Mande's is a restaurant perfect for a calm Sunday morning. It has a nice homie feel, not too crowded, and just simple but good breakfast food and the coffee is great. I got the french toast which was not too special but went perfect with sips of coffee. My dad got crawfish sausage and eggs Benedict which was amazing and every bite was eaten. Great place for brunch. It's not too crowded, has decent parking, and the staff is extremely friendly. They also have outdoor seating if you're wanting to enjoy nice weather. Downsides - the food isn't always on point, though it's usually pretty great. I have never been disappointed by one of their specials! Also, it is right by the Causeway, and sitting outside isn't super enjoyable with all the traffic noise. Other than those downsides, the place is really cute, homey, and nice. Awesome little breakfast/brunch place! Nothing fancy - but what they do, they do quite well! The benedicts are possibly the best in town - the thin slices of tomato added to the standard eggs/English muffin/Canadian bacon really make the dish stand out. It's a simple but quite effective touch. Another excellent dish consisted of a bowl of grits topped with crumbled up bacon, cheese, and fried eggs - nothing but a bowl of pure awesomeness. The place is rather small, but the interior makes good use of natural light. It's actually a very pleasant space in which to start a weekend day. Service is friendly and efficient. It's just a good atmosphere all around. Like I said it's a small space - it does get quite crowded on the weekend. You will probably have a bit of wait. It's totally worth it! Had Saturday morning brunch here 12/5/2015 and while the service our waitress provided was very good and the atmosphere was friendly, we were not impressed with the food quality. The French Toast was acceptable, but the Creole Omelette did not appeal to us at all. I will say that the waitress offered to bring something else, but we declined with the "found something we don't like" mentality and didn't feel the restaurant should make accommodations based on our taste preferences. However, after arriving at our respective homes, we both were not feeling well and when I talked to my friend today (Sunday) I discovered that we both experienced stomach cramping and diarrhea for about 6 hours after eating at Mandy's. I decided to contact the restaurant manager just now to discuss out experience with her instead of posting a negative review. I did call and spoke to the manager and she was beyond rude! I tried to explain what happened stating that we didn't care for the taste and waitress offered to bring something different, we declined but that I didn't call to complain about that at all and I tried to explain that my concern was that we both got sick after eating there and perhaps she should look into things. The manager IMMEDIATELY became defensive and started talking over me telling me that the food there is very good and everyone loves their creole omelette and asked how we could have possibly gotten sick from it if we didn't eat it?? She was just rude and had nasty tone! I did eventually raise my voice while I was trying to explain so I could talk over her loud rant, but finally gave up and hung up. I'm think a call to the health department may be in order, but I'm not sure that I am willing to waste any more of my time on an establishment with such poor management. I eat out a lot and usually try to find local, independently owned establishments. Normally the food is very good and the service outstanding. Granted, I don't always care for everything I order, but I have never gotten sick after eating somewhere. Like I told the manager at the beginning of our conversation, anytime I have a concern or negative experience I ALWAYS speak to someone at the business rather than just posting negative reviews. In the effort of being fair and treating others like I would want to be treated, if something is wrong most managers/owners want to know so they can address it immediately. Cute little somewhat hidden breakfast place in Mandeville. They keep the coffee flowing (great after a late night company Christmas party on the northshore) and the food is really quite good. Small seating area, as others have noted, but we didn't have to wait at all for a seat. Others who were eating seemed to be regulars - sitting around reading newspapers, catching up on the week's events, etc. If I find myself on that side of the lake for breakfast again, I'm making a point to return and get another omelet and coffee. read more

