Just experienced racism, prejudice, whatever you want to call it. My family and I wanted to eat at this restaurant. We were very excited. (I've eaten here before, by the way). It's Turkish. I pulled into valet parking and before I even stepped out of the car, the valet guy said "let me see if we accept babies." The owner comes out and said we don't accept babies at the restaurant anymore but since you are here early I will make an exception. As we walk inside one of the waitresses made a face and said why did you let them in? After 5 min sitting at the table, I was uncomfortable. You can tell the staff was annoyed that I had a baby. In search of a new spot with good food and hookah. Stopped by on the Sunday of MDW and found that it wasn't too crowded. I took a Lyft, but if you do drive you'll need to utilize valet. I wanted to sit outside but was placed at the bar (probably due to being a party of 1). The bar was nice and I felt welcomed. There was one tv playing the eastern conference game. I ordered the shish kebab and the meat was well marinated and seasoned. Came with rice and veggies. The hookah was just right. I'm spoiled from a lounge OTP but was pleasantly surprised and glad to find somewhere ITP that mixed the flavors just right. 4 drinks, meal, and hookah came to under $180ish (gratuity I believe was included). A bit pricey for sure, but I'll be back. It's a nice option closer to home with good music. Everyone who worked there was very nice and personable. Even made a few friends at the bar. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely date night here. The atmosphere is super cute and cozy. It feels very Greek and relaxed. We began with the Zucchini Pancakes that we're yummy. They were a little greasy for my taste but once patted off we're much better. We then shared the whole sea Bass with rice instead of field greens. It was amazing! The fish was extremely fresh and flavorful. It was very easy to get the delicious meat off the the bones. Every bite was better than the previous. To end we shared the rice pudding. Didn't have the mint sauce I'd expect with lamb, but was still good with Tazikis sauce including the rice. Wow. This was a great experience and meal. Truly the best Turkish food in Atlanta. We went for a late lunch, my family of four. The menu looked so good we wanted to try everything. And we surely tried. 5 appetizers, 4 sides, for entrees. It was all great. Mixed Grill, Beyti, Lamb, Seabass. The ezme was perfection. So was the htipiti. Mandolin Kitchen was a total surprise for us. You have to read this knowing that we did this order via Postmates so I can't speak for what everything is like in the restaurant, but the food we had was SO great that we want to dine-in one day. Here's what we ate: Chicken Avgolemano Soup - It's like chicken noodle soup, but the noodles aren't your typical ones. The Turkish noodles just melt in your mouth and the soup felt creamy. Totally a comfort item that I can see myself wanting in the winter or if I'm sick. Falafel - This was ok and it breaks my heart a bit because I really enjoy falafel. This was just too dry even with the sauce they provide. I wouldn't get this again. Lahmacun - Surprise of the night! This was my husband's pick and jesus, this thing was huge. Imagine 3 medium thin pizzas folded into a to-go box container. This can feed more than 2 people and it's so good when you fold it with red onions inside and eat it with cilantro. Adana Kebab - Beef and lamb kebab was very juicy. The portion was really generous too. We like to share things, but honestly, between 2 entrees, you could probably feed 3 people. We definitely would order Mandolin Kitchen again, but more importantly, we really want to check out the restaurant because most of it was good. They even included a large bag of complimentary bread to go with our meal. read more

A good surprise!! We went here to celebrate my husbands birthday. I remember reading a few good reviews and had a decent expectation of this place. Drinks menu- not bad for a Turkish restaurant- we ordered beer though. We were given complementary bread with flavoured oil and butter- good house made breads. I was looking forward to this place but left disappointed out of this place. I really enjoy trying new restaurants and am willing to pay more if I get good experience. My biggest concerns with this place is that it's overpriced for the ambiance and service. Now the ambiance is better if you're sitting inside/near the bar area, but it's too tiny. If you're sitting outside the ambiance is below average for a fine dinning restaurant and you have to pay $7 to buy the cheapest beer on the selection plus $4 for a pita bread, their appetizers, falafel and roasted eggplant, don't come with any pita breads. Besides that for my vegetarian friends they have only one option outside the appetizers, which is find as not too many Mediterranean restaurants offer anything for vegetarians. I would rather go to Rumi's nearby if I am in mood for such food next time. read more

