New liquor shelves with new options

I walked into this establishment to find out that things have changed. I saw a new face and he introduced himself saying that he's the new owner. John has recently bought the place and has changed a good amount already. From the store hours opening until 11pm every night, to new liquor shelves and a whole lot more items to choose from. I asked for a certain product to which he stated that due to him taking ownership, obtaining distribution companies are a work in progress. He then, wrote the product down on a list filled with items that other customers have asked for. I then talked to him and asked him what his plans were for the shop and he stated that construction will take place soon and that it's going to be a full refresh from what the store was from before, while keeping the things that people enjoyed. He also stated that he plans on building a better image for the store and building the relationships for the locals, something the previous owner never cared about. Seems like big changes are coming for this place and looks to be in a positive way.

Our gluten free cider and local beers...

We walked in to pickup some beverages for the Super Bowl and the young guy behind the counter was so helpful. I wanted gluten free cider and I told my husband not to ask Bc I feel like that's an embarrassing question to ask when you're not in LA where everyone has a food sensitivity, but he asked anyway and we were hooked up, I even have some to take home! We also got some local brews for the hubby. Added bonus was the cute pup named Dookie who greeted us! If you get to meet the store pet, added bonus! I did read the reviews from others about the owner not being nice. I don't think he was there, I guess call ahead if you're worried about the owner being mean

Really cool liquor store with so many great choices! I love the decor and the psychedelic posters in the back. The owner was a bit hesitant to interact with us when we first arrived, but after seeing how excited we were about his store, he warmed up to us. He educated us on the types of beer he had and the distributors he used, it was a cool and fun experience buying beer from here! I just wanted to point out that although other people have had bad experiences here, the owner is really nice when you get to know him. You really never know what someone is going through in their personal lives or how their day is going...I think we should all try to be more understanding when interacting with one another. It's a really stressful time for everyone, including business owners.

The guy working the counter is very rude and unhelpful. I don't recommend going here. There is a much better liquor store up the block.

Two trips in two days and both cashiers were about as friendly as a pet rock. Last night's guy had the shakes. Today's lady only said "would you like your receipt." The self-bagging idea is good. At least you can pack your items as you want. But. Maybe. If there was a courtesy clerk who would do it for you. Elderly couple in front of me did their own cart. Meanwhile, three associates (maybe even a manager) were living their best life near the courtesy desk. During rush hour, staff should be ready to help. Other reviews say every check stand is open. Today. Maybe 50%. Self checkout is usually a good bet, but when the line is turned and backed to past the ice cream aisle, you know it's slow going. At least the store does a great job of living up to "mountain time."

The ride up the hill is always relaxing and scenic, at times you can see wild turkeys and other wildlife, taking the old Millerton road you ride past a property that has Bison, Alpacas and Giraffes along with horses and cattle. A ride with a late breakfast was in order so after riding through the hills it was time to satisfy my biker appetite and dig into some delicious food. As you can see I chose a hearty meal something common but still appreciated. The restaurant was a buzz with other travelers and with the TV on and conversation wafting through the air the thought of my travels around the lower 48 states occupied my mind. The service was prompt (never an empty coffee cup) and even the proprietor shared the duty of checking the customers at the counter bar (he was very cool). The decor was reflective of the years gone by and I could identify myself with some of the items seen, always a nice touch. Be sure to travel and see the these small mom n pop business you gain much more than just a good meal, included is a view to the past and maybe just maybe a glimpse of yourself back in time.

It's a small little convience store/restaurant on making Tollhouse Road with a large menu of many American and Italian cuisine classics. Everytime, you are instantly greeted with the friendly, Tollhouse charm of the staff. I would recommend calling in your order ahead of time, as it can take 10-20 minutes for it to be ready. My favorite item from them is the Reuben sandwich, a pastrami served on grilled marbled rye bread with 1000 islander dressing, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. The menu says that it comes with a pickle spear, but I think that I have only had that once when I dined in. It also comes with French fries that are well seasoned and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The sandwich is always so perfectly cooked and juicy and leaves you feeling satisfied with the portion size. Truly the best Reuben sandwich I've ever had. As much as I have wanted to try other options on the menu, their Reuben is just that exceptional that I absolutely need to get it anytime I'm near the area.

And as a crucial resupply point for JMT and PCT thru-hikers, it's invaluable... although if you don't have supplies shipped in, you're then subject to the prices they charge, which are quite high-- and yet make sense, considering everything has to be trucked in over a narrow mountain road. Food is pretty meh, but whether or not you've just finished a couple of days in the backcountry, or a couple of hours, it is nice to have a cold drink and a slice of indifferent pie with store-brand ice cream for the king's ransom they charge. I don't know what that should equate to, but averaging it out is... rough.
