First, very hot inside. Floor is perspirating to the point where it is a slip hazard. Wait time was satisfactory but once our party of 11 was seated, we got a cramped corner that barely sat 9 people. Beverage selection was dismal considering their fountain soda system was "not working", even though soda was carbonated perfectly. The waitress Julia didn't want to admit she poured all diet cokes instead of regular cokes. For the price, you'd think you would get a soup or salad with your meal. You don't. I arrived in Whitefish tired and hungry after riding up from Missoula. My riding buddy told me of Ciao Mambo with much enthusiasm but the name alone was enough to intrigue me and the staff had me at hello. Sitting at the bar allowed me to view the kitchen crew up close and personal as they worked together like partners in a well rehearsed dance. Having a front row seat turned out to be a learning experience as well. The food was incredible, from the bread dipped in olive oil and garlic, topped with parmesan, to the Tiramisu dessert. My pasta, Papa Biagio's Bolognese, was amazing. It was suggested I pair it with a glass of cabernet and the compilation was so perfect that my Buddy put aside his beer and we ordered a full bottle. Great food is hard to find. Ciao Mambo has it and much more. There is a certain assuredness that you feel in this restaurant that comes from knowing what works and doing it well. You know it when you first enter and see it reflected in the staff, as they are enjoying the experience as well. Ciao Mambo is my new all time favorite restaurant. It's like being in the home of your best friend. If you're lucky, you may even learn how to toss a pizza. read more

Not worth making the reservation...After hearing from a few friends that this place had delicious menu items, we were excited to try it for the first time. However, sadly my family and I were very dissatisfied with our dinner entrees on Tuesday evening. We could have made far better Italian Food at home rather than spending over $100 here at this local restaurant. We understand that COVID-19 may have had an impact on the cooks working in the kitchen, but our dinner was well below average for what our friends had said was "...a place comparable to a high-end Tomato Street, like the one in Spokane." Simply put, Ciao Mambo was NOT what we expected for a night out in Whitefish. We would have much rather spent our $$$ at different establishment. Very bland and noodles were boiled beyond al dente... Food was great, but we were sitting at the bar upstairs when the door on the wine cabinet fell off and broke every glass on the bar. I was sitting in front of the wine cabinet and was covered, and I mean covered in glass. No discount, no comps offered other than the last beer my husband ordered. We are pretty easy going people, but our evening was disrupted with very little apology from staff. Not blaming staff, but a Manager should have gotten involved. I would advise you to get there at 5 pm or wait until 7:30pm as the place is small and it is packed. Like Yogi said, so packed that nobody goes there anymore - hm. If you want a pizza that will make you very happy, order a plain cheese pie and add mushrooms and ricotta cheese. The pizza is the best around. Had a great dinner! My wife's dinner was a custom order to keep her diet and they handled that well. Lively atmosphere, busy because it's popular, but also filled with nice folks. This was a breath of fresh Montana air . Best dinner we have had on our trip . The food was so yummy and huge portions !!! The penne ala vodka was amazing so was the bolognese !! The wine portions are amazing and the prices incredible ! We also had the Spumoni for desert , it's two huge scoops of ice cream so if your already full from dinner it's better you share dessert because the are really big . We waited for 2 hours....Yes, 2 hours our entree last night!!!!!! The pizza was burned and undercooked, the linguini vongole was a soup. When we asked the waitress to (at least) take away the liquid from the linguini, she said: "In Italy, they eat them like that"...I am Italian....We do not! Awful, aweful....I felt terrible for our poor server (Ken!). It was not his fault for an overall shameful night. Never, ever more! Go to Abruzzo. It is way better! read more

We have been going to Mambos for years, we consider ourselves regulars. When we want good Italian food, Mambos is our go to place. The food and service is always wonderful but tonight we had a horrible experience. While the food was excellent, the service was not. We walked in just before 6PM, the hostess sat us but made sure we knew they needed the table for a reservation at 7:30, not a problem, so we thought. We were with some good friends, locals like us, ordered a nice bottle of wine, ordered our meals and by 6:20 right after we got our food they were asking if we needed a box for our food, seemed odd. Every few minutes the waitress and others kept walking by our table asking if we were finished. We uncomfortably ate most our meal and finished our wine and were out by 7:00, not really that long for a nice evening meal. In the mean time they sat a group of patrons at the bar and they continually stared and looked at us, very uncomfortable situation. The hostess obviously told those patron that was their table when we finished. When we left I mentioned to one of the waitresses that knew us, since we are regulars, how rushed we felt. In addition, my wife talked to the hostess, who said they told us they had a reservation for that table at 6:30, now I understand why we were so rushed. When my wife said they told us 7:30 the hostess just walked away and ignored our group.Now we understand why we were getting the evil eye from everyone. But, think about it, would you seat a group at 6:00 hoping they would devour their food and leave 6:30? They are not the only game in town now. I suggest trying Abruzzo's. read more

Food is OK, But what makes this place bad is very crowed seating, and very, very, noisy.

Service staff is great, but that's the only positive thing I can say this time around. Last I was here, 2 years ago, the Salmon Cesar was astounding. My mouth has watered ever since, but tonight was a big disappointment. The texture and taste of both the salad and fish were sub-par. The dressing was too sparse and unconvincingly original. 3/30/18 Second customers in the door after opening. Hostess was a complete b. ,was going to seat us 3 at a double table for 8,with high bar height chairs. We asked for a regular table. She says they are saved for families with children. I asked how about older people who may fall. (I am 71,wife is 70 with 2 hip replacements). Reaction was to go to the lower table,throw down the menus,and bread plates and go off in a huff. Called Saturday & Monday, told them what happened,was told will have the manager call you back. My friend and I went there last night after a day in Glacier National Park. We had Bruschetta for appetizers, which was so fresh and amazingly tasty. For the main course we went with different pasta dishes. The Penne Isabella was fantastic, the sausage had just the right bite. Their wine list is very well put together and complements the food. The place has a great atmosphere, definitely recommend to go there for a great meal. read more

I have eaten at Mambos in Missoula several times and was excited to finally try this one. We went on a Sunday when the Italian joint in Kalispell was closed, and were ushered straight to the awesome patio, which we prefer. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and right away we could tell it was a busy night a Mambos. The beer and bread was plentiful to start and our food didn't seem to take all that long to come out, but that's where the ball seemed to drop. I kept reminding the gentlemen I was with that it wasn't the waitresses' fault that the desserts were taking forever. I am sure the kitchen was just really backed up but we are sure that there was a 20-25 minute gap between ordering dessert and finally receiving it. We ended up getting it to go because we were so ready to dart outta there. But, all in all, the food was to-die-for and the patio was fantastic! I would definitely go back. On a girls trip from California visiting Montana. We ate at this restaurant in Missoula a few nights ago and loved the food! When we saw that they were here in Whitefish we were excited about having another great meal! WRONG!!! The bread was burnt and greasy with butter and one bowl of minestrone soup had about an inch of grease on the top. We asked our server; Lindsey, for another bowl and it was good. Then we had a chicken ceaser salad and the chicken was uncooked. Lindsey was great, but the food was bad. They really need to take a lesson from their "sister" restaurant in Missoula and step up their game. read more

BUT then chooses to hire pretentious, snotty perfume laden wait staff. Italian food is comfort food, it is fun food, its homey. We were in town visiting some relatives, and decided to stop in. We were a group of five and we were seated at a table with some people we didn't even know. The table was in the middle of the room, with high chairs(like bar stools). I like to be comfortable when I sit down to eat, also the noise level was deafening, we couldn't even hold a conversation with each other.