We got to try Mandolin Kitchen on a Friday night and were not disappointed! We love the Mediterranean style of eating: grilled meats, fragrant rice, dips and hearty flat breads. Each region has their own interpretation of these dishes but I love the way the Turkish do it best! We started off our meal with the complimentary bread, feta, olives and SUN DRIED TOMATO DIP! This dip is *everything* A wonderful combination of olive oil, sundried tomatoes, rosemary and magic. Our table of 4 adults and two children ordered several appetizers: Dip Trio: Hummus (pretty good), Labne (super yummy), Ezme (not my favorite). We also got an order of baanganoush which was not bad. Kasseri Kofte: This order of lamb meatballs with French fries came highly recommended but were not a hit at our table. The tangy ketchup that they served it with, on the other hand, was really good! Soujouk Pastrima: This pastry dish, filled with beef pepperoni and cheese was AMAZING! The portion was generous, as well. These also make great leftovers and I don't eat leftovers very often! For our entrees we shared a variety of grilled meats (Adana, Doner, Iskander, Chicken and Shish). All the entrees were moist and flavorful! The Iskander is really delicious and one of my favorites. My husband loves the cubed chicken kebab. What we all agreed on, however, was the rice with pine nuts. I would choose bread over rice any day of the week, except the day that I am going to Mandolin Kitchen! I have never had rice this flavorful at any Mediterranean restaurant Ever! It's amazing that this is standard without any up-charge! As far as ambience, it is definitely packed tight and they seem to be going for that rustic, authentic feel. However, the white tablecloths and candle lit tables give it an intimate, elegant vibe. They placed us in a corner table in the covered patio and we were quite comfortable despite coming with our young kids! The simple style of cooking (rice, meat, yogurts) really appealed to our little ones and they ate well! In short, there are some stand outs at this restaurant that make it a star! Come on Yelpers, totally let me down here! Started with irritating forced Valet, when there were no cars in the parking lot at 11:30 AM Saturday. Next, we ordered hummus to start which was accompanied by nothing to put it on, no veggies no Pita bread. The expectation is evidently that you put it on the large pieces of bread in the bread basket, so much for hummus as a healthy option. When we asked if we could get some Pita bread to go with the hummus, you would have thought we were speaking a different language. So strange to expect pita bread with hummus in a Mediterranean restaurant? They only have a dinner menu on the weekend, which essentially means $20+ entrees and no lite options such as wraps or pitas. The one positive mark is that they did allow me to order a wrap from the lunch menu. I ordered a lamb wrap from the lunch menu with no tomatoes and it continued downhill from there. First they brought it with tomatoes and when I let them know, they simply took it to the back and remove the tomatoes. They did not prepare a fresh one, so it was luke-warm when it returned. Finally, I noticed it was beef instead of lamb, and I don't eat beef. When I told them, they essentially did nothing, we paid full price and I left without eating lunch. There are a number of really good Mediterranean restaurants in this area, I would encourage you to try one of them. read more

So been to Mandolin twice in a week so far - why? - well it's that good. I've tried the Shish Kabob, Chicken Kabob and Choban Salad - all are amazing. Apart from the food everything else was bad. When presented with the bill they would not split it between the 3 couples. Eventually I paid with my card and seeing that they had added 20% tip without even asking ( menu said nothing about 20% for parties of 6 or more!) I told the manager/owner to take it off. We gave a cash tip to our server. Then the smoke from the hookahs reached the inside of the restaurant where we were sitting. The whole outdoor patio was filled with people puffing away. To make it worse, open to the room we were sitting in there was closed in patio where hookahs were being smoked as well. This was essentially part of the "inside". Would not recommend this place. I went with my family for my Birthday last night. When we arrived at 6:00pm there was only two other people in the restaurant. The hostess asked if we had a reservation. I said No and she said she thought she could find a table for us. The restaurant was empty. A nice waitress came to the table and introduced herself. She served us water and gave us our menus. She said she was new but thought she had it all down. She could not pronounce items on the menu. That wasn't a huge deal but then we watched her leave the restaurant after the appetizers came out. She didn't say someone else was taking our table or anything. She just left. Strange! The bread was the only good thing that we had. We each ordered the Chicken soup. It was a bowl of grease with a little bit of chicken in it. Really disgusting! We ordered a trio of dips. They had no flavor at all. So disappointed!!! read more

