On April 3rd, 2017 I had an emergency where I had to move my mother-in-law from an independent apartment to an assisted living apartment. Due to the urgency of this move, I was advised by the facility that Managed Moves might be able to get the move done if they had the time. When I contacted Managed Moves, it was determined they could get me on their schedule the same day. It was probably one of the best moving experiences in my life. The movers, Steve and Johnny, arrived at the time specified. They communicated with me before they arrived and gave me an estimate on how much time would be needed for the move. I had already been advised by Pam at their office of their rates, and what any additional costs would be incurred. There were no surprises or issues, I knew what my bill would be by the time they were done. Steve and Johnny got to work immediately, taking each item I requested from the eighth floor down to the 2nd floor of the facility where mom lives. Each article of furniture was wrapped, protected and transported with care. Johnny also made certain that an antique curio cabinet was treated with more care than I could ever have given it during a move. Both of these gentlemen were respectful of the items and made sure they were positioned exactly where I wanted them. Because of their knowledge of many of the retirement/assisted living facilities in the area and their skills at moving, I would highly recommend Managed Moves, Steve and Johnny to anyone who needs moving assistance. I highly recommend Managed Moves. They moved my elderly father from an apartment to an independent/assisted living facility in June 2018. We utilized their packing, moving, clean-out and unpacking services. From the in-person estimate to the move and unpacking, they did a terrific job. Moving, especially moving elderly people, takes a lot of special skills and experience and Managed Moves has them. In short, don't hesitate to get an estimate from Managed Moves, then you can decide for yourself. The staff at MM instilled confidence and made me and my dad feel confident, giving us more peace of mind. Their front desk staff checked in several times before and during the move to make sure everything was going well and to answer any questions we had. They considered ways to save us money, such as looking for the most efficient ways to pack the truck to move my dad's items and handle the items to donate/recycle. They were very honest about the value of things to sell or donate, many things not having the value you think. They took great effort to donate as much as possible using their network of contacts. The final bill came very close to the estimate. The one surprise is that they needed to change the move date to earlier, because they deal with unexpected scheduling changes when dealing with senior moves. Managed Moves helped us move my mom into assisted living yesterday. Chelsie helped with the packing and unpacking and Darrin and Tristan did the actual heavy moving. We've moved my mom a few times and this was by far the smoothest and best executed. Chelsie was so calm and organized and she paid careful attention to where things were on shelves so she could put it all back together the same way and carefully wrapped things to protect my mom's cherished possessions. She also prioritized the order of moving heavy things so her unpacking went as quickly and easily as possible. Darrin and Tristan were very patient and helpful and made sure we were 100% satisfied with the furniture placements before they left. Downsizing is always a little bit of a puzzle process - you can imagine where the furniture needs to go - but until you see it in the new space you can't be sure - and we had to redo a few decisions. Good - Outrageously Good I handed the task of helping me empty my mother's family home of 50 years. Chelsie came out to do the estimate and made plans for packing, loading UPack Cubes, and emptying the remainder of items in the house. Chelsie, Marie, Carol, and Janet did a professional job of packing items to survive the trip in the Cubes. Steve, Philip, Isaac, and Javas wrapped everything in stretch wrap, packing paper and moving blankets, and then loaded and strapped the items in the Cubes. Everything arrived at the destination without damage! The day before emptying the house I discovered an attic full of stuff. Chelsie reassured me they would handle it - no problem. The next day Chelsie, Philip, and Uly emptied the attic, sorted the items, loaded the truck twice and donated, recycled, or disposed of the items. I was left with an empty house - very nice! If you don't have enough family or friends to help you move, or you don't want the stress, I highly recommend Managed Moves! Managed Moves helped us move my elderly father, which was a monumental task, as he was moving from a large, multi room apartment, to a small one bedroom apartment. The coordinated effort would require movers to delicately move large antique furniture, to various locations, as well as dispose of old broken furniture, donations of furniture that was of no use to him, etc. Lots of "moving" parts to this plan (no pun intended), and Managed Moves executed the entire move seamlessly. Not only was everything expertly delivered to it's specific destination, the final bill was hundreds of dollars less expensive than the quote given, to which we were grateful. The movers were friendly, considerate, patient and thoughtful throughout the entire process, even when there was some situations that arose unexpectedly, due to our haste (not theirs), and they managed each hurdle with grace. On Aug. 19-20 2019, we moved from our former home in NE Portland to Terwilliger Plaza downtown. Terwilliger management mentioned Managed Moves as one of the options for handling this type of relocation. We followed their advice by choosing Managed Moves and are glad we did. The two gentlemen from Managed Moves (Darrin and Philip) who did the heavy lifting on moving day were at the top of their game and helped make the experience as fast and pleasant as possible. And the packers who came to the house the day before the move (Maia and