Came here for lunch with a party of thirteen friends. We called ahead and were advised that they could seat us immediately. The restaurant is located in a very small strip mall and has very limited parking (perhaps 12-14 total parking spots). La Cienega is extremely busy so that you WILL see heavy traffic in the area. This was my first time trying Cuban food, so I was both excited and ready to try something new. Upon entering the restaurant, we were welcomed and seated immediately by two employees. The restaurant's decor looks and feels old and worn; there is seating for perhaps 20 to 30 guests at tables and booths, and the aroma of food fills the air. Employees were all business but extremely friendly and attentive during our entire visit. I ordered an Ensalada de Aquacate (avocado salad), which, when delivered to our table, left us waiting for the lettuce, only to be told by our waiter that my salad consisted only of avocado and onions. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this salad. For my entrée, I had the vegetarian Arroz, frijoles negros y plátanos fritos (rice, black beans, and fried sweet plantains). The black beans and rice were DELICIOUS!! The plantains were good but not my favorite, though others in my group absolutely loved theirs. My wife had the Versailles garlic chicken, which was delicious, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. The endless buttered bread was the winner in my opinion. I could have eaten basket after basket of bread, but I limited myself to only three slices. Others in my group had the Lechon asado (Cuban-style roasted pork), which looked delicious, and my daughter had the potato balls. We had a positive and fun dining experience, though I do not feel it is worth driving the long distance from home (33 miles) to dine at this restaurant again unless invited by friends.

This is a LA classic for authentic Cuban food! I had not been here in years and the flavors and quality of food is still the same! They've redone the interior and it has a nice clean look. The staff here were very attentive and nice. The food came out pretty quickly as well. We ordered the sampler as an appetizer. I loved the potato balls, they were my favorite. For my entree I ordered the Arroz con Pollo. Every bite was absolutely amazing, full of flavor! The chicken was falling off the bone it was so tender. The plantains were probably the best I've ever had. This restaurant is comfort food at its best!

my family and i entered this restaurant and the workers were quick to greet and seat us, our server was very sweet and we got our food and drinks quickly. i ordered the lechon asado and platanos and morros y cristianos rice (rice mixed with black beans) and it was delicious. I was worried the pork might be a little dry bc i've had that happen before but it was moist and perfectly paired with the rice and platanos.

Came back for lunch again and this time I tried the ropa vieja and it did not disappoint. So juicy and tender and filling. My friend got the pollo sandwich and he loved it too.

Went to Versailles and ordered the garlic chicken -- and man oh man, have I missed good Cuban food. I haven't had any since living on the East Coast. I probably looked like I hadn't eaten in days with the way I was scarfing down my plate. By the end, all that was left were bones . The chicken was unbelievably juicy, and I never eat skin, but here? I couldn't resist. Something about that tender meat paired with the crispy skin and those perfectly pickled onions... ugh, chef's kiss. If you're craving real Cuban comfort food, this is it.

Crazy to think Versailles opened first location off Venice blvd way back in 1971 and still going strong!!! One of mom's favorite Cuban spot so whenever I'm in town we gotta go get her fix!! Butter toasted bread!!! Black beans and rice!!! Lemon and onions w pork or chicken....But definitely not for everyone? Don't sleep on the lemon and onion sauced tamales or empanadas but our all time favorite is and always will be the oxtail!! Unfortunately with ridiculously high oxtail inflation....Definitely affected price, quality and plate size but still delicious!!! Shakes are delicious as well but definitely an espresso with some Cuban flan is a must!!!

