The food was ok. I don't care for the setup. Stand in line forever, wait for a table like vultures and feeling like you need to vacate immediately upon finishing because people in line are staring. The playground for the kids is very cool and was the only saving grace! read more

Going out to an Italian restaurant is difficult for this Italian girl. Mandola's is a fun spot to eat for a quick meal and has a great selection in their trattoria that i remember grandma making :) Antipasto platter, good. Gnocchi not so much. Sauce, yum. I hope to be able to change this review later, the fact is I never got the chance to eat here. Sure this is a new place...but... I'm sorry, after standing in a long line for twenty minutes, and then realizing that we were so far back and the line was so slow...that an hour in line was about to happen was too much to ask. Waiting for an hour at least in line, and then not knowing how long we would have to wait for our food, after the hour in line, was enough to ditch. Perhaps will try again once the "new restaurant" craze dies down. Really hope that they can fix these issues with proper customer flow. read more

We went there around 4 PM on Sunday. This was a family gathering with six adults and four kids. The playground takes a lot of pressure off the parents. The facility is nice, clean and well laid out. Food choices are plentiful, the order takers were helpful and patient. I think that they could be a little better knowledge wise about the menu. We were not appraised of the "Happy hour" for beer and wine. We did not have to wait for a table at that time, but wen we left, there was a line at the order counter. I felt that the food was good, the pasta portions could have been a little larger (Not much) I left off a star because I think that the menu prices are a little high. Our check (Wife and I) was $50. for two pasta dishes, two small salads and two glasses of wine. We don't pay that much at Reale's or Gino's for full service. The place was packed when we left so we will see how the general public approves of this new location. read more

It's alright, but it's not worth the money. It's priced like a restaurant but the service is like a cafe. I'm sure there are some things that are really good here, because people talk about this place like it's really great. We just ordered some normal plates- lasagna and spaghetti/meatballs. They didn't taste like $12-14 plates. read more

This one is every bit as good as the one on Guadalupe and is a lot closer to where I live. I've tried the pizza as takeout and the lasagna as dine-in. Both were excellent. I'll be back many times in the future. read more

My family went here for the first time on a Tuesday night to celebrate our daughter on Honors Night. The atmosphere at this location is wonderful with very comfortable outdoor seating. The music is standards from the American playbook, and the acoustics are excellent. The atmosphere is good for a small group of friends or a larger gathering. We enjoyed the antipasto which is generous and rich with variety. The prosciutto was delicious although maybe could use a bit more seasoning. There were four different varieties of marinated olive, three meats, three cheeses (the mozzarella was delicious), and three vegetable salads (they were awesome!). My daughters shared a margarita pizza and allowed me to have a taste. I'd go back just for that! My wife and I had the house Cabernet which was very good. Finally, we indulged in gellatto - very, very good although not quite as smooth as I'd hoped (but only in comparison to what we had in Italy). All I can say is hooray for the suburbs - this one is a real winner. I'll post again when we return for the other entrees! read more

First, best sangria I have ever had. Absolutely amazing! We came on Saturday at 1 PM, there were many people, but we could still find open tables. We ordered Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Parmasan, and a side salad. Bread was brought first.. So tastey how does one not fill up on that?! Our salads came next - Cesar came with chicken parm and my side salad. These were very good! My chicken Alfredo was next. It was good. The chicken was dry and a bit over cooked, but still good. My husband and I ate it while we waited for his chicken parm. We fisinshed everything and still his meal never showed up. When I asked about it, the manger apologized and comped our meal and brought the chicken parm out to go. This was amazing service and really shows how the managers want the restaurant to be focused on customer service. Back at home, the part was amazing. We will be back! Thank you. read more

We used to drive all the way to Bee Caves, and love to have a Mandolas so close by. It's great casual eating which is what we prefer. No waiters constantly coming back and the ability to take care of things on your own. The playground is great and food is as well. Get the free bread and lemonade and enjoy. The only downside is the same issue we have with Central Market, the over zealous kids who are not being noticed by their wine loving parents. It's got a great open faux grass area that's great to be able and sit and watch your kids and monitor the other crazy kids as well. read more

I've gone to Mandola's in Lamar for years. It was always our "go to" place for special occasions. When this new one put its sign up, I couldn't wait for it to open. I wasn't disappointed!! The dishes we always order are still delicious and taste the same. The bakery and gelato are available, as well as a bar!! They even have an outdoor playground. read more

Mixed feelings about this restaurant. I'm NOT really a fan of the whole pay before you eat find a table situation they have going here. It seems to create more problems than it solves, at least from the perspective of a patron. Now, as to the food....my chicken was a little dry and under seasoned, but my veggies were delicious. And I did appreciate having a Keto/low carb friendly option on the menu at an Italian restaurant (I truly recognize that is no small feat). My wife's pasta was WAAAAY over-cooked, like by 5 mins at least. Given that this is a place known for its pasta, this is unforgivable in my opinion. It was quite flavorful though. The area where Mandola's stands apart is the dessert. The cannoli was nothing short of magnificent and the gelato selection and execution was flawless. We also had an eclair which was also divine. Seriously, this place is worth the mediocrity just for the desserts.FYI, take out is the way to go. read more

This is a shining example of what a good quality modern restaurant should be. Reasonable prices, food predominately made from scratch and follows the traditions of Italy with little deviation. They have really done their homework and got it right. I do not eat out often when I am at home because I travel a lot, and am very passionate about food. I cook almost everything from scratch and Itallian is one of my specialties. That being said I am usually disappointed in the majority of Italian restaurants and I will go out of my way to eat here. read more

It was too oily, which I did not care for. I have had this dish before and it was great though. The only thing I would change about Mandolas is having to order at the counter. This was the second time I ate here, I had the gnocchi the first time. It was good but they done give you much. Today I had the lasagna, what a disappointment. For $13.50 you'd think you get a bigger piece but that wasn't the worst part, it tasted like spagettio's.
