I was there 2 weeks ago and the customer service is no longer good, the woman is always sitting behind the counter and hardly checks on the customers. The food this time around was not good as my chicken was not cooked well. I ordered jerked chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was hard as if it was frozen then cooked. Delicious Cuban food and attentive service in a cozy inviting atmosphere. Since I'm vegan I usually get a bunch of sides. Black beans, white rice, avocado salad , fried tostones and that's enough to make me happy and going back to this place like it's my job. I also love their Sangria. It's not just some chopped fruit in a glass with red wine poured over it. It's legit Sangria. And as I mentioned the service there is always so warm and welcoming. Like you just went to your aunt and uncles place for dinner. Parking can be kind of tricky on that street because of all the different businesses but it's not impossible. I came for dinner during the week and I enjoyed it very much. Since I came late I missed out on Arroz con Pollo, but next time. I had the Papa Relleno and it was tasty. The meat inside was really good and filling. For my entree I had Carne con Papas which comes with rice and beans. The dish itself was so filling and the beef was cooked perfectly. I typically do not eat rice, but I almost finished it because I love how the beans were mixed in with the rice. Overall my dinner was delicious and satisfying. Not the place I would recommend if you're looking for authentic Cuban food. Not to say it's bad. Just not Cuban food by any means. It's more of the bland "American" Spanish food. Another mom n pop Cuban restaurant crossed off my list. We thought the entrées, salad, dessert at this cute cafe was very good. Entrée portions are definitely shareable between two hungry adults. The appetizers of calamari and papa rellena (potato balls) we tried were terrible. I skip those next time. If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend their house made flan. Very good. The "best sellers" here according to our waitress are the Arroz con Pollo (chicken rice) and Ropa Vieja (Shredded beef braised with veggies and aromatics); also the Media Noche Sandwich. I am sure will be back at some point on multiple visits try them out. Overall, we like it here. From what I can tell, it's never overly crowded with high take-out volume from locals/hipster area. We came in on a Saturday afternoon because we were craving some Cuban food. The yelp reviews seemed promising, so my sister, mom, and I decided to come for a late lunch. The service was atrocious. Cashier/waitress seemed bothered we came in, but the place was empty. No friendly smile, nothing, just an unwelcoming demeanor. We took a look at the menu, but we already felt like a bother so we got up and left. Can't say much about the food, but the service alone was enough for us to leave. I really wanted to like this place because of the amazing reviews, but the food was mediocre at best, maybe because I'm used to eating at places like Versaille or Habana Vieja. My first choice was El Cochinito, but unfortunately they are closed on Monday's. My cousin and her bf was visiting from London and they had never tried Cuban before so was hoping to take them to a delicious place. Maybe it was an off day? There was only server, but the restaurant is pretty small, around 8 tables. My husband and I got there first and we knew the other party was going to be late so we ordered a Cubano as an appetizer, but she never put the order in. Not a problem, because we ended up ordering it once they arrived. I read in the reviews that someone said it was the worst Cubano she had and I unfortunately have to agree - very little amount of meat, pickles, couldn't taste the mustard, but the bread was nice. We also ordered the Bistec De Palomilla which was overcooked, dry and had gristly/fat parts that were off putting. The onions on top were good and the sweet plantains/maduros were the best item of the night. We ordered an extra side of them too. The Lechon had the same issue of being overcooked and I'm used to it being shredded with a delicious citrusy note. This was tough, flattened out and bland. The rice and beans were OK, a little overcooked and a bit flavorless, but edible. Finally, the Papas Rellenas - I'm pretty sure they were microwaved because the outside was so soggy instead of crispy and the inside was pretty bland. The one female server that was working that night was very attentive and sweet, but I wouldn't drive 30 minutes to come back. Cuban food brought me back to my roots! The server was so sweet she kept calling me "mi amor" it made me absolutely melt! Yucca frita was crispy, salad was avg, Mamey shake was mmm so creamy and perfectly sweet and the arroz con pollo was moist, flavorful sweet and salty and came w plantains! Only bummer is it didn't come with black beans, it's a whole other side you need to order separately. There's lots of cute stores and places to walk to in the area, good hang out spot. read more