We stopped in on the way home from New Orleans to eat breakfast. This was a great spot right off the bridge super friendly staff and great food. We had omelets and the crawfish etouffee was the biggest hit. I would suggest getting your biscuits grilled, I did not see this until I had already ordered toast and I had to still a biscuit form a friend lol Also, the gravy and the grits were excellent. Been going for years - 2-3 times a month. Today was the last time I go. There has been a slow decline in service and a sense of bitterness that has permeated this place that used to be fun. The lady who owns:manages the place was off to the side on her phone when we walked in - no acknowledgement. The waitress told us to sit a a square table bc the round ones are for more people than just 2. Fair enough. We sit down and she literally threw the menus at us and walked alhalf way back to the bar, turned around and yelled "oh did y'all want something to drink?" We had to yell back about 15 feet away.... she then proceeded to ignore us. Had to call her back to take our order. Easy enough: breakfast sandwich land blue berry waffle. The food comes out after food from other tables that got there after us. My blue berry waffle was a plain waffle with frozen blue berries on top of it. So I moved them off to a plate to the side. She can and asked I mentioned I thought they were cooked inside the waffle. Her exact response was " yeah I was surprised to see that little girl put them on top of it - I will talk to the kitchen". She never came back until she came with the check. There was a dollar added for blueberries so out of principle I mentioned To take the dollar off. She went to the cashier who was finally off her phone and they glared at us for two minutes. She came back and proceeded to lecture me "blue berries are only cooked inside pancakes. Never inside waffles". Bottom line: I don't need that energy in my life on a Sunday morning. No need to go anywhere else for breakfast on the Northshore cause Mandes is the absolute best!!! Not only is the food delicious and fresh but the service was so friendly and fast!! Someone went around with a coffee pot every few minutes so my cup was never empty or cold, the mimosa had fresh squeezed orange juice and my Benedict had two PERFECTLY poached eggs. It has a old rustic grandma feel to it which makes it very comfortable and homey. This is my absolute favorite breakfast place, I can't wait to come back next week! read more

I visited this establishment for the 1st time in over 20 years. It was very good, as I recall from the past. Friendly service; however, is not their forte. I have experienced a few north shore restaurants where the staff have "attitudes." Not quite sure why, but they do. The biscuits were great, and good biscuits are hard to find. I have been trying to love this place for years. The food is ok, simple breakfast fare. The location is near the lake and the architecture presents a warm and inviting feel, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. Upon entering, a diner is met with immediate Fox News propaganda on not one but three TV's. Why anyone would want a window into hatred and bigotry while eating is beyond me. It is difficult to enjoy a meal while catching talking heads rationalize throwing tear gas at children. Personally, tv in a restaurant just seems unnecessary but if you must at least put something neutral on. The music choices also add to a dismal atmosphere. The walls are adorned with tributes to local music icons such as The Radiators and Professor Longhair; but instead of playing relevant music, they play the intolerable droning of vague off-brand worship music, ghastly. The service is the best part of this restaurant. The wait staff are very nice and are always pleasant. I think there is great hope to keep this restaurant relevant, making it a more pleasant dining experience. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking to try something different for brunch on the northshore this morning. We were starving! We stumbled upon Mande's via Yelp. It was pretty busy, but we were seated pretty quickly (although at a corner table that faces the wall lol). The inside is cute and the ambience is perfect for brunch. The menu has quite a few items that caught my eye, but I decided on the Cajun Benedict. My boyfriend ordered the biscuit with sausage gravy and a waffle. Then we waited... And we waited... Did I mention we were starving? We may or may not have started to eat the jelly packets that were on the table with our forks... However, when the food finally came it was delicious! The Cajun Benedict is a crawfish sausage patty (think crab cake) on top of a toasted English muffin topped with a poached egg with hollandaise sauce. It was exceptionally yummy. It came with either home fries or grits - I got the home fries and they were great as well. My boyfriend's biscuit and gravy was very good, and he also enjoyed his waffle. We completely cleared our plates! We will be back, but will make sure that we aren't so starving since there is quite a wait for food. read more

We stopped for a late breakfast as we've looked for a good brunch location since Liz's Where ya at is closed temporarily. Absolutely no comparison. Although service was good, neither of us felt the simple meals were up to par. The pancakes were thick and cake-like. My 2 eggs ordered as over medium were way overdone. The Grits were so thick, I had to work at getting them off the spoon. That, along with cold dry toast (no butter and none provided) made for a very dry meal. Granted it was noon, but claims to serve breakfast until closing, therefore should have much better food particularly for these simple items. We won't be back. read more
