I went to mana bowls to get a quick snack, I ordered a Hanalei bowl which looked super yummy. 30 mins later I go back into the shop to find that my order was still not ready and that they seemed to had forgotten my order completely. When I finally received my order it was the wrong size and wrong type of bowl. It was missing all the toppings and the main ingredient, pineapple. I was very disappointed in the management of this facility. It seemed to be run by a bunch of high schoolers. With this, they also were not wearing gloves when preparing our food. YOU BETTER HOPE THEY BOUGHT GLOVES HERE! I am BEYOND disgusted with the service my family and I received! We came in yesterday after hiking Alamere falls and I was so excited to get an acai bowl UNTIL I walked into this place. I think a health inspector needs to come in and reevaluate this spot before somebody gets sick! First of all, there was no one welcoming in the customers. Second, it wasn't clear where the line started. I politely asked a woman standing next to the counter if she was in line and she refused so I continued to stand behind the person at the register. After that woman ordered, 5 other people that were standing outside came in and literally walked in front of me and started ordering. Luckily for them I was in a good mood so I didn't let it bother me because I assumed they were all from the same party. However, I didn't receive any apology or explanation from the employee. After she took the orders of the people who cut me she immediately turned around and started making their bowls when I was at the register. After what seemed like forever she decided to turn back around and ask me if I was ready AFTER I clearly was since I had been standing there for more than 10 minutes. I said yes and she asked me to wait while she continued to make bowls... now this isn't even the worst part. The MOST DISGUSTING THING that happened that day is the fact that she was making the bowls with HER BARE HANDS WITHOUT WASHING THEM AFTER TOUCHING MONEY AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THAT PLACE AND ON TOP OF THAT SHE HAD A NASTY OLD BAND AID ON HER RIGHT HAND. OH AND IT GETS WORSE, BETWEEN BOWLS SHE COUGHED INTO HER HAND AND WOULD LICK HER FINGER TIPS AS SHE WAS MAKING THEM. I literally lost my appetite and was going to walk out the door but THANKFULLY my cousin stopped her and told her she needed to wash her hands. I was excited to find this place but will not be going back after a second visit. Fist visit was ok but that day, a man was cleaning the floors with bleach smell, and place was in disarray. Ordered a medium acai bowl $10 but looked small. Workers don't wear gloves to prep food so hope for best I guess. Second visit, ordered the same $10 medium acai bowl and I asked if it comes with goji berries and the server said we can add it without saying whether free or not...bills me $12 so extra goji berries are $2, I thought ok. But when I got my bowl, it was just half filled and hardly any goji berries were added. I thought that it was such a ripped off for the price plus extra $2. Even though it's pretty good acai bowl, it's not very generous so I won't be going back. I can make my own at home easily with generous portions. This place used to be my favorite place to eat in Fairfax a couple years ago but it's been going steadily downhill since then. Prices are misrepresented, staff is rude and does not care to perform basic job tasks, constantly out of many menu items, dirty and sticky counters. The last time I went here with my family there were dirty dishes all over the shop and lots of flies. The girl behind the counter was very slow to do anything and was too laid back for any kind of an hourly job. About 1/3 of the items on the menu had post-its covering them saying they were out of stock. I attempted to order something that was not covered with a post-it already only to be told they were out of that too. I asked her what they do have in stock since the menu post-it system was misleading and she wouldn't tell me what they did have, just that I should pick something else off the menu on the wall. I picked something else and said what size I wanted. She started ringing it up and the price was quite a bit higher than the one listed on the menu for that item and size. So we inquired as to if that was sales tax adding $2 to the price and she told us that they raised their prices and haven't updated the menu on the wall yet - but that they were awaiting the delivery of a new menu board with updated prices soon... the menu was hand-written in chalk pen, which is removable with water for easy editing. I pointed out that it was misleading to not have the correct price for the food listed or even a post-it note indicating that it might be different since they went through the trouble of writing post-its about items that were out of stock. The girl just claimed it wasn't her fault because they didn't have the new menu board (8'x6') yet. Needless to say we ended up having lunch somewhere else. read more

I have to admit I figured this was going to be another disgustingly healthy overpriced hippie shack. It's actually pretty frikkin' delicious! I'm not so sure about the bowls with avocado and kale on top of the acai but the surf bowl I got was great and really refreshing on a hot day. Was it a little pricey? Yes. But with the Good Earth, Whole Foods, Andronicos and the rest setting the bar so high for price gouging, the prices here actually seem reasonable. I must be getting jaded. However, today I went right when they opened and they were not open at said time (10am). Instead they were 15 minutes late opening. I ordered two bowls - a Cataract Falls and a Bright Pitaya. I ordered the Pitaya bowl with chocolate chips and received no chocolate chips. So I paid for chocolate chips I did not receive. In addition, my Cataract Falls bowl did not have said mango and strawberries which is why I ordered this bowl. I am a little frustrated and saddened with Mana Bowl because I love this place so much.
