when I found out at the last minute before I moved that the people who were supposed to help me weren't going to, I searched for movers who did labor only. I didn't need a truck because I was moving in to a different apartment in the same building. Oregon Trail movers was able to fit me in on the day that I needed them. They showed up at the beginning of the window they gave me. They were prepared with everything they needed to do the move. The price was very reasonable. I hired them to help me pack for a long distance move. The two guys that came were on time and friendly, and Oregon Trail was cheaper than any of my other options. But that's where the positive things ended. They didn't bring enough packing supplies (boxes, blankets, and tape) even though I asked them in advance if there was anything they wanted me to buy. Then, when they arrived and I saw how little they had, I asked if I should run out and buy some more materials. They reassured me that we would have enough. We did not have enough. We straight up ran out of the boxes and tape they brought. We had to use some boxes I bought just in case. After using my "just in case" boxes, WE STILL DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH. They packed at least 50% of my stuff in used boxes that already had scribbled notes on them from the previous move, like "LIVING ROOM" and "FRAGILE" when they weren't being used to contain my living room things. When I unpacked at my new apartment, I had no idea where anything was supposed to go. They didn't wrap fragile items in paper; most things were just thrown in boxes. They didn't bring a single wardrobe hanger, so none of my clothes could be packed hanging. They left multiple items behind, and I had to pack them myself. I went through the kitchen after they were done, and found random cups, lids, and bowls. If they had just looked into the cabinets ONCE after they were done to confirm they had gotten everything, they would have seen what they forgot. Maybe they didn't pack everything because THEY HAD NO BOXES TO PUT STUFF IN. I lost my KitchenAid mixer completely No clue where it got packed into. They were supposed to give me a receipt when they were done, and they did not. It was a mess, from start to end. Next time, I'm not going to hire a company just to pack. I'll get my movers to pack. The level of responsibility taken by a company that knows they only have to do one portion was so disappointingly low. read more

From start to finish, Oregon Trail Moving exceeded our expectations. We called the week before to request an estimate, and the woman who helped on the phone gave us great information on what to expect, how to prepare, etc. We are a 7-person family plus pets, plenty of furniture, and a piano, so this was a pretty big move. Plus, the old house had a terrible basement with not-up-to-code stairs, a loft bedroom, and while we had boxes packed we needed a lot of help getting tables and beds taken apart. We used 3 movers (Chad, Chris S, and John G). They showed up early and immediately walked through the house with me to understand my expectations and needs. It took NO TIME to get all the boxes loaded into our truck. By lunch, the truck was basically finished save for a few odds/ends that my wife and I found. Once at the new house, we were given the (literal) red carpet treatment. We were so touched by the care they took in getting our important items placed just right. We didn't even have to lift a finger to set any furniture up. Because the move was so large, we had to go back for a second trip, but again, the guys' attitudes and work ethic were above-and-beyond, and we were completely moved within about 10 hours of starting. I don't want to move again, but if I do I will reach out to Oregon Trail Moving as my first and only choice. This is months late, but we can't say enough great things about Oregon trail moving. They were so easy to book, the movers were on time and efficient, and the person on the phone was so patient and kind. We weren't sure what time our pod would arrive, and they were so nice and willing to work with us on timing, and to reschedule with no extra costs. The crew had our entire POD moved in 60 minutes from the second they got there from the second they left. Plus, all three were kind and put things exactly where we wanted them. They moved several very heavy pieces of furniture, including several upstairs and a few with marble tops, and they made it look effortless. It was like having 3 NFL players! This is the second time we have moved with Oregon Trail Moving company. The first time was within Portland, from an apartment to a house, and the second time from Portland to Seattle. The crew both times were wonderful- they handled our possessions with care, dismantled items that needed dismantling, plastic wrapped bookcases and drawers, thoughtfully wrapped our artwork and we have many delicate ceramic bowls- nothing broke or was damaged. The