WOW, my husband and I absolutely love Chateau Chang!!! Every time we go there it is consistently wonderful. The ambiance is classy, the service is terrific, and the food is TOP NOTCH!! We adore the London Broil and the Salmon... best ever!! We always get one of each meal and share them because we just can't choose between them and feel that we must have them both. I have always loved Salmon and London Broil, but Chateau Chang's takes it to another level of delicious. They also cook broccoli to perfection (and I'm super picky about my broccoli), and they have a wonderful dinner salad with a house dressing that is unique and yummy. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but they are worth the price! Now that I've been talking and thinking about their food, I'm getting a hankering for it. So far we were seated a couple minutes after we came in. Drinks came about 5 minutes later the atmosphere is calm and live music is pretty nice. They took our order about 15 minutes after we sat down. The mood is all about food. It has a cluster of smells when we entered in. Like cooked veggies. I ordered the roasted duck Al a mode, chicken, sizzling soup, and garlic bread. A coconut shrimp appetizer was also ordered. Don't get me wrong it looks like we were blasted back in time maybe the end of the 70's mixed with the end of the 80's with the hint of the beginning of the 90's. Although there's a mingling of different years within their restaurant don't get me wrong, It's comfortable. The shrimp is coconutty and arrived 15 minutes after we ordered it and it was fired well.. it's been 45 minutes and we wait for the soup, the chicken in the sizzling rice soup is great. The rice is authentically cooked. And it's good. High praise for the chicken sizzling rice soup. The garlic bread was served with the soup, it was just enough to collect a little soupy soup and make it to my belly welly. The duck was fatter than I remember. The parts of duck with the crunchy skin was awesome, the parts of the duck that didn't have crunchy skins, had more fat and the skin was flaccid and hard to eat and softer than I am accustomed to eating. We ordered a cream brûlée and it was the optimal choice for dessert. Wish it was hot inside but, that's just a dream. This place is a hidden gem. If you haven't tried good service and high end food you should give Chateau Chang a try. I give it 5 stars because the staff was sweet and nice. And the food is between good and great! Worth a 5 stars review they earned. We spent 92 dollars. We were here about an hour and 45 minutes. So plan accordingly. Have a great one yelpers. read more

This is one of the few upscale restaurants in the High Desert area. The 1980s interior is definitely giving off Las Vegas Peppermill Restaurant vibes without the crazy neon. The burgundy velour cantilevered dining chairs were very comfortable. Meals are eaten in very flattering dim lighting. I had the filet mignon. It was cooked a perfect medium. It came with a baked potato and some steamed vegetables. There was an appetizer consisting of two shrimp and an egg roll. These were good as well. The dessert was a delicious creme brûlée. The caramelized sugar topping was crisp and slightly thick which is how I like it. The custard under it has a nice flavor, not too sweet, and a firm consistency. Overall, this was a good meal. Service was prompt and attentive. This is a good restaurant for a date night or as a splurge dinner night out. The menu is varied and has Chinese food items. The ambiance is relaxing. There is a lunch menu, too, which is worth exploring as it is slightly less pricey than dinner. read more

I first went there for a small wedding party and the food and ambiance was great!! A few months later we took our daughter there for her birthday! We had an absolutely great time! So we went again for our anniversary. It's classy, has great drinks and great service! Very romantic and classy. I was so happy we found this classy place here in the High Desert!! This place sucks there was cold food served to my table with my fiance I ordered lobster with a potato and the lobster came out almost raw. The potato wasn't cooked all the way and then the service was horrible. Very unattended no apologize. Mine was RARE, barely seared, lukewarm warm. Both arrived with steamed vegetables but no potato. After about 15 minutes our cool baked potatoes were served. Servers were not very attentive. This is one of my all time favorite places. You can do American high end food like fillet mignon, lamb rack or lobster/crab dishes. You can also choose asian food, mainly Chinese dishes. I love the escargot as it is drenched in velvety butter and lots of garlic. Slices of toasted french bread just right for dipping in the liquid gold. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Decided to try it based on four stars and the fact that they advertise as an Asian Fusion restaurant. And it is...sort of. It's actually a fusion of Chinese and American dishes which wasn't actually a bad thing. Four stars instead of five because the service was annoyingly slow, as in the time between courses took far longer than expected. It's a nice restaurant and exceptionally clean, and there was an odd bit of music sourced from a guy singing along to his own karaoke. This was at a decently low volume so it wasn't annoying; just unusual. My coworker and I stopped in here for dinner after work and it should be noted that we were the only ones in t-shirts. There was clearly a "date night" ambiance. The food, though "California pricy", was fantastic. We both had Chinese style meals and were very pleased; there was pleasant spicing instead of Americanized bland. I should note that their home made salad dressing was exceptional enough for us to talk about how exceptional it was; bit of an odd but pleasant thing. Went to celebrate a friends birthday, I'm not a huge fan of this place because the food is just ehhh but my friend loves it. The night we were there, the womens bathroom flooded and their staff made it obvious they were having issues. I thought it was very disgusting to watch them mop, carry the bucket of dirty water passed our table and in through the kitchen. Btw, it also took almost 2 hrs to get served. It's most likely the last time I eat at this establishment. The owner didn't even apologize for the inconvenience of them having to pass through our table with dirty buckets of water and having to walk across to another location to use the bathroom. read more

If you're ever out in the high desert - this is definitely a nice hidden gem for some fine dining. Their restaurant gives off a really nice nostalgic 80's feel. I learned that they've been in business for about 35 years. We tried their calamari, coconut shrimp, duck and crab legs and they were all phenomenal! we also got their delicious creme brulee, chocolate cake and they gave my son a cheesecake or his birthday. I really wanted to like this place, honestly. But I was trying to find something good to say about their food and along with it the price. Is the quality of the food commensurate to the elevated price? Uh, no. Was it bad? Well, it wasn't. It was good actually. But I guarantee you can find better food in the other Chinese restaurants I've dined in in Orange County or in San Bernardino for a third the price. The problem here is they're the only fine dining area here in the High Desert (if you don't count BJ Brewhouse but calling BJ fine dining is a bit of a stretch). My qualms though about calling Château Chang fine dining is they don't seem to have a dress code. You want fine dining then jeans and shirts or hoodies shouldn't be allowed. Not the case in this restaurant. Did they offer real silverware and cloth napkins? Yes they do. But so does BJ. The only consolation for this restaurant is it's relatively quiet and you feel relaxed because it's not very busy. It's bustling but not intolerably loud. In closing, you should try this place once. Order their food and get the experience. After that, you and your money can go further in other casual dining places in the city because despite what they call themselves, this isn't fine dining at all. read more

Upon entering, the restaurant was very nice and had an upscale 90's theme to it. We ordered alcoholic drinks and they were very delicious. To start, we ordered the French onion soup/Pot stickers and both were delicious. For the main course we ordered the Lamp chops/Mahi-Mahi and I have to say...both were absolutely DELICIOUS! I was thoroughly surprised with this restaurant. The service was very good and the vibes were nice. Fabulous find in Victorville! We stopped for the night en route to Southern California. It was listed as French Asian fusion. My husband, who is French, was skeptical. We were very impressed with the food. We enjoyed the crab cakes as a starter and the lamb chops, which we requested rate, were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. They also have some nice wines.