This place is amazing and has become my go-to Cuban spot. The food is consistently on point. My wife loves the garlic chicken, and I can't stop ordering the oxtail stew--it's rich, tender, and full of flavor every single time. The fries and yucca are both outstanding, perfectly cooked and addictive. The restaurant is clean (including the bathrooms, which always matters), and parking honestly isn't as bad as you'd expect given the location. Great food, solid experience, and always worth coming back

Growing up, I used to come here about once a month. Then life happened and moved out of state. The last time I came here was about 30 years ago. WOW that makes me sound old! lol But the truth is, I missed this place and I was extremely happy that it is still open and at the same location! Of course the restaurant itself looks updated and bigger, but everything else here is just as how I remembered it. Ordered the best dish on the menu, the famous chicken. Portion size is just how I remembered it and let me tell you, the meal brought tear to my eyes. So much nostalgia. I literally texted my best friend to show him where I was at and ofcourse we talked about the good times we spent here. Thank you for the best food and service. I will be back!

Encino location puts his to shame! Overcooked chicken!

Pro-tip: stick to their garlic chicken: you can pretty much ignore everything else. While their famous garlic chicken pollos has reached legend status, I don't share the same sentiment with some of their other offerings. Such as the pollos sandwich. For a whopping $19 dollars, you receive an unseasoned chicken patty reminiscent to fast-food like grilled chicken sandwiches. No salt. No pepper. No seasoning. The lettuce was not fresh, but soggy. Hardly any toppings. Desperately needed help with the garlic sauce to breathe life into this pitiful sandwich on life support. At least the fries were crunchy. But where's the salt ?

Food came out quick. Its hot in there, went during lunch and it was busy. Beans and green sauce stood out that was good.

Versailles Cuban food is amazingly delicious. Service is helpful yet wonderful. Ambiance is casual and clean. Great Cuban Food !

The food is always pretty good here. We usually get the number 6, which is chicken. We always take it to go. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and helped right away. The place had plenty of inside seating, nice Latin music playing and was clean. Parking is ok.

    Still has great prices!

Forget Starbucks! La Ventanita at Versailles should be your morning stop if you work or live nearby this Calle Ocho landmark. The low prices still surprise me. I took a picture of my receipt so you can get an idea. The food is also great. This last time I had ham croquettes, a meat pie, and two guava and cheese pies. I barely shared. I also had a cortadito, which is espresso, sugar, and either evaporated or whole milk frothed. Total cost including tip was $13.00.

Jackson market as a whole in terms of ambiance, variety, taste definitely overtakes bay cities but if you're just talking about comparing food quality sand which to sand which it will be a tough TIE (it's not less) than bay cities. Bay cities is loaded and so is Jackson but bay cities is a little more juicier where the inside sandwich ingredients shine more and you can definitely taste each of the ingredients eg banana peppers meats deli cheese etc. Jackson market's Italian sub had harder bread but I could see like some would argue it's more balanced. It definitely is a little less juicy and even though there were complimentary banana peppers I hardly tasted it at all as it was sprinkled far and few. If you paid for an added topping eg. Jalepenos they were definitely generous with it. Tip: DO NOT get the French baguette toasted as it'll be too hard. The market is fun because it also offers wine selections ($20-$60), not a fun cheese selection like bay cities, pasta salad, bomb tiramisu, has an entire PIZZA OVEN in the back, fun canned drinks including GUAYABA (an aloe tasting like drink), pastries, and chips/snacks. Ambiance - the patio in the back is spacious and big. They don't allow you to bring a computer to work there and the WiFi and service is pretty bad there. Parking - street parking along residential homes 2 subs ($14.99/each), 2 drinks, 1 large chip ($4.95) came out to be around $44. Overall an amazing find. The 10/10 would come back & especially try the pizza. Revolutionary in food taste ? Probably not but revolutionary in enjoyability and spot find? 1000%. Happy munching !