Lars) were also extremely careful and helpful in getting everything ready to go. Darrin and Philip were already familiar with the ins and outs of accessing Terwilliger Plaza, experience that came in very handy when parking the truck in tight quarters, dealing with the bottleneck of one elevator being out of commission and hauling boxes and furniture to our seventh floor apartment; fortunately the freight elevator was working. Amazing team over at Managed Moves. From the office to the packers and movers, everything was spot on! Quick to respond and easy to schedule. The walk through was great and the estimate was what we expected. Moving my father out of his house and into an assisted living apartment was weighing heavily on me, but then we found Managed Moves. All we had to do was tag things we wanted and they took care of the rest, literally. They came and packed everything up, taking special care of the artwork and glass pieces. Best part of the service is that they UNPACKED everything too! Never knew this service was available. Before my Dad passed away he was a collector of all sorts of items, all dating from the 1930's to 1990. Roomfuls of collectibles with furniture, some in good condition, were stored upstairs and in the basement in my parents 1947 Portland home. It was a daunting task to sell everything to collectors, separate out items to donate, and empty the entire house for sale. Billy, Phillip, Tim & Janet Damn these people were good. Our aunt has not moved in over 50 years so her stress level was very high. They were considerate of age and frailty without being condescending. They were thorough w/out being rushed or simply slamming out the job. They hit every high point there was to hit in packing, un-packing and helping to set everything up in her new apartment. It was the sort of experience where you start to get a little shifty eyed looking for the "gottcha!" I highly recommend Managed moves from first hand experience! We hired Managed Moves to move my 92 year old parents from their home of 55 years. We were very impressed with their care and concern. They were sensitive to their situation and made them feel very secure in the move. On moving day, Steve helped us transition my folks to their new place, and was very kind and efficient with getting things done and helping my folks resettle. You could tell that they have had experience working with elderly customers! We also hired Krista to do an estate sale while I was out of the country. She went out of her way to meet with my parents several times before and after the sale. I first worked with Managed Moves over 5 years ago when I was the Marketing and Leasing Director at a Senior Independent Living community. I currently work in another community and always refer MM. Managed Moves assisted with my mothers move to senior living. They were a pleasure to work with. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they worked with the Senior living facility, and checked in with me periodically. They explained all their cleaning and safety measures for the move. My mom had lived in her house for 60 years so this was a big move for her. The movers Tim and Sam arrived right on time, were considerate, efficient and communicated well through the process. Once at Calaroga, they had to stop for a short time to allow for a food delivery. They checked in with the office and deducted the time from the total moving hours. All my moms belongings arrived in perfect shape. They took the time to setup all the furniture where it should go and had suggestions where a few things would fit best. Estimator, packer, movers, and unpacker performed very satisfactory work, making moving my 90-year-old friend from independent-living to assisted-living facilities very easy and pleasant. All four were friendly, courteous, and treated my friend and me with respect (laughing politely at the 10th repeat of her inquiries as to whether she would be carried out in her chair or put in a box for the move!). Packing was done efficiently with care. Every item was handled as if precious. Movers worked steadily, observing carefully what was to go to the new apartment and what was to be donated to a charity. Move-in was quickly accomplished, and the packer returned to unpack. She unpacked and put away in a good place everything, down to the smallest knickknack. We were able to take advantage of many of their services, including working with Ethan, our estimator, and their packers and movers. They worked through moving a large and heavy piece of furniture and were still able to pack us up and move us in to our new place on the same day. Wowser! They also camea few days before our BIG MOVE and moved two pieces of furniture to a neighbor's home since we were downsizing. If you are looking for a moving company I can't recommend Managed Moves high enough. I had a brother who moved out of a two bedroom apartment when he was no longer able to care for himself. We contacted Krista at Managed Moves to get an idea of the cost and services they provided. They not only packed, moved and set up his stuff at an independent living facility but also disposed of unwanted items and organized and held an estate sale for him, all at a VERY reasonable cost. They have also assisted in another move of his to an assisted living facility. They took what were very stressful situations and made them very manageable at a reasonable cost. You can find movers who will show up, pack their truck and deliver you stuff, but Steve and Krista at Managed Moves go way beyond to make sure that the stress of moving is minimized. read more

Best move ever in all the 50+ years I've moved, on average every 3-5 years. (unfortunately, I hope where I'm at now is my last, or I'd use them) However, this move was my Mom's from Assisted Living apartment to storage upon her death. Peter was punctual, professional, courteous, very well organized, and knew exactly what to do. He advised me on items and handling, which I was unaware of, and took the pressure off my shoulders. My husband and recently moved from a large house to an apartment, after he received a diagnosis of ALS.