Seattle move took much longer than expected, and Carlos and Liam were unfailingly patient and considerate and good natured and were not phased by needing to rent an additional trailer, accommodating our schedule, and working a super long day. I mean, absolutely incredible. we just moved across the country and hubs and I have been trying to empty a dang POD for two months! ....we were stymied trying to carry stuff down steep basement stairs + heavy lifting. We're in our 50s & our friends are old and creaky like us...so we called these guys, spoke to incredibly helpful Jennifer, and - done! 3 dudes showed up the next morning and had the entire thing carefully emptied, delivered downstairs to the basement - in about an hour and a half. what we couldn't do in 2 months, they did in like an hour, with smiles and great attitudes. We used Oregon Trail Movers for an interstate move, and they were amazing! We boxed our own stuff and hired Oregon Trail to wrap our furniture and load everything onto the trailer. This included an upright piano and a 300 pound safe. We got 7 guys on day 1, it took them just under 4 hours to load an entire 28' trailer. On day 2, it took 2 guys about 3 hours to load 1/3 of a trailer. Pricing was as quoted, customer service both on the phone and in person was excellent. I had two 18' PODS and expected the three guys to take 4-5 hours to unload the PODS and place all the furniture and boxes where I wanted them. Instead they were done in about 3 hours! We've used them for 3 moves over the last 4 years. Professional service at a great value. Each of the teams we've worked with have always been hard working and respectful. Can't recommend enough literally a couple of my friends are hiring them in the next 2 weeks to assist with their moves. Something to think about for your move: Depending on how much stuff you have, how fast you want your move day to go, and how prepared you are... it might be worth it to higher 3 people for your move team. We've done both 2 and 3 people teams on our moves and I think the time you save with 3 people pencils out to be around same price as it takes less time. Also of note, the customer service has always been excellent. We had small damage at a house we re in the process of selling and the owner of Oregon Trail Moving called me up immediately and had it sorted and fixed with 48 hours. Also, when we hired different movers to unload our truck they were very impressed with the job done. Edit: I was extremely kind and understanding to not only these employees but also Nick, who texted me last night. I literally said to them "I'm sorry but we've decided that respectfully we need to ask you to leave. Thank you for your help." I thanked Nick yesterday for not charging me. He then got mad at me because I wouldn't remove this review. I told him I couldn't do so with integrity as my review is my honest experience. I was in the truck all evening until midnight reorganizing their "free labor." I have videos and pictures of all of the mess that was created. I will happily add a picture of my receipt of the $500 I paid for last minute movers as well as our narrow street that I spent 15 minutes attempting to park the uhaul in the driveway of (this coming from someone who's been driving these for 13 years). I will also post my conversation with Nick. The other company I used were excellent and I'll be leaving their company 5 stars like I've left for many companies over the years. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with movers. We had to ask them to leave. Two out of shape men (no problem, I'm out of shape too but don't be a mover if you are) showed up an hour and 15 minutes late to our move. They were supposed to arrive at 2. They called at 2:30 and said they'd be there in a half hour. They showed up at 3:15. That would have been fine but these men were extremely slow. I've hired professional movers at least 5 times now and never seen anyone go this slowly. One guy was just standing in the uhaul for literally 30 minutes "organizing" things without moving anything. The other was on the phone with his girlfriend for 20 minutes while very slowly wrapping furniture. One of them knocked a bin down the stairs, breaking the bin and spilling the contents everywhere. The other ran into the wall with our nightstand and left a large dent. They left our fabric couch on its side out in the driveway on the pavement. In the two and a half hours we had them here they filled less than half the uhaul with bins in the most unorganized manner I've ever seen. They didn't move ANY of our large items - bed, frame, dresser, accent chair, loveseat, etc. They attempted to load the sofa on its side on one of my nice quilts that they threw on the ground even though I had an extra moving blanket available upstairs which I told them about. We asked them to leave. It was that bad. Now I get to pay $500 for last minute movers to come in the morning to REPACK the uhaul and actually more our large items. And now we're late for our cross country move. Terrible experience. read more