The food was good BUT the service was terrible. They messed up the food order three times, they continued to turn the music up and we couldn't hear each other speak. The waiter paid very little/no attention to our table except for when it was time to collect our checks after we paid. They brought bottled water and never once mentioned there was a charge for it. So when the bill came we had 3 $10 bottles of water on our checks. The water is $1.99 on Amazon. Just not a good experience all in all. read more

My buddy and I had a taste for Mediterranean food, so I whipped out my phone and checked my Yelp app. We drove by Mandolin Kitchen seconds before it popped up as an option, but the colorful exterior and seven 5-star reviews made us turn around. The server was friendly, and suggested the iskender when I asked her for recommendations. My friend ordered the chicken kebabs. We added hummus as an appetizer. The hummus was creamy and not dry like some hummus I've had. I really liked it. The complementary bread basket was also a nice touch. When the iskender arrived, I knew I wouldn't be finishing it. It was huge. It was also quite tasty. The chicken kebab was ok, but I liked my order better. After our meal, my friend got a Turkish coffee, but I ordered the kunefe. I started not to get dessert, but the description of the kunefe piqued my interest. I like trying new things. When the kunefe came out, it looked special. I tasted it, and it was a winner. Where has it been all my life?! Lol. I convinced my friend, who didn't want dessert, to try it. He asked for a second bite after he tasted it! The staff was also quite friendly. My friend and I interacted with at least 5 people, and all of them interacted with us, including the manager (owner?). Hospitality is big for me, so I appreciated that. Not recommended at all. I made a reservation in advance. I get there and they don't have a regard to seat us. I had to ask around for them to seat us. We get to the table and then I have to look for a waiter myself to take our order. They literally brought out burned food and the food taste was horrible. It was a very bad experience to go to this restaurant. Also it is important to know that this place is not cheap so you would hope that you will be served well. For $150 which I paid for two people I could have easily gotten the best food at any other Atlanta restaurants. I would highly recommend going to cafe agora in buckhead if you want some real good Turkish food. Also try Rumis right next door. It is a much better option. Stay away from here please. read more

One of the best Turkish food I tried in years. We tried some appetizers: ezme and eggplant was especially delicious. For the main course we shared two servings of lahmacun (Turkish pizza) which I regret now: I should have eaten one whole portion, it was so delicious. My oh my what a great place. The food was stellar and the most authentic Turkish food I ever had outside of Turkey. Compliments to the chef. And the staff is amazing. Even though this was only our second time here they remembered not only that we were here before but down to what we had and the conversations we had on our last visit which was weeks ago. And super friendly. We had the mixed plate, the lentil soup , the ezme and the lahmacun and not only they all tasted amazing they were very generous servings. Had enough left overs for the next day for a full meal for two. We so wanted to have dessert but just did not have any room left. WOW, just WOW. The disappointment is unreal. We came before they were under new management and the hookah bar was opened. It was used to be family friendly, lowkey music, with amazing food. We saw the new menu and we knew we would be disappointed. Never the less, that's what happened. They removed a bunch of items from their menu which was upsetting. The bread is not the same anymore. I asked for butter and apparently they don't serve plain butter anymore. But the lamb shank which used to be one of the best things on the menu was heartbreaking. The meat was really tough now, the rice was too oily, and the vegetables so undercooked. The music was really loud and hits today, rather than calm melodies. We had heard great stuff about this restaurant. The food was ok but I will never go to this restaurant again. I had called and made a reservation and let them know we have two toddlers with us. They didn't mention anything about it not being a child friendly place. When we got to the restaurant, my 2 year old was fidgety. We were trying to calm him down but he was screaming. One of the waiters came to us and told us that the guests are complaining and to basically make my child shut up. I asked him how do you do that? Please let me know and I'll try your method. We went to the manager to complain and rather than being apologetic about the situation he was defensive. According to him he thought it was clear the restaurant was not for kids and he had to listen to all of his customers. I mean what the hell does that mean? If this wasn't a child friendly place why did they have high chairs and not say anything when I called to make reservations. I really enjoyed my meal today at this new Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant. I heard many good things so I had to try it. I love the decor and the location of Mandolin as well. Many appetizers to choose from and the Turkish Flan and Kenefe were really good. My Adana Kabob came out juicy and full of flavour with a spicy kick to it. The Turkish food scene in Atlanta is limited, so this is an amazing new addition! The food is delicious. I definitely recommend the kabob platters here and friends dining with us also raved about the lamb shank. Adana kabob is really juicy and has a lot of flavor and served with yummy bulgar pilaf.
