I really like this place. Food is very tasty with big portions. My fav are the almond chicken and the beef with black pepper sauce. Never been to China but I'd imagine that being quite close to the food they serve there. Prices are very good for the size and quality. Atmosphere is casual but enjoyable. I also like that it's a family business (one of the servers, Jeff, is the son of the owner) and they treat you like a life-long customer. ROACH ROACH ROACH!!! Went there for dinner last night. Have been going here for years and yes the service is horrible, but food is reasonable and GOOD and we have coupons from Entertainment coupon book so makes the family meal worth it. Last night I went there with my fiance and as we were being seated i happened to glance down and noticed something on the seat, turns out it wasn't a chili pepper or orange kitchen that someone left behind, it was a ROACH on it's back kicking and screaming!!!! I didn't make a scene but told my fiance we were leaving and NOT eating there. We went to the front where the host said "Thank you, goodbye" when we had just been seated!!! He didn't ask why we were leaving...so i mentioned there was a BIG ROACH where he seated us and he stood up and said "WHAT??" an rushed over there, never looking back. We left and went to our normal spot which is AMAZING - Super WOK in Reseda (VENTURA/LINDLEY) they have amazing food and good prices as well....AND NO roaches on seats or elsewhere that we can tell. This place was recommended, so my boyfriend and I decided to come here for Sunday dinner. As I'm sitting here, I decided to sign up for a yelp account so I can review this place. We ordered our food, and they brought out our noodles first. The noodles were salty and oily, I couldn't eat them. When she brought out the noodles, she said the chicken was also coming out. Twenty minutes passed before they brought out our tangerine chicken, and it was not good. By this time our noodles were cold. The waitress said there was a big party and that is why the chef didn't make our chicken fast enough. Meanwhile, we're seeing her walk by with other peoples orders that came in after us. Owner told me my 2 year old did not need a high chair which resulted in him trying to crawl around under the tables, first no-no, telling the parent what to do. The food was not seasoned properly. The hot and sour soup has some unnamed meat in it. The rice was stuck together to the point where you could stick you fork in it and have chunks. The food here is good and there is an extensive menu, but the service tonight was terrible. On a Wednesday without a crowd, you might expect more than cursory attention. The waitress did not bring the check until at least 30 minutes after we finished dinner. No one cleared the table. We had to get up and look for boxes to take food home in. Love this restaurant! Their seafood soup is a favorite of mine and my boyfriend's. Very kind and attentive staff, a welcoming environment, and delicious pork dumplings. Back in 1999, i first discovered this hidden gem of a chinese restaurant, since I don't frequent much in the valley for chinese food except for sam woo and back when China star was still around. But, when i worked in the restaurant business around 2001, I decided to eat here for the first time. The food is definitely good. The prices for lunch is reasonable, and the dinner is quite pricey, but worth it. When you enter here, you will definitely notice the high ceilings. It looks like you are in a house, but with a wide dining area to eat. I am glad that there is still restaurants here in the west san fernando valley. check out their fish with orange peel sauce.. make sure u ask for a lot of sauce and steamed rice. I also enjoy the beef with broccoli and mongolian beef. This restaurant makes the BEST mongolian beef. YUM! Definitely this restaurant is a keeper! read more

this is my fams favorite restaurant! whenever were in the mood for chinese food we always end up here. Great portions for a great price. They have pretty good service. They should probably do something about the interior and exterior though. You barely notice its there cause the exterior doesnt stand out and the interior needs to be updated cause it looks the same since it probably opened. I have been here twice, the service is great they are very sweet, the food is not pricey and you can share a plate with the gourmet dinner. However, THERE WAS A COCKROACH ON MY MENU when I went yesterday. The waiter did notice!! He quietly ignored the situation as if that is okay to do. I wanted to leave but had invited my granny for dinner and I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable because she had already ordered. It is not okay to dismiss a roach at a place where you expect to enjoy some food. The establishment is old and so are the very used plates. I will be reporting this incident to the county. If you are okay with house roaches maybe being around the area eat there if you are repulsed at the thought of this unfortunately avoid this until further notice. After three tries, we've decided to search elsewhere. Everytime I've ordered from here, they can't wait to get off the phone and always try to hang up before I'm done with my order. The food is sub-par. Panda Express is much higher quality, though less variety. I'm always very disappointed in the ingredients they use, and the potstickers are disgusting rubbery hunks of dog food. They also have frequently tried to talk me into more expensive versions of items instead of what I'm ordering and there are several items on their menu that they have priced at half price, but require a minimum of 2 orders, in order to make it look cheap. The final straw was last week, they forgot to give the driver the credit card receipt for me to sign, and he was all flustered. In the confusion, I forgot to give him a tip (since I couldn't write it on the slip like I was planning on.) I dug up a couple bucks in cash to give him and opened the door to catch him and found him in my driveway on the phone screaming that "the idiots didn't even give a tip!" I was shocked. I was invited to dine here with some friends and their family, so glad I went. I don't know the names of any of the dishes that I was served, but they were all good. From asparagus with a soy based wasabi sauce to a large fish cooked, I think, in ginger?? There was some amazing pickled vegetables and cabbage and some kind of spicy meat with green chilies. I give this place 3.5 stars bc I feel I should have tried something else. I had tangerine chicken fried rice and the ribs. I usually go to A & W down the street but tonight I wanted to try something different. The service was good for the situation b/c the waitress was the only one with a few bus boys running the entire joint. I saw other food going to the tables and it looked better than mine. In conclusion Chinese food in LA is it a hit or miss. In NY where I come from the Chinese food is stellar. I have yet to find that taste. As New Yorkers say "itz in da wata !!
