This was a chosen dinner spot for a friends birthday party, we were a party of 5. Our seat was nice along a backdrop. Let me start with the waitress Bella for AMAZING her attentiveness, personality, knowledge and all the little extras from taking pictures of the group to allowing us to pick a song to play. She is a great asset to this restaurant. Now the food well I honestly was a bit disappointed because there was no sushi cook on this particular night a Friday night at that but it wasn't a mood killer. The drinks were presented nicely. You don't come to Mambo Sushi expecting the best quality of sushi - you come for the vibes and the hookah. The sushi itself is Dominican inspired and most of the rolls are cooked. It's good, but again, not my go-to for sushi. They offer a variety of dishes - I opted for the Mofongo con Camarones (shrimp). The sauce mixed with the Mofongo? Fire. They also have good cocktails. Hookah will cost around $42 - $52 per fill, depending on the flavor. Kitchen closes at 12:45 AM, so my party and I were able to enjoy our meals and still spend a good amount of time there. I went on a slower day so the service was quick, but in the warmer season the restaurant will be packed in and out. It's a great vibe if you don't put the expectation that this will be a 5 star meal. Had dinner at Mambo with friends and we all loved it. Went on a Wednesday night so it was pretty slow, only 2/3 other tables while we were there. The decor is very cute, i had read on here that it's very "instagramable" and i agree. We were sat right away, our waitress was nice and attentive. The menu is online, with qr code at table. We ordered some apps and sushi right away; there was a sushi special until 8pm and we were able to put in order minutes before 8! Everything came out together, apps and sushi, and we didn't wait long. The food was great! The sushi options were very creative, some traditional others with the latin mix. The apps were good too, only wish they put more sauce on the wings. The only con was parking! I thought the parking lot next to them was theirs and was happy to find a spot (i thought was because week days are less busy). If there is a sign that says it private lot i didn't see it; it was at night. The restaurant also didn't mention it until someone came to ask for car to be moved. A different waitress came ro our table to ask if it was our car and told me "you are lucky they came in to ask to move it, they usually just have it towed". They need to warm customers or have signs so that doesn't happen. I had to rush out to move it, had to find street parking few blocks away. Thankfully was a week day and only took few minutes. This place is super cute, very IG aesthetic kinda place. I came with friends and we sat inside, so I didn't see what the interior looked like. Service was great, our sever was very attentive and quick. The food & drinks was delicious. The sangria isn't like a typical sangria, but it was yummy nonetheless. The pegao bites were sooooo good! The house sauce is delicious. I also got the bento box. I will say the lomo saltado had a different sauce than I was used to, and I realized after I left I didn't get the fries that come with it. But it was still very delicious. I will say the bill was a little confusing. On the menu it says there is an 18% charge already included. It said so on the bill as well, but it wasn't itemized so the bill comes as "custom amount"and then had a line for an extra tip. I'm very disappointed with this experience! I called in to ask what time the kitchen closed. I went in with a couple of friends 1hr before and we were seated right away. the server didn't come to take hour drink orders until 10 min later. we sat for 30 min before our food orders were taken In which they had nothing we requested so we settled for what was available. After placing our order the server then came back 5 min later telling us the chef chose to close the kitchen early and she wasn't informed. only one of us got our drinks while the other two were still being made. My niece treated me to dinner and drinks here for my birthday. We accompanied by her sister and mom. Girls' night out . Fun fun! When we arrived,we were pleasantly surprised by the mellow vibe of the place: nice, colorful decor with seating consisting of both tables and chairs and banquette seating. Very comfortable. The next hour and a half consisted of Mia wandering aimlessly from the restaurant to the front podium, taking our orders,bringing mildly warm to cold entrees and us being told there was no manager on site to speak with. She allegedly tried calling the manger, by phone, to no avail. We saw other patrons, with another waitress come after us,and left before us, after being successfully served. We sent back cold meals and of course didn't order anything else. As we walked to our car, we heard a couple saying "Never again." They had been in there for2 hours as compared to our almost 3!! The common denominator was Mia. She's a very sweet person but had to be retrained. It is not my intent to have her lose her job. I cannot understand or believe there was no manager on-site. Cocktails are decent, but heavy on the sugar and Ice and irrationally expensive for