D'Anna's is a true Bellingham staple that I've visited again and again over the years. And they've…read morestayed pretty much the same that entire time - from their delish Italian food to their friendly service, their great reputation among locals is well-deserved. Lately, D'Anna's has become a tried-and-true favorite for date night. We love to go on a weeknight, when they're less busy, and bring our own bottle of wine (they charge a very fair $20 corkage fee), then just enjoy our dinners. My favorite is their ravioli and their amazing homemade meatballs. Recently I tried their pasta dish featuring mushrooms with a vodka cream sauce and it was over-the-top delish. They also have HUGE portions here; always enough to take home for the next day's lunch. And their service is consistently fast and friendly. Okay, now I'm officially craving pasta again!

However I got the prawn arancini & unfortunately I don't recommend it. The flavors were fine but it was the oiliest food I've ever had since I was a child. It was like the old school pizzas that you could ring the oil out of. I took it home & made a bowl of rice added lemon peel & lemon juice some basil & black pepper & it was 100% better. But at the restaurant they don't have that. I do plan on coming back to try other stuff because I honestly think it's going to be a fav place. The ambience is hard to judge cause there were only 3 tables when I went in. I didn't use the restroom so I have idea. Parking is fairly easy. The staff was friendly and helpful, unobtrusive but available. The net of it - a wonderful atmosphere, a choice of things to drink, and one great salad, one bland salad ... I'd go back - it's only a block from the Mount Baker Theater where we went for a live music performance -- but I'd choose what to order carefully.

The pizza prices were a bit on the high side for a franchise place but the descriptions were promising with some interesting ingredients. Then I spotted it on the bottom of the menu...the Fig Pig. How could I not try it! About 15 minutes later it arrived, I took the first bite and Oh My Lord...when they redo the menu, it needs to be at the top. This is my new favorite pizza in Bellingham. Salty, crispy, meaty and sweet. It hits all the hot buttons. The crust is actually tasty, the pork is perfectly done. It was freaking delicious. Even better, once I finished half the pizza...it was that good...and a box and the check were delivered...the pizza was half off. I called the hostess over to ask if it was a mistake and she said all pizzas are half off on Tuesdays. I now know my Tuesday dinners. We called because we knew we'd be arriving close to closing, and the owner couldn't have been more welcoming. That level of hospitality continued throughout the entire meal. The food was phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully prepared, our server was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, and even the kids' meals were a step above what you'd expect. We also happened to visit on pasta and wine night, which made an already great experience even better. It's rare to find a restaurant that excels at both food and customer service, but Sliced absolutely does. We live about five hours away, and it's honestly worth the drive. We also split a Caesar salad (because veggie balance is important) and ended on a high note with tiramisu. This might be some of the best pizza I've had in Washington, and I say that as someone from the East Coast who takes pizza very seriously. While there are a few great slices in Seattle, Fiamma is easily in my top three pizzas in Washington. We've stopped here twice now after biking up in Bellingham (shoutout to Transition Bikes Outpost), and it's the perfect post-ride stop. Grab a brew, order a pizza, and relax. First off, the service has been great both times. Everyone is kind, friendly, and efficient. It's been busy each time we visited, but pizzas still came out in about 15-20 minutes, which feels completely reasonable for a quality pizza spot. The second time we ordered takeout and it was ready in about 10 minutes, which was awesome. One thing I really appreciate is that you can order a medium pizza with two different halves. That's perfect when you're trying a new place and want to sample more than one style. We tried a few different things: * The Rossa pizza (small to-go) - This was my personal favorite. There is nothing worse than bad ranch with good pizza, and this stuff is legit homemade and dangerously good. Some people might think buying a pint of ranch with pizza is a little unhinged.
