I had **one of the most horrible, downright disgusting dining experiences** at Jumbo Buffet this past Sunday while visiting the Kenner area. My sister suggested we stop in for lunch, and I truly wish we hadn't. I have been to countless buffets over the years, and I know what to expect from an Asian buffet--but this place didn't even try. The food looked unappetizing, tasted worse, and felt like zero effort went into preparing anything fresh or flavorful. Even the kids, who normally love buffets, would not touch most of what was on their plates. To make matters worse, the bill came out to **$96 for 3 children and 1 adult**, which is absolutely outrageous considering how little any of us ate. Are here Sunday 12/14/25 at 1:30pm. Very small crowd. They are using disposable foam plates for some reason. More concerning is the hibachi grill was shut down. The whole island that used to have the hibachi meats and vegetables on it had all deserts. The former desert island was dark and holding extra foam plates. Food quality was sub-par today. No explanation was given when I asked what was up. The health department score from 12/1/25 was 67 out of 100. Not sure if crowd was small because hibachi not in service, low health score, ICE harassment of employee, etc. Very disappointing. Caveat emptor. read more

I frequented JB every weekend with mother because of the food was tops util they raised the price where it cost $70 for 2 people to eat and I saw their hygienic practice. The servers (we'll call them that even though it's a buffet) wore these blue hand gloves all the time. After watching them for an hour for the whole time I was there eating crabs and shrimp, they would broom, clear tables, serve drinks and utensils, take out trash, wipe down tables without ever changing their gloves. Great... they got clean hands while the gloves they are wearing are touching the stuff we eat with is filthy as the bottom of a trash can. Take off the gloves and use water and soap like the law demands. I should have called the health department, but i never did. I haven't been back in a year or so.... they aren't touching anything I put in mouth again. Sorry so late with this review/warning. read more

The lower rating is due to the fact that their sushi and overall selection of food was minimal/subpar compared to that of other comparable buffets I've been to. I did enjoy the things I ate such as the crawfish, mussels, blue crabs, and other seafood items. I enjoyed their hibachi as well. They give you a selection from sweet, teriyaki, and spicy sauce for your hibachi. Additionally, the price was pretty solid as it was only $20.99 a person for dinner on the weekend. The service is decent, and the restaurant can get a little crowded. Overall, if you don't care for sushi or want a huge variety, this could be worth a visit because of the price. read more

The look, feel, and overall atmosphere kind of matches the building's exterior: old, aged, and depressing. The food is plentiful as the name "Jumbo" suggests but it did not have an appealing appearance and the food was average tasting. The staff are nice and friendly and courteous. read more

Nope. They're trying. But nope. It's just not good. Yes there's seafood: crawfish, shrimp, whole crabs. But it's overcooked. They have buffet sushi - so I was ready for that level of quality. But that didn't work either. Fish was slippery. And I was unpleasantly surprised to find ham in one of the rolls. Staff spoke Mandarin- which I thought was a good sign- but the buffet, compared to every other buffet I've experienced across the country, was bad. Dirty bathrooms too. Recently visited Jumbo Buffet for my daughter's birthday. We had about 10 people, we were not able to sit together. They split our party between two tables close together. We visited for the first time yesterday. I saw a video on IG and thought we would give it a try. We were not impressed. We are not fans of buffets, but we thought we would try since it offered boiled seafood near home and the review we saw. We went about 7:30 pm on a Monday. They did not have the boiled crabs I wanted; the crawfish did not satisfy my tastebuds. The regular boiled shrimp didn't taste like a seafood boil, but the spicy boiled shrimp were good. Everything else was hit or miss. Nothing appeared freshly prepared, sat too long, old, cold, or not tasteful. It was a one-and-done for us, and we would not recommend it. We should have requested a refund. We were unsatisfied, but we paid the bill, left a good tip for the servers (it wasn't their fault), and left. The only good thing was the ice cream. Considering everything, we should have known better but were hopeful. Try at your own risk. Everyone's experience differs because some seem to enjoy it, but it's a no for us. This buffet was REALLY GOOD! I enjoyed my lunch there, today. Huge selection of items from Asian, Latino, and American cuisines! And, everything was freshly prepared, well flavored, and cooked well! I was shocked by how good it was! I began with a plate of Sushi (nigiri and rolls, lots of really fresh and good choices)! I then enjoyed boiled and fried seafood (mostly shellfish). Then, a plate of Asian dishes. Then more sushi! I enjoyed it! Fabulous value, but the cashier didn't give me a senior discount. My family and I used to eat here once a week. The food quality has been steadily declining. Tonight was the last time we will eat here. Only 4 out of 5 of the drinks were brought to the table. I had to ask for the 5th drink. When it was brought to the table it was clearly pulled off another table. The ice was melted, condensation all over the cup and there was a straw already in it. That is disgusting. I had to specifically ask for a fresh tea. Throughout the meal we had to ask for refills. I don't expect top notch service at a buffet but this was ridiculous. I barely ate anything because the food was awful. Everything had been sitting for a very long time or was empty. Anything fried was inedible because it was hard. The Mac and cheese was separated and runny. Some of the food on the steam tables was cold. Everyone else opted for hibachi because at least they knew it was cooked recently. Leaving food out for that long and at improper temperatures is a major health code violation because it can make people seriously ill. I'm very disappointed that we won't be able to eat here anymore for fear of getting food poisoning or getting drinks off of another person's table. read more