Super professional and so hard working. I hired them to pack and move my stuff. They can charge less because they don't do any driving. So they helped load the U-Haul that we rented and helped unload when we got to the destination. 3 guys came to pack our 1200 sq ft duplex, they may have underestimated the amount of time it was going to take. They declined taking a break for lunch and worked through it till about 2pm? (late lunch!) They took great care of my stuff and packed it well. On the business side, I was in contact with one person who coordinated everything with the movers. When the movers were done, they called the office and then the office called me with the cost. It was seamless. If you can handle driving your own moving truck and are moving locally, call them! They were more convenient and affordable than hiring a truck and movers. read more

OK I'm back for the 2nd review for the 2nd crew. I staggered my Pod delivery not knowing the size needed. Dejion and Ramon were efficient, careful, and asked to make sure all was good. Even did a walk thru to make sure that they had gotten everything I needed in the Pod. If you need movers, these are the people. They know Pods, how to stack them properly and take care in disassembling furniture in order to make it fit. Their goal is a 5 rating and it shows. I wish I could give a higher rating than a "5", as the two movers (Austin & Joey) who loaded up my condo belongings today were respectfiul, professional and so very efficient. I fully expected to have them load and move all of my heavy/bulky items, and I would then spend the rest of the day moving boxes and smaller items myself. Imagine my surprise when I saw that every single item had been fitted into my truck, like a giant jig-saw puzzle. Clear and transparent price calculation! Professional work. Powerful 2 young athletes type of force and 1 super experienced boss came in and did perfect work. Nice and friendly but not too much. Just right for us. We asked reassembling. They built bank bed a bit oddly but all good A note is you have to borrow Uhaul or some other truck by your self and they will come with everything else. Oregon trail moving took a very stressful life event and made it remarkably easy. My wife and I moved from Portland to Los Angeles and Oregon trail came to our house to pack on a Thursday, and load us into a pod and a U-Haul Friday. The four Man team was professional helpful speedy and nothing was broken or damaged. But the most amazing and impressive thing is that they were able to move a 1200 pound safe out of our basement and into the U-Haul without any damage to the steps. They were within $20 of what the estimate was which is really amazing all things considered. I cannot recommend them enough, this is an A1 outfit. I never used Oregon Trail Moving, but if I were ever in a bind again--hands down they are the best service to use. I was in a car accident and needed to move on short notice. I am lucky my coworkers came to help like infantry, so that is why I never used Oregon Trail. Nick was extremely prompt in answering any questions I had, as well as talking to me via phone to work out logistics. Viewing the pictures posted on Yelp proved to me that they were willing to take care of whatever items I may have to ensure they moved safely. It is your responsibility to rent a van or find use of other people's cars. He had great recommendations on where to rent a van, how long I would probably need it for, calculated the cost from point A to point B. Great customer service, he genuinely was trying to help me figure out ways to keep the cost down for my needs. Based on other peoples previous reviews, they state how the company is extremely efficient, organized, personable and helpful. These people make actual miracles happen. We had scheduled movers two weeks before our move and 20 minutes before they were supposed to arrive, the dude texted (yeah, he texted) to cancel. (We were able to get them on the phone and talk to the company in person, but the guy who owns the business was pretty adamant about not taking responsibility for himself.) For the next two hours, we scrambled to find their replacements and assumed that our move would have to wait for an indeterminate amount of time. One of the moving companies we called referred us to Oregon Trail and we spoke with Nick. He said, "I can try to find some guys for you but don't stop looking." We didn't and about 30 minutes later, Nick called back to tell us that he had found two movers who would be on their way in around two hours. Larone and Jacob showed up, swiftly and efficiently loaded all of our stuff into the Uhaul, and then just as swiftly and gently unloaded it all again once we got to our new place. They were friendly, professional, super skilled, and made themselves available with no notice.
