I was crazing some soup but didn't really want my usual go to wonton soup from Thai lotus. So I decided to give this place a go since it's listed as the #1 for Chinese in the high desert. The man on the phone wasn't really pleasant. I wanted as listed on their online menu, a large Wonton soup. He argued with me and said we only have one size so I said okay fine whatever you have. I also asked what kind of meat they use in their rice and opted for chicken fried rice. When arriving to pick up my order the man still wasn't really pleasant. I asked for a menu for take out and asked what he would recommend but he just started naming things off the menu and said we have lots of good food over one hundred something items. I just asked for a suggestion bud. Don't be so angry, I just want to try your food. The rice was decent a little on the bland side but cooked good. The wonton soup was delicious. I mean really perfect. Next time I'll just get two cups, since they don't have a bowl. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because the guy kind of broke my expectations but the soup was delicious and just what I was looking for. The menu is HUGE. We took my mother-in-law here for her b-day. Our expectations was low. When we arrived, they only have 1 cook and a bunch of to-go orders. We waited for about 20mins before we were seated. The food was worth the wait. We ordered honey walnut shrimp and salt and pepper pork. We also asked for a special order of salt and pepper fried tofu, which they happily made for us. Service was friendly and prompt during our visit, food variety was larger, and the flavors were good. Portions are shareable but the only soup in a cup is the wonton. It also comes with rice, you have the option of fried rice no charge. The overall price was around $37 which wasn't too bad. Salt and pepper pork was seasoned so tastefully and had the right amount of spice. Sweet and sour shrimp was heavy on the batter. It would've been good without the excess batter. I called in a Togo order for salt and pepper pork, easy on the pepper, and shrimp fried rice. I arrived and paid 25.75 for the food. Saw the high reviews so thought we would stop in on our visit to Apple Valley. Clean enough environment and the staff were prompt. They brought out some wonton chips sprinkled with sugar. They were tasty though odd with the sugar. We ordered the egg rolls which were ok. The orange beef was the best thing we had there. We also had some deluxe fried rice, the house special pan fried noodle sizzling plate and the Sub-Gum wonton Grand style. Firstly, their lunch special is great for the price! It includes everything that's pictured plus a side of soup. I was full for several hours after, which hardly ever happens for me. Secondly, I love the presentation and really appreciate that this meal was put together in an effort to balance the not-so-healthy portions with healthy items. The side of pickled daikon radishes is to die for! The slices are crisp and have a sweet, unique taste. Usually get their honey walnut shrimp because it was really good. Went there a few months ago for the 1st time since the pandemic started. Ordered the honey walnut shrimp and beef chow mein. Asked to use the bathroom while we were waiting and the lady said no because it was too dirty. Thought that was strange since you can only get food to go. When we got home they gave me chop suey instead of chow mein which was terrible like it was left over from the day before. Really gummy. The honey walnut shrimp was a joke. The sauce tasted like mayonnaise without any sweetened condensed milk or honey and no coating on the shrimp. Guess they got lazy during the pandemic. One good thing that came out of that experience is that I learned how to make it myself from one of the Panda Express copycat recipes and turned out to be the best we ever had. read more