I immediately saw a kid eating the jello by hand at the bar. The food was meh. I've had good buffet experiences and this was meh. Chicken on a stick is good when not over cooked. Lo mein was subpar. Cheese Rangoon was alright but it I believe was what had given me food poisoning. Unless it was the hot sour soup that tasted like cleaner. Potstickers I couldn't even finish. I have no idea but I wasn't impressed and had no expectations. Also for the price it was way too much for quality you're getting. I assume you're paying for all the options I guess. Jumbo is the best Chinese buffet in the area! My coworker and I dine here at least once a month. Every time we come here, they are packed and continue to put out fresh food even close to closing time. Service has always been excellent as well. The restaurant is so big, so even when they are packed we have never had to wait for a table. Some of the stand out dishes on this gigantic buffet for me are: -The crawfish!! Very well seasoned. -Sushi - wide variety of rolls and sashimi. Of course, it's not "the best" sushi around being that its a buffet, but it's the best I've had that was All-U-Eat. -Hibachi!!! Also, a wide variety with PLENTY of meats and veggies to choose from. I always add a little sriracha to mine because I like it spicy. -their fried rice and lo mein. This is one of the better Chinese buffets I've been to. The food has been fresh and tasty every single time I've gone. There's a lot of food for the price you pay. The sushi is good for a buffet, it's not the best, but it's pretty good for not being a Japanese restaurant. The wait staff have always been pleasant. Of course it's a buffet so their job is pretty much taking care of your drink and clearing dishes. Never had a problem with either. The only downside is the crowd that is usually eating there is not always the best, but there isn't much the restaurant can do about that. I'll definitely be back. read more

My family and I went to Jumbo Buffet today, and I was disappointed with the server, although very nice she had a pair of gloves the entire time. I noticed her handle cash payments with the same gloves, she cleaned the table behind where my family was seated and she kept the same gloves on. It wasn't until I asked her if she was going to change her gloves and she then stated that she change them after she's finished but she never did so. She kept the gloves on the entire time, and when I told her something about it she sanitized them instead of taking them off and replacing them. That was cross contamination at its worst. read more

We love this place. In the over crowded field of Chinese buffets, this place stands above the rest. I have been to Chinese buffets in over 7 states. Locally, I'm glad to have a good spot to go to. They offer a wide array of food choices and it's always fresh. Hard to believe that you can put out over 50 items and not miss a beat. You are greeted promptly and brought to a table. Let me start off by saying I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are a couple of items that are half decent, but for the most part it's not great. There are a ton of choices here but most of them not worth eating. When we first arrived the lady took our drink order there were 5 in our party. Everyone got the drink they ordered except me. So my only complaint was that they serve lunch & dinner foods together. So if you grab a dinner item, they charge you extra. Someone in our group grabbed ONE crab leg (not knowing it was on the dinner menu) & the lady came to our table telling us it was on the dinner menu. So our friend said "Oh sorry. What do you want me to do with it?" She said that it was okay & he can have just that one. Then she comes back and takes it off his plate with her hand. Gross! Not sure if we'll be back.. If you want some melted butter for your seafood then you can ask your waitress and they will bring it out for you! Parking lot is huge so you won't have an issue finding a spot.
