The food is okay--a tad greasy. I don't expect much from most mall fare. The lo mein (I'm assuming) was greasy wIth a mild flavor. The green beans were really good; however, they were oily as well. The kung pao chicken had a good flavor. It wasn't as spicy as I was hoping. Also seems like there were more vegetables than chicken. I can't figure out why the server put the kung pao into the small portion of the container. Speaking of, their plates are small. If you're looking for a lot of food for $11-$12, don't look here lol. It was okay for me; I just wish she would have given me more Kung Pao than noodles. The cream cheese rangoons are delicious. I actually give those an 8/10. The customer service was a bit sketchy. Located in the food court in Lakeside shopping mall is Mandarin Express. We came to the mall around lunch hour on a Sunday and WOW It was super crowded. All the restaurants for the food court were packed and decided to check this place out since we were tired of burgers and fries. The line was fairly long but moved quick with a ton of people ordering. We went ahead and ordered two 3 entrée 1 side plates ( side is white rice, fried rice, or fried noodles). We ordered the bourbon chicken, Mongolian chicken, and coconut curry chicken with fried rice. For the other we went ahead and got the kung pao chicken, green beans and, orange chicken with fried noodles. If your looking for a massive scoop of meats then this isn't the place they are very generous in giving you the perfect portion for each item. The food was fairly good, but not over whelming. My favorite was the bourbon chicken and Mongolian chicken they both had great taste and were perfectly seasoned. The rice was okay but nothing special. If you ask for hot sauce expect vinegary hot sauce not Asian siracha type. Overall pretty good spot for a quick bite while doing some shopping in the mall. read more

Stopped by during the holiday seasons after doing some shopping in the mall. Every restaurant was crowded and this one was actually somehow very visually appealing given that it was just Chinese takeout. It essentially looked like Panda Express food, but somehow better...??? It's like when you see fast food in a TV commercial and it looks super good, and then when you order the real thing, it looks like poopoo. Well this place's food, especially the chicken dishes, aesthetically looked like the real deal. 3-entrée meal w/ fried rice, steamed veggies, orange chicken, bourbon chicken - Everyone in front of me was getting the bourbon chicken like no other so I just went ahead and added that onto my meal. Everything was... fine, good even. It's what you'd expect in getting some mall food and Chinese takeout, and even a little better than average at that I would say. The orange chicken was ACTUALLY a little crunchy, which blows my mind because it's usually soggy after resting in it's oily sauce for a while before being served, so that is a plus. And I wasn't too crazy about the bourbon chicken, it was a bit tough to chew through and I guess I had high expectations because everyone else was getting it. But it wasn't bad. Regarding the other reviews saying that they felt like they didn't receive enough of each entrée, I did not find that they gave exceedingly small portions for the entrées. But I'm sure that varies depending on who is serving you that particular day. I do have to say however, that the staff seemed to be a bit irritable and pushy. They were really trying to get things moving way too fast. The customer behind me repeatedly requested not wanting a tray, but she was completely ignored because they were trying to shuffle us through like an assembly line, and they forcefully shoved a tray into her hands. I guess that's not too unwarranted during a busy hour at the mall, but it was a little stressful shifting through the line. This Panda knockoff that is somehow better than the original is a fine place to get some quick mall eats. Well I used to eat at this place every week when I was a teenager, and then one day I realized that the food doesn't taste that great....a little too sweet, plus a fair amount of fried/oil content, etc. Panda for Chinese mall food with brown rice options and better selection. Mandarin Express has always been popular locally (and surprisingly busy), so it can't be all bad. Also kids seem to eat up the fried rice and noodles pretty quickly, not a bad thing. read more

My family and I eat mongolian chicken and bourbon chicken 3 times a week from this place in the mall or door dash delivery. It's AWESOME!

There entrées are very small. The lady was very rude barely gave me 1 scope Of rice... charged me 11$ and some change and I'm still hungry... i'm never eaten here again.... I love Chinese food when I eat it every time I go out to the mall.... read more

We was at the mall and I was hungry it was like 8:45 and I'm ordering and the ladies behind the counter looked annoyed cuz I was ordering! the lady behind the counter says hurry up we're about to close but she was very rude. Then they start talking in their language all mad. I'm just like well isn't not even nine yet??? I got my food and left. It wasn't even that good to begin with the noodle had no flavor and if you gonna be rude with an attitude at least let the food be good!! Mandarin express lakeside mall food court opens 11 a.m. for every vendor except mandarin express. I arrive at 11 am to eat and they refuse to open until 11:45 and put entrees out as slow as possible and some of us who crave chinese wait like a fool while the employees look at us and keep saying 11:30. Take your unseasoned rice and lomein until 11:45 and hope the fools show up, Will never return to eat there. read more

Be prepared to argue with cashier when it comes time to pay, if paying cash, count your change in before leaving the line. Beware! When you pay the cashier, keep an eye on your money or it will disappear and they ask you to pay again. It had happen to me and they will gang up on you to cover up their trick. I asked for a cctv footage but they told me they dont have any, all the stores there have cctv except them. The portions were way to small. The workers gave small stingy scoops. I went to eat here on Friday, November 28th, 2015, around 3pm, and the old Asian woman collecting my money was rude. She grabbed the tray where my food was on away from me. The food tasted great, however they need to remove those burnt charcoal off the meat, because those burnt charcoal can cause cancer. While I was eating in the food court area, and sitting at the table across the pizza italian fast food, a crazy African-American woman who was the janitor rudely slammed her hand on too of my styrofoam to-go box, and threw it in the garbage can, since she probably thought I was completely done from eating all the food from that styrofoam box.