well liquor. Sushi rolls are similar quality to supermarket sushi, heavy on the rice light on protein. Nothing special. No sashimi options, so clearly this isn't a real sushi restaurant despite the misleading name. The best thing we selected was the tempura cauliflower appetizer. Service was fair. The kitchen doesn't help; food seemed to take a long time to come out. There didn't seem to be a designated bartender on a Thursday night. Very strange based on the cocktail-heavy menu. I am furious that included gratuity and credit card fee weren't explained by server when she presented the bill. Will never return based on this omission. It felt very deliberate and predatory, l suspect servers are trained by management not to highlight either fact so they can scam customers that aren't paying attention. Unisex bathroom was dirty. Like really dirty, nowhere clean to put down your purse, on a weeknight. So many good/better restaurants within walking distance of Mambo Sushi. The sushi was worse than grocery store quality. the fish was dry and rubbery, as I write this review, I worry that I'll wake up sick tomorrow. they had no wasabi, and it seemed like they just never do. what is a sushi bar doing with no wasabi? 75% of the sushi menu was cooked fish and chicken. this place seems to only serve food in order to get around legal requirements for proximity of bars to each other. She said "okay bye" not to mention while we waited 40 minutes for our appetizer she walked passed our table to fill other peoples water and not once filled our empty cups. Side note there was only 4 other tables besides ours. So no the restaurant wasn't busy. We took our money and enjoyed our dinner elsewhere. Instagram is what hooked me in to wanting to go to Mambo. The food and drinks in each picture looked delicious! Four of us stopped in for dinner early in the afternoon. There were no other customers so we were seated right away. We ordered some drinks- the leechy martini was heaven. The pistachio martini could use some improvement. We ordered food next. Three of the dishes we wanted they did not have. Everything we ordered came out great- it was delicious. I most likely would order take out from here next time, and here is why.... The service was great at first, but by the end of the meal it sucked! Waitress was sitting in a booth on a cell phone. No checking in and we ended up having to get up to get the bill. We receive the bill and they add a fee to credit card use and a gratuity- no matter how many people are in the party. Gratuity is based off of service. And guess what? It wasn't great. So no matter how bad the service is, you're leaving a good tip. read more

Came in for late lunch with 5 colleagues. We were the only table and somehow it took 55 mins for our food to come out. The chairs felt sketchy, like they could have given out if I sat down too quickly. Didn't have many items on the menu (given the current situation that gets a pass) The food was decent but inconsistent. My appetizer was awesome but my sushi roll had rice that was almost raw. I'm not sushi person I've tried many spots but that fusion roll changed my mind it, was amazing. We got the lemon spicy Siracha wings, they were a little too zesty but over all everything was good. Mambo is a solid sushi option in the Federal Hill neighborhood. There are two vegetarian roll options: the impossible chicken roll was ok. The cauliflower appetizer is worth ordering but the spicy edamame is straight up just edamame coated in sriracha, so be ready for that. read more

My crew and I went to Mambo Sushi to celebrate a birthday and we had a GREAT experience! The hookah was great, didn't burn "immediately" like other establishments & the price was pretty reasonable on a Tuesday! The food was to die for and the drinks were definitely OVER THE TOP!!!! They were flavorful, you could definitely feel the alcohol, and some of them even had glitter and/or rubber duckies which I thought was a nice little highlight! But the highlight of MY night was DeeDee! She was the ONLY waitress in a restaurant with FULL TABLES! (my crew was at 10+ just counting adults). DeeDee got to ALL tables in what I consider to be a timely manner, asked everyone to please be patient as she was the only server and STILL took the time to make everyone feel welcomed and interact with us on more than a "what can I get for you?" level and I LOVED THAT! She definitely did not let the pressure get to her and that showed in her FLAWLESS service! I will definitely be returning and hopefully DeeDee is there to take care of me again. Atmosphere was nice but the food was not worth the money we spent. I love both Asian and Peruvian food but this was not it. Sushi rice was hardddd so hard it kind of felt raw. Edemame is my thing and there's was very bland just squirt some sriracha on it was what I got. I couldn't say I liked anything. 150 for 3 appetizers and 2 sushi's and 2 drinks. Gratuity was added for only 2 people so check first usually it's for a party of 6 at other spots. Service was eh I'm sure they were just doing their job but it was a every 3 min check in and it gets rather annoying. I wouldn't go there again because I'm such a foodie I was rather disappointed.
