually at the time wished I had ordered a bowl verses a cup. Our pizza arrived within a reasonable time, hot and crispy topped with amazingly fresh ingredients the pepperoni and salami was of such high quality and the fresh cheese was so delicious and stretchy, the bread and the tiramisu was equally good- there is no doubt we selected the right restaurant in regards to the quality of the food and service... read more

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this place and while i like it i think that it can be really hit or miss. While it is "pricey" i would actually say the prices here are comparable to the olive garden dinner menu. I always get the fettuccine con pollo with gorgonzola sauce and it's soooooo good. it's creamy and flavorful and if you haven't tried it definitely check it out next time. The people i was with however were "Ehhh" about their food. They left feeling like there were some things that they wish they could change/would have been better. read more

Food is excellent, we ordered three entrees (including salmon penee) and two deserts (that beautiful tiramisu is one of them) and cocktail and everything was perfectly fresh cooked.
