I've dined here several times before, but after a recent experience, I won't be returning. For my son's First Holy Communion and my daughter's Birthday, we hosted a 10 person family dinner at this restaurant. During the evening, a decorative plate that had been placed unsecured on the wall next to our table was accidentally bumped and broke on the floor. We immediately cleaned it up and notified the staff. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner approached our group and began berating us. She mentioned multiple times that the plate cost $450. To further guilt us, she brought up her deceased child in a manner that I found extremely distasteful and reprehensible. Several members of our party offered to replace the item, as well as pay for it, but nothing seemed to satisfy her. We were left so stunned and belittled that we chose to leave the establishment before being served our entrees. My husband paid the full bill, although we never received our food, and provided the waiter with a cash tip. The owners came back out at this point, but offered no apologies, nor did they remove the entrees from our check. However, other patrons approached us afterward to apologize for what we experienced. Accidents happen--but if fragile items are placed unsecured in busy areas, that responsibility should not fall entirely on guests. The way this was handled was unprofessional and unacceptable. I really can't complain. Service? Check! Food quality? Fresh seafood, really! Sauces are to die for, wine prices reasonable and decent selection. Oh, and there are actually grill marks on the grilled seafood items. Not griddle 'grilled' but flame grilled. For fried afficionados, always crisp, because they use clean, hot oils. You can tell by the Blackened Redfish Lafourche, that Roz has a Chef's background. Also, consider the From the Grill Trout or Redfish and customize/add toppings. We usually dine at the bar for Ole Miss games. Sara and Nicholas are attentive and usually quite busy. read more

Rips unfortunately doesn't care about people with gluten intolerance. Their idea of gluten free is salad or jambalaya. I even called and asked if I could bring my own pasta, and would they cook it and serve it. They said absolutely not. Gorgeous restaurant with a view of the beachfront. The servers were attentive, though very busy. The shrimp and grits stood out as the best part of my dining experience. A great local restaurant with a beautiful view from the front porch. Many restaurants in the area are closed on Sunday, but not Rips making it a great place to wrap up the weekend. We went with both suggestions from our server for our entrees and both we as good as he described them. The buster crab appetizer was also a great start to the meal. The key lime pie was excellent!! Outstanding service, view and food! I am from San Diego California and visiting my extended family who said this way the place to go! So we drove from New Orleans to here for lunch! We originally had a server who seemed a bit preoccupied with other tables and his regulars, so I asked the amazing MOD (manager on duty from Brazil) if he wouldn't mind pairing us with a more attentive server and WOW!!! Della took over our table and she was literally the best, most attentive and kind server I have ever had! Talk about southern hospitality! She embodies it all! Not only was her service impeccable- the food was amazing!!! Everything we got was so delicious and fresh! It came in a very timely manner and everything couldn't have been more perfect! This was my first full day of my trip in Louisiana and I am so happy we came here because the MOD and Della truly made my first day here memorable! Thank you so much for having us today! We've been here several times to eat dinner, but our favorite way to experience the restaurant is to order several appetizers and drinks and just share. We usually make a reservation for the patio, and there's plenty of room, service is always great and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Stoped here for dinner during a vacation. We didn't have reservations but I would recommend doing that. Lucky we got a table on a Friday night but they got very busy. We had a great dinner at Rips and tried new dishes. The catfish topped with fleur de lis shrimp (tastes like Bang Bang Shrimp) was cooked perfectly and a huge portion. The grouper was a much smaller portion but very nice. The trout was a huge fillet and topped with 3large shrimp. The sides were okay but not my favorite. Huge portion though. Had lunch on the patio of Rips on a Saturday and it was a vibe. Started with some cocktails cause it's five o'clock somewhere. Had the Lady St. Germaine and it was delicious and I tasted the Moscow Mule which was fantastic too. Here's my food reviews below: Crab & Brie Soup: 1000/10 my favorite. Crab Cakes: 9/10 Seafood Pasta: 10/10 Trout Audrey: 11/10 Boston Bibb Bleu Cheese Wedge: 9/10 The service was great and I loved the energy of the room when we sang happy birthday to a lady at another table.