Oh my goodness. What cold, bordering on nasty, service I got. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, the place was nearly empty, and I just got a nasty look from the Hispanic cashier. No hi or any acknowledgment at all otherwise. I was staring at the menu for a minute and even then no help or acknowledgment offered. Plus it was a little odd that my sandwich came out to $20 even when I said I was paying cash (no receipt offered, hmmm). Shout out to my yelp friend Cindy who found this place for me. I originally was going to get the pork, but I saw 'jerk chicken' on the menu. I was too curious, so I got the 'jerk chicken.' Unfortunately, it was more interesting than good. It doesn't taste like traditional jerk chicken. There's no carribean spices, it just seems like it was their own thing. Granted the waitress warned me it was spicy, and it was so spicy, I almost didn't like it. The flavors were very interesting, but I probably wouldn't order it again. This place is and has always been phenomenal. I am genuinely confused by any negative reviews. Not once had anyone been rude to me when I've called to place my order and pick it up or when we've eaten there. The ropa vieja, carne con papas, and arroz con pollo are our favorites. Their empanadas and of course the plantains (we prefer sweet but both are good) are also amazing. Our kids love the rice and beans and buttered bread. They're very kid friendly when you eat in. Picked up dinner here again for the 3rd or 4th time tonight and have eaten there a time or two now as well. NEVER disappoints. The food is amazing and they have lots of wines to choose from (and make a mean Sangria). The prices are very fair and for the quality and portions a pretty damn good deal. What we have tried as a family includes: the Ropa Vieja, Lechon, Arroz con Pollo and another chicken dish that I can't recall the name. So, it was good but not as memorable as these others. Also tried the Tres Leches and it was so sweet and rich it took 3 days to eat it all. LOL There are several other menu items we want to try but get stuck on our favorites. There's a shrimp dish that is supposed to be amazing and I really want to try their Cuban. May be going back again sooner than later. The pics are from the first time we picked up. Ropa Vieja is a yummy stew with beef and is THEE national dish in Cuba. Woot Woot cuz this spot offers a DELISH Ropa Vieja! The stew's wine tomato sauce is delectable. The staff was ultra-polite and welcomed us in the typical hospitable Cuban way. The food was delish (we ordered the Ropa Vieja dish, a vegetarian sandwich, yucca and two Iron Beers). Absolutely incredible food and really nice staff! This is one of the best meals I've had in awhile. We went with the Arroz Con Pollo, Media Noche Sandwich and a side of Yucca Fries. The rice was the most flavorful rice I've ever had, so fluffy and tasted incredible. The chicken was super flavorful as well and perfectly tender, basically fell off of the bone. Yucca was fried perfectly and served with a simple olive oil and garlic dipping sauce. Some of the best yucca fries I've had. The plantains were crispy and had a great level of sweetness without being toooo candied. I love Cuban food and authentic food. This place has it all. From the outside it may look like a little place but inside a romantic place for a date or quiet place for a lunch meeting or quiet lunch alone to get work done while you eat. Service is always great. When she ask for Togo the food is the same as if you go it in the restaurant. Most restaurants give you smaller portions or skimp this restaurant does not. I love that on a beautiful day you can sit outside and enjoy a meal and take in the fresh air and enjoy a meal with great service. This is a must place to try you won't regret. read more

Lately during covid I been feeling more of let's try a place and support local businesses. Not really looking at yelp to steer me in any direction but only on what I should order. So today we decided on Cuban. We have not even had Cuban together. We got two empanadas and their shredded pork with rice and black beans. We devoured the empanadas sorry not so sorry no pictures. It was really good with sour cream and tomatoes they provided on the side to add with the empanadas. The shredded pork with rice and black beans tasted comforting with really good tomato based sauce. We literally at the end dumped all the rice and bean in the sauce and ate it all. I recommend this place. They have outdoor seating and yummy sangria! Enjoy! read more
