One rainy, cold evening, I stumbled into this place and was immediately surprised by the number of people sipping on tea, waiting for their orders. So, my test dish for all Asian food places is Gen Tso Chicken. OMG, the portion was huge (two meals worth) and it was all very nice white meat, well cooked. First of all, the customer service here is wonderful. The restaurant is in downtown forest grove near where the farmers market is during the summer, making it the perfect spot to stop at for dinner after farmers market shopping. They have cheap dinner specials that come with so much food that you'll be taking home left overs. We've always heard good things about this place and we're glad that they're true! I was pleasantly surprised by the food, portion size, low cost, and amazing customer service we received on our visit to New Chinese Restaurant. They were so friendly and helpful with our order and made sure it was carefully packaged when I mentioned we had to eat in our car since our dog was with us. Wow...again, a phenomenal visit to the New Chinese Crusine. It had been two months since our first visit to the restaurant, and the person who took care of us remembered us, and even commented that our daughter wasn't with us. Incredible. How did she recall that? The food was perfect again. I had the Subgum Chicken Chow Mein again, and it was excellent again. The accompanying egg roll is huge, and the best I have ever had. Found this place thanks to some friends on next-door. Food was very good and authentic, portions were humongous, prices were very reasonable, service staff was amazing. Ambience was nothing to write home about . It is just a step up from a hole-in-the-wall, but these kind of places are my jam. We will be back! Probably some of the best Chinese food we've had. The food is all house made and family owned. The chow mien with the crunchy noodles was amazing. The family/staff were very friendly. The prices are amazing for the quality. They stay very busy and be prepared for a bit of a wait. They do a huge amount of orders to go and seating is limited. I've been to this restaurant twice already and I was welcomed in right away. The staff is very friendly I believe this place is family owned. On the first occasion I came to eat the woman gave me a calendar before I left. As for the food I can tell it was freshly made. On the second occasion I requested the shrimp noodle soup and the broth was delicious as well as the veggies and it was perfectly cooked. Their portion sizes are pretty big so I didn't finish my food although it was delicious. I'll definitely be returning for both the food and service. read more

One of the mediocre Chinese places I have ever tasted, most of the food that we ordered was not upto the mark. After the great reviews posted about this place, went in for dinner with friends and none of us liked it at all. We got Egg Drop soup, Spring Rolls, Curry style Curry Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and Vegetable Lo mein and asked for Spicy, only to realize we got some red color powder mixed in everything. It didn't have flavour and was tasteless. Vegetable Lo Mein was not eatable at all. I would avoid coming here in the future and would advice people to watch out on this one. read more

It was a Friday night and we were looking for a new "date night" spot of dinner. The complication is always my wife's "gluten free" dietary requirement. I got to work and quickly found New Chinese Cuisine. After a deeper look, I liked what I saw and offered it to my wife. She was interested. We drove out, found street side parking and were quickly seated. The setting is minimal, but the staff is friendly and attentive. We quickly ordered and waited. A pot of black tea arrived. Then the egg rolls. A few minutes later the food. WARNING: The food arrives in takeout boxes, along with plates and spoons. While unique, it has two practical purposes. First, it keeps the food warm and, second, it makes it easier to pack up and go (There is more food than you can eat in one serving). The food is good. My wife said it was the BEST GF fried rice she'd ever had. Our server even offer an additional side of GF soy sauce (which was not needed). We enjoyed the service and the food very much and will be returning. Give them a try. read more

Smart of them to serve their food in to-go containers even when dining in. They give you a ton of food. They know you'll be taking leftovers home. We had the House Family Dinner B. For $17.50 per person it came with all of this food: Eggrolls (didn't have time to take photos. Too hungry. lol); BBQ pork (sweet and tender); BBQ pork fried rice; Kung Pao chicken; beef with green beans; Four Happiness (combination of steak, chicken, shrimp , scallops, and vegetables. Tasted very much like Japanese hibachi); chicken lo mein (chicken was very tender and noodles weee bouncy); and sweet and sour chicken. Pot stickers were extra. Everything was delicious. The food was delicious! The ladies were very friendly and kind. We ordered general tso chicken. Big pieces of breast meat with a crispy light breading and perfect sauce. The Mongolian beef was perfect with a few pieces of veg but mostly meat. The fried rice was moist and delicious without adding soy sauce. Love this place! They are so accommodating for dietary needs but also just anything, they don't mind if you ask for swaps for certain ingredients just from preference. We get chinese food from here about once a month. The people that work there are always super friendly. We always order the beef and broccoli dinner combo, add an egg roll. Then we do an order of chicken fried rice for our toddler. The food is enough to feed us two full meals as a family with additional leftovers. We branched out the other day and got a noodle dish in a combo and I was pleasantly surprised! We will be coming back of course. read more

I'd say about 5 tables to sit at inside and a couple on the street. It appears to be a family run business and they are hopping. I had a combo on this visit which comes with a huge spring roll, (tasty, greasy and crumbly) The meal comes with sweet and sour chicken and rice and the dish you ordered. The wife had sesame chicken and loved it. I think next time, I'd skip the combo and just get my main dish. Portions are huge and easily 2 meals. All served in Styrofoam containers.
