We started coming here just a few weeks after they opened, wow was i surprised! The personal service, quality and portions are great!

First time I stop to try this place out I was very disappointed I love to take pictures of all the places I eat and share them on Facebook yelp and Google maps and no one ever seems to have a problem with this but today the owner of this fine establishment got very angry with me because I took a picture of the grade that all restaurants receive and asked me to stop talking pictures. When I told him the reason I like to take the pictures he told me that was fine as long as I didn't post the grade. I explained to him that with all my post I like to share this information and I like to be honest about what I post. He was not very happy he asked to not post the grade. Just then I walked to my table and looked over the menu and was waiting for the young lady to take our oder but she kept passing us up I finally stud up and asked her if her boss told her to skip us and she got very nervous and looked over at her boss and didn't respond I looked over at my wife and said he doesn't want to serve us and the young lady just said I'm soo sorry. I didn't go to this man's restaurant to ruin his business or give him a hard time I really didn't care much about the B grade he was given I was still willing to give his place a try this is even though the place had a very foul smell of some kind of sewer leak I really would have appreciated him just telling us that he refused service to us. read more

Waited a long time to try this place and I am disappointed we didn't try it sooner. I was delicious the atmosphere is relaxing and authentic. The staff if friendly as well. I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp which had wonderful flavor, but was a little heavy in the batter. My husband order pinapple Chicken which he swore was the best he had ever had. Appetizers were over the top delish. We will return to this resturant. I would recommend this place for sure. read more

Haven't been in a long time, got takeout and was pleased! Cold Chicken with onion sauce - unfortunately kind of weird, but that's my fault as I didn't know what I was ordering. It's a very large portion of bone-in sliced chicken with skin covered in an interesting almost mirepoix of onion, garlic and ginger. The sauce was unusual but very good, and the fact that it was cold was fine, but I absolutely hate chicken skin and I'm not a big fan of bones. My fault for not asking. Chicken chow fun - had it before, kind of forgot that when I ordered it (not that it was bad, but I like to try new things). I ordered too much food, so it's waiting to be leftovers. From before I remember it was good, and my only complaint was occasionally gristly chicken bits. Hunan shrimp - hold the phone, pump the breaks, holy crap. Amazing. Deep, rich savory umami flavor from I believe soy and also the fermented black beans (which I ADORE) - also very very heavy on the garlic. It's a dark sticky syrupy sauce that is absolutely divine and a fantastic marriage of sweet and savory. Heavy chili FLAVOR in the sauce, but not very much heat (even though the menu calls it spicy - it should be fine for all but the most Midwestern of tastebuds - like a splash of Tabasco on eggs, maybe not even that much heat). Absolutely loved it. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and works perfectly with the sauce. I could eat this stuff every day. Will definitely be back. read more

So happy we tried this restraunt. The service is great. The quality of food is by far fresh and excellent. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp, chow main and fried rice. It was excellent and so flavorful. Everytime I visit we are greeted with a smile. Will definitely recommend this establishment to my friends and family. Not food. Not fresh and probably most of the food is microwaved and then served. Lemon chicken was as hard as a rock. We could not cut it with a knife. Everything else which is carefully measured portions is average at best. If you think this is good you dont get out much. If you drive by on a friday at dinner time there might be 2 people there. Ummm where to start ... well I ordered the imperial dinner with hunan shrimp it was pretty good!! even the little side of wonton soup they give was Very good. BUT the large Egg soup I ordered was disgusting .... it was a huge scrambled egg and water with very little carrots.. they where missing the best parts of the soup.. there was no peas no corn No flavor AND NO GREEN ONION I was upset when I opened my soup lol but everything else was delicious would go back but won't buy egg flower soup from there again. read more

