This was our first time going here. It was a Thursday night and surprisingly busy. Being handicapped and in a wheelchair I found it a little difficult to get around however, the staff did their best to accommodate us. They were very attentive and on top of everything. The drink order was taken promptly and surprisingly a very quick turnaround considering how busy they were. I had an old fashioned and my wife had a lemon basil martini. You would think that I would learn by now that what ever the locals use as a syrup for the old fashioned I don't care for. As much as I like them I continue to try them at various restaurants and eventually I will find a watering hole that I like. Now as for the martini it was magnificent. I'm not a vodka person but this is definitely worth a try. It was light and refreshing with the perfect balance of basil and lemon. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was done just right, and if you like calamari then you know what I mean. For dinner my wife and I shared the Blackened Redfish LaFourche. It was delicious. We had a table near the front of the restaurant overlooking lake ponchatrain. We were able to see the sunset and then the distant lights over the horizon. Very nice. When it comes to parking it's ALWAYS difficult when you are visiting any of the businesses on the lake front and don't get me started on the lack of handicap spots let alone their poor condition. My brother-in-law and his wife brought us here, I'm so glad we did the views are great and the glass covered dinning room was southern perfection. my seafood pasta crab and shrimp dish was insanely delicious it took me three days to finish. Sat on the patio on. Saturday for lunch. Very crowded. We were placed next to a table so close I thought we could have just sat with them!! Other than that the food was very good. We decided to do a little date night here and loved it. Our server was Billy and he was a hoot. We had some great conversations and laughs. He was super attentive and gave us a great experience. We got the crab cakes appetizer. It came with two crab cakes that were top notch. They had plenty of crab in them and tasted perfectly. I had the grilled speckled trout and LOVED it. The beurre blanc sauce really made the dish and it was a good sized trout filet. The new potatoes were seasoned very well and were super tasty. My boyfriend got the crawfish etouffee and was also very pleased, and the bread that came with the meal was fantastic. We sat on the enclosed front porch, overlooking the lake. I really can't complain. Service? Check! Food quality? Fresh seafood, really! Sauces are to die for, wine prices reasonable and decent selection. Oh, and there are actually grill marks on the grilled seafood items. Not griddle 'grilled' but flame grilled. For fried afficionados, always crisp, because they use clean, hot oils. You can tell by the Blackened Redfish Lafourche, that Roz has a Chef's background. Also, consider the From the Grill Trout or Redfish and customize/add toppings. I've dined here several times before, but after a recent experience, I won't be returning. For my son's First Holy Communion and my daughter's Birthday, we hosted a 10 person family dinner at this restaurant. During the evening, a decorative plate that had been placed unsecured on the wall next to our table was accidentally bumped and broke on the floor. We immediately cleaned it up and notified the staff. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner approached our group and began berating us. She mentioned multiple times that the plate cost $450. To further guilt us, she brought up her deceased child in a manner that I found extremely distasteful and reprehensible. Several members of our party offered to replace the item, as well as pay for it, but nothing seemed to satisfy her. We were left so stunned and belittled that we chose to leave the establishment before being served our entrees. My husband paid the full bill, although we never received our food, and provided the waiter with a cash tip. The owners came back out at this point, but offered no apologies, nor did they remove the entrees from our check. However, other patrons approached us afterward to apologize for what we experienced. Accidents happen--but if fragile items are placed unsecured in busy areas, that responsibility should not fall entirely on guests. The way this was handled was unprofessional and unacceptable. The food was decent. My husband loved his dish. The trout I had was overcooked, dry, tough. We enjoyed it overall, cooks need to remember fish takes only a few minutes to cook, especially the thinner filets. It was a nice experience and will go back at some point, try something different. A great local restaurant with a beautiful view from the front porch. Many restaurants in the area are closed on Sunday, but not Rips making it a great place to wrap up the weekend. We went with both suggestions from our server for our entrees and both we as good as he described them. The buster crab appetizer was also a great start to the meal. The key lime pie was excellent!! Rips unfortunately doesn't care about people with gluten intolerance. Their idea of gluten free is salad or jambalaya. I even called and asked if I could bring my own pasta, and would they cook it and serve it. They said absolutely not. I guess they don't need the business from gluten intolerant people and thier families. I used to give them a lot of business. So sad read more

We've been here several times to eat dinner, but our favorite way to experience the restaurant is to order several appetizers and drinks and just share. We usually make a reservation for the patio, and there's plenty of room, service is always great and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. We originally had a server who seemed a bit preoccupied with other tables and his regulars, so I asked the amazing MOD (manager on duty from Brazil) if he wouldn't mind pairing us with a more attentive server and WOW!!! Great Date Night place! We had a wonderful Valentine's Dinner. Adrian was our waiter and he is the best, as well as Billy. This location is the best experience on the lakefront to see the sunset. Parking is always ample at the lakefront. The food is always so wonderfully delicious. We never have had a bad meal here. The steaks are always perfectly cooked, and the service is always fantastic.
