They are located on the on ramp to route 9 so it is rather difficult to gain access. By he time it is visible, I have past it but it is well worth the stop. Since I was alone, I sat at the bar. There was plenty of sitting in the dinning room. I ad the egg foo young and fried rice. It was delicious. I tried to replicate the flavor at home Without any luck. Best to go here for lunch. A few years ago, the Wok was renamed the Great Wok. More than 45 years ago, my dad introduced the family to Carol and the Wok. He worked nearby in the Wellesley executive park. We went to dinner there every other week in the late 70s and 80s. It was some of the only genuine Chinese food in the Boston area outside of downtown. The authentic cuisine continues while the interior has been updated and is more modern and comforting, the essential elements of service and food remain. I took my 25-year-old son for dinner this past weekend. The hot and sour soup was spicy and fresh. The pan fried dumplings were exceptional. We had Hunan chicken for for the main course. I remember returning from camp when I was 12 years old where my request was dinner at the Wok, and Carol was always there to greet us and take care of us. I understand she is enjoying her retirement. I was so thrilled to hear that. I look forward to returning to the Wok. read more

Not really old school and not really authentic; kind of a middle ground but done well for what it is. Lunch specials (combos) available Monday thru Saturday. Japanese as well as Chinese, but I stick to the Chinese (and, unfortunately, it sticks to me). Hot & Sour Soup: Well above average; full bodied and perfectly spiced. Egg Roll: Excellent pork and cabbage rendition probably made on the premises. Crisp, moist to juicy, and very fresh. Among the best. Beef Teriyaki: Five sticks, all meaty, dark, and well lubed. You could almost tell the texture from the visual, but the texture was even better. Just a hint of pull, but mostly very tender. Flavor was both sweet and savory with a tingly spice element adding to the experience. Very aromatic. Elite beef teriyaki and among the top few I've ever had. Spareribs on the Bone: Very big, very red, very juicy. Interesting that with all that red coating, even on the cross sections, flavor didn't match the wonderful texture. I had no complaints with these ribs, but I was guessing elite and they were "only" very good. Pork Fried Rice: Not light of color, but felt light, more like a Mexican rice texturewise. Not dry but leaning toward it. The plentiful additions of pork, onion, egg, peas, and carrots helped out the cause. Orange Chicken: Somewhat crisp, somewhat sweet. Since the new owners took over nothing has been the same.... The food isn't as good, more expensive and they don't offer combo plates at dinner time!! I've been going there since 1998 but since the changeover to the new owners it has gone downhill and I'm walking distance away!! There's better out there! Great Wok Wellesley was a good dining experience. They have good service and delicious food. It is on the smaller side from the interior. We were there on busy night and the tables/booths filled up quick. GWW serves Asian fusion dishes but they are broken down by style. We stuck to Chinese and it was so good. Ordered 6 or more items from takeout menu online. Everything was still hot and cooked well. The only exception was the stir fried noodle that were stucked together and the vegetables and shrimps were in another container. Throughout the years, they have been consistent: superior food, reasonable prices, wide variety, fast take-out service. We ordered the moo shu pork which tasted great! The rice noodles with beef had no seasoning on it, however. In addition, we ordered online and the beef noodles were more expensive than the other types of rice noodles but the paper takeout menu shows that it is the same price. As a surprise, we got 2 crab rangoons with sweet and sour sauce which were really good! We would come here again, but try the lo mein noodles and see. This is difficult because I really like the host/owner, Amy and the entire staff. Their customer service is very good, they keep a very clean restaurant and they are always giving complimentary crab rangoons or something else with your meal whether eat-in or takeout. This weekend I took out 3 appetizers and 2 dishes. The pan fried ravioli were a 1 out of 5 with a very thick (too thick) dough. The boneless ribs which were asked to be not dry and overcooked were also a 1 out of 5 and, yes, overcooked, dry and tough. The complimentary crab rangoons had a nice crab flavor but I'm not a huge rangoon fan so 3 out of 5. The Beef Chow Fun was very tasty so 4 out of 5. Shrimp with Lobster Sauce average so 3 out 5. I did not get a Mai Tai this time but they make excellent and very strong Mai Tai's. Next time I will get my appetizers at Ray's New Garden in Needham. Sorry, Amy. read more

The staff was friendly, welcoming and patient with my butchering my tones while trying to converse in Mandarin! The restaurant was clean informal and relaxed. I tried some moo shu chicken and was impressed that it arrived without being watery. I also had pad thai. It too was well seasoned and flavorful. There was enough for two meals! I frequently go to Great Wok for takeout and their sashimi is incredibly fresh. I often get the sashimi combo with a side of sushi rice, their bento boxes, or the spicy maki combo. The portions are pretty good for lunch. I've dined there before too and the service is very attentive. I need to go there to dine more often so I can order their cocktails. read more