Service was excellent! This restaurant is right by Apple Valley high school. In the big lots parking lot. We came in and had the restaurant to ourselves which was nice. This is the best Chinese restaurant in the High Desert. The service is great and I haven't had one bad dish from them. The chow mein, orange chicken, Mongolian lamb, and Egg Fou Yung(sp?) are some of the highlights that I have had so far. There menu has such a variety of dishes that I anticipate trying. This is now my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the high desert! The staff is always super friendly and the food is awesome, they serve this free appetizer that is chips with cinnamon and sugar coated and is so good can't get enough of it. The fried rice is tasty and the chow mien is delicious I've tried many menu items and I haven't had one I didn't like yet. The establishment is remodeled and looks nice with inviting decor, the outside is clean and they have a drive thru but they don't use, if you want to take out you will have to order ahead of time and pick up to go. We've driven past this place many times, never thinking of stopping. This place has been so many different restaurants that I had no interest in giving it a chance. My husband took me on a date by surprise after reading good reviews and boy were we surprised! The service was excellent, the staff was helpful with recommendations on the menu, and the food came out reasonably fast. We had the wonton soup, the walnut chicken, and the meatball casserole as those were recommended by the staff. They were absolutely delicious! I had the opportunity to eat lunch in the area and based on the online reviews, I gave Mandarin Chef a try. Vivian was my server, she was very polite, nice and sweet. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with egg drop soup, cheese wontons and fried rice. The egg drop soup was simply delicious, not overpowering as in some restaurants. The sweet and sour chicken was delicious, very mild and tasty. The cheese wontons were very tasty as well. The fried rice was excellent and just right. The service Vivian provided was excellent and she kept my water glass full. All in all a 5 star lunch for $5.99. I would highly recommend Mandarin Chef for Chinese food. I haven't had Chinese food this good since I moved from L.A... I am tired of Panda and the other copy cats around the HD being the only representative of Chinese food. It's about time we had a proper old school Chinese food restaurant. It was nice to get a good bowl of wor wonton soup and tuck in and enjoy the treasures found in the soup. A bowl is big enough to feed an army or have plenty of left overs. I got some chow mein to go and it smelled great!!! It was a treat to have food that tasted like real food rather then bland blobs covered in whatever sugary sauce was poured all over it.... The lady who served us was so nice. She was the sort of server who stayed away but was there the moment you needed her. The lady who took the check when we paid was just as nice! Only small con was the Mongolian beef: dish was good but portion of beef was small and portion of onions were too much. Kinda hard to find (if your not familiar with Apple Valley) as there is no sign on Bear Valley that is visible. Signs are on the sides of the restaurant making it easy to miss. Try it out! read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the high desert. I have lived in the high desert for 18 years, both in the Antelope Valley and in the Victor Valley. This is my go to place when my family want to have authentic Chinese food. Mandarin Chef's ingredients are always fresh and the taste for every dish is just right. My kids love this restaurant, too. They like the noodles, fried rice, and a variety of vegetable dishes. The service here is excellent. Owner Shirley is always there to greet the customers. read more

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in the high desert. We have eaten here now a few times, every time it's as good as the time before. The potsticker appetizers are delicious and come with a sauce that is indescribable delicious. We try something different each time . Well worth the price compared to what you get from other places like panda or chopstiks. The people here are so friendly and make you feel at home like you're part of a family. Definitely my favorite Chinese food in town. The service has always been quick for me and the food is delicious. My girlfriend likes their chicken fried rice, and I'm a big fan of the egg fu young. In the restaurant, it's nice and crisp with a tasty sauce and plenty of well cooked vegetables. If you'd like appetizers, the cream cheese wontons and the egg rolls are good. The egg rolls stay very hot, but they're very good, especially with the sauce they give you. I'm a big fan of their tea, since I've never had it be so bitter it needs a bunch of sugar like some other restaurants I've been to. If you get a chance, you should stop by. read more

Located very near to my father's house. The restaurant was very clean, the hostess/waitress was a sweetheart, and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. We didn't have to wait. To the people complaining that the food is "overpriced": If you want cheap Chinese food, go to Panda Express. If you want a nice sit-down dinner, you are going to have to pay a little more, and that is just the way it is! My dad and I ordered THREE entrees (one shrimp dish, one beef dish, and one noodle dish) and two cups of soup (very tasty broth), and the total bill was under $40. First time dining there yesterday. We were greeted right away. We were a small party of three, so we fit in a booth just fine. We gave our drink order to the very nice and very busy waitress. Drinks were brought out quickly. We were also given a delicious complementary appetizer of sugar crisps. Our order of Fried Pot Stickers, Chicken Chow Main, Chicken Fried Rice, and Hot and Spicy Chicken was just amazing! I am so happy we decided to finally stop by and dine there.
