It's been a very long time since I've been here. Hubby brought me for lunch and I was not disappointed. I DETEST Cuban food! Or so I thought. Until my husband "dragged" me to Mambo's. Boy did they turn me around! The spicy chicken with ham, cheese and jalapeño is AMAZING. Came here for work group lunch, ok size parking lot. Service was friend and decent portions. Plantains were tasty. I had ropa vieja, tasty but felt the salt afterwards. Shared the mambo starter w coworkers, it was a huge portion. Would come again next time to try mambo chicken. read more

My favorite is the "El Padre" grilled boneless, skinless chicken with a bed of fresh chopped onions, tomatoes, cilantro salsa and avocado and their flavorful beans and rice. I also recommend getting a side of the plantains. Hmmmm...Just thinking about it makes me want to go there right now! (just so you know I go here at least once a month) Flavorful, healthy, and a great place to bring a date without breaking the pocket book. My only complaint, well okay two complaints, parking is impossible here, the next is that the room gets really loud, I mean really loud so it's hard to talk and be heard with your group. I was on the Diner's, Dive's and Drive In's show that they taped for Guy Fieri. That was fun, and I still get people coming up to me saying they saw me on it. Too funny, but definitely my few minutes of fame are up! Ok...Mambo's just rocks! The food, the homey feel and the service is just great! Feels like family. The food, is delicious!!! I'm Cuban and got outed on t.v. that I was eating my first ever black beans and my mom would probably kill me. That should tell you something, it made me feel adventurous, I used to go all the time but moved a bit father away. Now I'm back and drove by the other day...and I can't wait to go back! I LOVE Mambo's Grilled Chicken Breast! It is one of my favorite meals! It comes with rice and beans, and also plantains. I always ask for Mambo's sauce on the side to put on the chicken and it gives it great flavor! Mambo's isn't the fanciest place but it has inside and outside seating and REALLY good food! Went recently for lunch with a friend who goes there on a frequent basis. The menu seemed a little bit more health-conscious than other Cuban places I have gone to (for example chicken seemed to be always chicken breast). The mojo de ajo sauce seemed to be pure concentrated garlic instead of the classic sour orange garlic concoction. The dish had a bare minimum of fried plantains. Serving size was a bit on the smaller side. I missed traditional dishes like rabo encendido (oxtail), higado encebollado (liver with onions), etc. Service was ok. Parking was limited on that day (place was packed, but my friend told me that it usually isn't for lunch). It did the trick for my Cuban cravings, but I prefer other places in LA (tastier, more traditional dishes, more generous portions, etc.). read more

Back in December my wife and I ordered food to go, we picked it up and got home and it was wrong so I called and expressed that it was wrong so they said come back They made us new food but burned it I again talked to the manager who then cussed me out saying a bunch of bad words and said I don't know anything. So I drove there to show the guy he grabbed the plate of food and smashed it in his hand like a crazy person and then threw it at me and then got in my face like he was going to beat me up. In my life I have never ever been in that kind of situation before. I was truly scared. The guy is lucky I did not call the cops on him. I will never eat here I called the next day and talked to the owner who said he would get back to me who never did. They were all very unprofessional no one should ever attack a customer Verbalee or aggressively. I would give it negative stars if I could read more

Went for lunch and was hoping for a lunch special. I had Cuban food the week before at another restaurant and wanted it again but it was too far for lunch so opted for this place. I ordered the chicken with rice and platanos and beans. It was pretty good but not great. Perhaps it was what I ordered. In any case, the customer service was good. read more

Just had a wonderful takeout meal from here. Their Cuban sandwich is very good, and their ropa vieja was fantastic. Good bread with spicy sauce, and the rice pudding was a treat. AND you can get their fabulous sangria to go! They had a very organized pickup arrangement, with a container of sanitized pens and a container for the used ones. Mambos is good but not great! I came here for a lunch meeting and was pleasantly surprised that they had tables to sit at. This tends to be a go-to hot lunch spot for many of the studios nearby. If you work in the entertainment business in Burbank, you will most likely run into old or current colleagues. Be careful what you talk about :) the place seems to sit in an old mechanic shop and parking is limited and horrendous. I always have to park on the street or across the street in the liquor store shopping center- where btw the famous liquor scene in super bad was filmed :). They sit you pretty quick and you can tell that they want you to eat and leave by the way they take your order and serve you so quickly! It's a small place so I understand why they would want to rotate customers fairly quickly. I think lunch is their busiest time. The food is good and tasty. I usually get the mambo chicken (with bone unfortunately). The rice , black beans and platanos frito (fried bananas) are great additions to the entrees. I also had the veggie empanadas as an appetizer which were decent. All in all location: C Food: B- Service: B. I would give them 3.5 stars but rounded up :) I've had better Cuban food. I came to this place because I saw it in food network and I thought it was going to be good but I'm really disappointed on it the food is just not tasty it's expensive and the service is just not ok, they need to meek it like more happy place I think, short story not happy with it I ask for the special and they didn't have any for the day funny cause on the menu said ask for the special! My friends have been trying to get me to give this place a try for quite some time. I decided to give it a shot today after reading some of the reviews on this website. Well, let me start by noting the excellent, but interesting service at Mambo's. This place is a colorful upbeat zoo! It is the best organized disaster I have ever had the pleasure to witness . Somebody should consider filming a reality show at this place. The blue-eyed waitress is crazy and the guy with the tatoos is a trip (he's an angry happy person). Also, it seems that there is a group of regulars that are constantly making noise at the counter. I've never seen anything like this in my life. There was an entire production taking place right in front of my eyes! They were giving some old dude a hard time and enjoying it. Lots of love and positive vibes at the counter for sure. Sit there at your own risk. Last, but not least, the FOOD! You can't beat the quality and authentic taste of Cuba they have to offer. If you're are looking for good food and want to avoid the "hoity toity" nonsense - this is your place. This place doesn't waist time in impressing you with fancy linens, valet parking and astronomic prices. Real food for real people at affordable prices - just the way it should be. First and last time at this rat joint! A couple of girlfriends and I dined here last night. First of all, the service was lousy....took them over 30 minutes to take our order. The food was not yummy and the quantities were poor! The waitress wasn't friendly, and kept leaning into the table directly over me, which was very uncomfortable. We had to ask for water several times before they actually brought us our glasses. And to add salt to the wound, we were asked by an ash-tray stinking retired cholo (security) not to talk during the performance! WTF??? I thought we were at a restaurant not at the Oprah!! The salmon with ajillo was well cooked (not over cooked) and the yellow rice was excellent. Bread roll served with the entre was fresh as was the salad. Plátanos were cooked to perfection. House dressing was very herby (not finely chopped) and could be a turn off for some, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Portion size was good for two. The cortadito beforehand was sweet and frothy and hit the spot. Service was friendly and courteous and though I took it to go, it seemed like an atmosphere where I'd enjoy having a drink at the bar and listening to music.
