The veg platter comes with 3 falafel balls so we added 2 adding to make it 9 balls total, got sauces on side and extra pita bread to make it a full meal for 2 people all under $20. The platter comes with enough hummus, baba ganoush, tahini and salad to make atleast 3 full pita sandwiches on your own. Quick service, helpful staff that give you water when needed and more sauce if needed as well. This East Village location is great for a quick, fast casual meal. They have two kiosks you can order from, but we ordered from the staff member at the counter, and the service was fast and friendly around 6pm on a Saturday evening. I ordered their West Village sandwich: falafel and baba ganouj served in a pita pocket with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, and tahina sauce. My husband had their lamb shawarma plate (lamb marinated with their signature spice blend and cooked slowly on a stand-up rotisserie, served over choice of salad or seasoned rice and tahina sauce - and pita bread on the side). I recently visited Mamoun's Falafel to purchase a falafel sandwich, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. The most alarming issue was that there appeared to be no functioning air conditioning inside the restaurant. On a day when temperatures were well over 90 degrees, the dining area was unbearably hot. As a paying customer who enjoys dining in, it was extremely uncomfortable and made it impossible to enjoy the meal. I also felt bad for the employees, who were forced to work in those conditions for an entire shift. Beyond the discomfort, the lack of proper climate control raises serious concerns about food safety. If the establishment is unable to maintain a reasonable indoor temperature, it makes me question whether food is consistently being held at the proper temperatures required for safe consumption. This is something that I believe should be looked into by the appropriate authorities. Overall, the experience was dreadful. Between the excessive heat and concerns about food safety, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this location to others. read more

I sat outside to enjoy my Macdougal sandwich (mix of chicken shawarma and falafel). The tables are kind of dirty, not sure if they are wiped in between guests. The sandwich was huge and filling. They are super generous with the meat fillings. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich. Saved half for later and it was still delicious. I had the sauce on the side but I wasn't a fan of the sauce so I enjoyed my sandwich without any sauces and it was still very flavorful. read more

Really decent sandwich - I got the lamb shawarma for pickup on a rainy Wednesday and it was still pretty bustling in the restaurant with people ordering to go and picking up as well. There's about 10 seats there and looks like there is usually outdoor seating. The employee was quick with the status update of my order! The lamb shawarma was in a pita pocket with a big portion of sliced lamb, lettuce tomatoes and onions and sauce. It was really good, warm and filling but the only was that at the bottom 1/5 of it is just lettuce so you end with about 2-3 bites of no lamb, just pita and lettuce lol. Came on a Sat afternoon and it was rightfully busy! This is my favorite spot to get tasty + affordable falafel sandwiches. I ordered the Classic in the past and enjoyed it a lot, so I ordered the West Village this time. The baba ghanouj in the sandwich gave a delicious addition to the tahini and paired perfectly with the falafel! I personally didn't find the overall taste of West Village to be MUCH different from the Classic, besides the pickles adding a sour crunch, but it was still very yummy + great to try something new! It's cheap, good food with quality ingredients-- what more can you ask for. I got one of the specialty sandwiches (west 4th) with hummus and shawarma and some falafel on the side. Some of the best falafel i've eaten and that's coming from someone who doesn't usually like falafel. The sandwich was definitely good and the lamb was flavorful but to be honest I felt like the hummus had no flavor and was extremely liquidy. I don't even know if they gave me hummus because it only tasted like straight tahini and it kinda overpowered the sandwich and made the pita soggy but I did still enjoy it. The EV location is a casual eatery with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have an app for easy ordering ahead, as well as kiosks in-store. I ran into some difficulty while ordering on the kiosk, but the staff was able to ring me up using the number associated with my account for a very quick, and seamless experience. The staff is SUPER fast and equally as friendly! Between the kiosk and ordering at the cashier, I got the Bleecker and Macdougal confused and said the former at first. After realizing my mistake, I asked if it was too late to change it and the staff accommodated the request. It probably took a solid 2-3 minutes for my order to be prepared between ordering and exiting. Normally, this would be a red flag if the order is prepared so quickly that food is not made to order, but this is not the case at Mamoun's since it's just so busy that turnover is very quick. The Macdougal is beef shawarma with falafel, salad, and tahini in a standard plain pita. The beef was great quality with a nice mix of well-seasoned caramelized fatty slices and tender lean protein. The falafel was delicious and certainly lives up to the hype, easily being in my top three falafels I've had in this city. The falafels were well-seasoned, soft and very robust. Everything was fresh and they layered the sandwich such that pieces of salad appeared throughout rather than just on top or the side. The sandwich was a little dry at the end because there was not tahini at the bottom to prevent it from wilting. Next time, I'll definitely try it with a spicy sauce and toum, as I thought these elements were missing from making it a classic shawarma sandwich. For $10, the Macdougal shawarma was super filling and satisfying, easily being a meal on its own. read more

The fries are still good and mint tea, but the falafel balls are often too crunchy; sometimes even teethbreaking for me these days, so I get the shwarma. The Shwarma these days often a bit on the burnt side and has mad lettuce in it. Another thing is today, I sat outside, and a black employee comes out (not making it racial, just letting people know who was the one for accountability,) starts cleaning the window, and sprays so much window cleaner, and I'm just like why the fuck do you have to do that when customers are there? Just do that early morning or late at night, not during lunch time. Not only that, but she was stepping on the chairs (4 chairs, not at least carrying 1 around) and leaving foot print marks on the chairs. That's mad irresponsible, and I don't like to see that. I randomly had a craving for a chicken pita so I stopped by this Lil spot off st marks place that serves falafel and other options. I ordered the Sullivan which is one of their chicken pita options. The chicken is cubed and they are good size chunks. Chicken is flavorful and not dry. The sandwich is missing a little flavor so I added the garlic sauce to it and it made it much better. The only complaint I have is the size. They give a half pita which is packed but it should be a larger sized sandwich overall.
