Went to eat at the Mandarin King yesterday. We have eaten there at least a dozen times with all being good. Something bad happened yesterday. The service was rude and very bad. The food was cold and terrible. I received the wrong soup I ordered and the waiter didn't seem to give a crap about it. I thought this place was decent and good, but no more. We've been going to MK for as long as I can remember. My mom has used this restaurant for numerous bday parties and events. The food is authentic and always tastes great. I've had almost all the dishes and I can't think of any that I haven't liked. But the service is awesome! I've always been greeted with open arms and a smile! Really one of the best chinese family-style restaurants around. And the portions? Huge. They make a number of dishes far better than much fancier restaurants. Most notably, the Tangerine Chicken (it's not on the actual menu but everyone seems to know about it). For the more adventurous and obscure flavors you can try the Bean Curd Szechuan (minced pork and tofu - spicey!). Their pupu platter is always good appetizer assortment. Just about everything else on the menu is always done well. This has always been a very popular place for families, largely because it has been run by the same family since it opened, and you can feel the comfortable vibe. My family has been going for over 20 years. The interior is admittedly bit odd, largely because in a previous incarnation it was once a medieval themed smorgasboard buffet called Sir George's (hence the knight on the sign outside) which was simply repainted to be the place it is today. Its very comfortable, casual and the service is always friendly. The owners are always working, along with just about their whole family, and they are happy to see regulars. There's lot of room. The booths are big, and can seat up to 7 or 8. The seats are cush'. They have a separate, more private room for parties. Overall, it's a great place for large family celebrations. read more

I've been coming here for many years and in my opinion it is one of the best chinese & szechuan food. Prices are reasonable, especially the lunch menus, average price $6.95 comes with fried rice, eggroll and your choice of entree. I typically order the shrimp and chicken dishes and the mongolian 3 meat noodles is really tasty ,I skip the beef though, I don't eat meat. I've seen the reviews about some of the dishes and fried rice being bland. I prefer not to have my fried rice dripping in oil and salty which most chinese restaurants are. I just add soy sauce or hot sauce for my taste. Anyhow, Jerry one of the owners is really nice and will stop and talk to you and joke. The other brother is more on the serious side. Their waiter and waitress can use a little more on the smile side, looks like they're overworked. They can use an adjustment on their attitude. Jose, who cleans up the table is super nice and smiling The interior is dimly lit and on the old 80's style. We've had bday party, 25 people, they have a room to accommodate private parties which was nice. We ordered Chinese food for delivery. Delivery was prompt and the order was correct. We ordered Baby Bok Choi with Black Mushrooms, Hot and Sour Soup, Kung Pao Chicken, and steamed rice. The rice was fine. Unfortunately everything else was nearly flavorless. The best dish was the soup, with a nice body and the usual complement of ingredients. The soup lacked most of the Hot and Sour flavors. The Baby Bok Choi and Black Mushrooms tasted like all of the flavor had been boiled out/ and the sauce added nothing. The Kung Pao Chicken was the biggest disappointment. KPC is supposed to be a spicy dish. Somehow all of the spice had been removed, even from the peppers in the dish. What was left was not very good. I am sorry to report this and I hope that they can improve the situation since my club has a party booked there in December. read more

The food was simply amazing. A group of friends and I decided to stop in after a day at the park and it was a very good way to end the day. The portions were more than filling and the service was amazing. We got white rice, mushroom chicken, orange chicken, egg and potato cakes, and some beef. hahaha you could say that i really like this place alot!! my family and i just started eating there about two months ago. i go to this SAT prep place rite next to it and out of nowhere my family just wanted to try it out. and you know what? when they tried it out, they loved it BIG TIME!!!!! we especially love the appetizer that comes with the food every time: fried wonton crackers with a little side of plum sauce i think. and we also love this soup. Food was horrible. I ordered the Kung pao and the tangerine chicken. As well as chowmein and fried rice. The Kung pao just had a bad flavor and not even a little spicy. Tangerine chicken was very dry and again, bad flavor. Practically no sauce. The noodles were beyond greasy and not tasty either. Fried rice lacked flavor and there was nothing to it. It took them over an hr to deliver. I live 10 minutes away. When the delivery guy got here, he was loud and complained about how far I live. To top it off, he complained about the tip I gave him and continued to say I live far and that he uses his own car and gas to deliver and that he didn't even make enough money on this delivery for gas. He went ahead and said he was going to talk to his boss. All this while speaking loud. The total for my food was $22 and this was me order I their lunch special. Definitely not worth it. Will never be ordering from here again. I'd go as far to say that Panda Express tastes a lot better. HORRIBLE read more