I got the chai latte and a hummus bowl with falafel (though as I write this I can't remember if that was the actual menu name of the dish). Sometimes falafel is too dang dry, and they really got it right. The hummus was phenomenal. I'm really such a sucker for a good, quality hummus and it was so creamy and the oil they topped it with was wonderful too. The food overall was very mediocre for what they charged. Actually every dish was very salty, like a mouthful of salt. The ambiance, presentation, and plating were very nice, but did not make up for the lack of 'wow' on the actual taste we were hoping for. Not only was it unremarkable, I'm not sure I would even call it delicious. It was just eh, and we ate it because we already ordered it. Honestly for a pure Indian food fix (no frills on "high end" ambiance) I would rather just go to an Indian lunch buffet for the price of one entree here, or even the Samosa house 3 item combo for less than $20, where the appetizers and food are way more delicious and fulfilling. - wagyu beef kulcha- do not recommend. Salty and reminiscent of a Mexican pizza made with ground beef. Don't be fooled by the "wagyu" label - crab bhuna- a bit of a letdown compared to reviews. The banana buns were good. The crab mixture was salty and the crab taste gets lost inside the heavily flavored sauce - gobhi bezule cauliflower- was okay. The sauce was a bit heavy - kotu parotta - mediocre flavored beef mush on the salty side. Unsure why other yelpers raved about this. - date and almond korma- the 4 little kormas were meh, but the sauce was good though. Kind of like your standard orange tikka masala sauce. - garlic naan - ironically my favorite dish they made here haha. It was actually crispy but had a fluffy chew and wasn't burnt. At least they got this right for $7 naan! Overall would not reorder any of these dishes and would not return. I love Indian food and really wanted to like the place but sadly it did live up to the 4.8 star expectations. Also random aside, when we walked in the restaurant smelled of commercial cleaning solution (like at the gas station), and the bathroom had heavy air too which made me hold my breath; would recommend some air purifier machines to neutralize the air.

The service was great, as well as the timing of the food and drinks arriving after we ordered. The food was great, and they gave you nice portions that can be shared. Everything we ordered was tasty, as well as my friends were raving about the dishes they ordered. I will definitely recommend, and myself and my husband will be back for sure. Looking forward to trying their breakfast, and more dinner items on the menu. Don't sleep on this spot, its excellent!

Ahhhhh I finally got to try a viral/trendy place to eat in LA. This sandwich was so so worth it!…read moreThe price is seemingly alot but you get 2 regular sized sandos in one. I got the #1 bestseller and it did NOT disappoint. I can see why someone wouldn't like it because it is rather plain but I prefer plain sandwiches myself. I like the ingredients to speak for themselves and not be coated in extra sugar or salt. I'm also a big fan of pistachio, the amount they put on is not for the faint of heart... hehe This place is clean, the line is efficient and friendly. I recommend stopping by. I came here as recommendation from Joshua Weissman's YT video of trying LA foods.

This location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown is the smallest of the three I've visited, with under 10 seats available. It's a compact shop, and most customers opt for takeout. It's a narrow shop, and most customers take their orders to-go. I've previously enjoyed the La Paradiso and La Toscana, with the La Paradiso being my personal favorite. For our first visit with our son, we asked the staff for recommendations, and they suggested either the Venice Beach (Turkey) or the New Yorker (Roast Beef). The staff was incredibly generous, offering a roast beef sample, which our son loved! We also appreciated them providing ice and straws for our water. We ordered the New Yorker ($19.00) with roast beef, porcini cream, tomato, and arugula. The sandwich was thoughtfully cut in half, perfect for sharing. The schiacciata bread boasts a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior, which beautifully complements the meats and cheeses. We opted to substitute the porcini cream for mozzarella, which was sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces and tasted incredibly fresh. The roast beef was thinly sliced and tender, the tomatoes were fresh and sliced to perfection, and the arugula added a delightful peppery crunch. It's a well-balanced sandwich and one of the best in LA. We would definitely order it again. A big thank you to the female staff member who expertly cut the meat and offered samples, assisting us in making the perfect choice for my son's sandwich. This experience was truly a positive one for our family. I would definitely return to AAV for the excellent food and service. Given the small size of the shop, takeout is recommended, especially during peak hours. The sandwiches at AAV are so good! Fuggedaboutit!
