Attempted to dine at Mandrake but it wasn't written in the stars. My party was one of 4 parties in the entire restaurant yet we weren't even greeted by the waiter or anyone. There were 2 girls upfront, at least 2 bus boys, and 6 waiters. We waited 12+ mins at our table before getting up and leaving. Service is deplorable. read more

From the moment you walk in you feel like you're in another country it feels very global and has a unique vibe. Awesome and attentive service and cool people who work there. Miami Beach needed a place like this! The food has a. Very Nobu appeal to it dare I say it rivals them? Awesome sushi, awesome steak, awesome rolls. Don't remember what the pasta was called but ask, it is an absolute must! Hefty drinks and never left without one. All in all we will be back for sure! They have an upstairs lounge coming soon wish we could have seen that I will put this is one of my top restaurants in Miami Beach. Took half an hour to get drinks, the hookah we ordered never came and twice we had to ask for a server to come to take our food. The food we got wasn't that great and took quite a while to come out. Overall the service was terrible, the music was so loud you couldn't hear a person next to you, and the price was way too high for the level of professionalism not on display. read more

Came here on a Saturday night reservations at 9:30pm. Got here on time for the grace period at 9:45pm. I waited around 15 minutes. I was expecting to be seated inside but they said the main room was reserved and gave me the option of sitting in the front room or in the patio I told her I was okay with sitting in the front room and then she said I would need to wait more even though it was empty ay that point we were hungry so we sat at the patio there was a big fan so we were not that hot and luckily it stops raining. we we're greeted by our server susie. She was attentive and nice. I should've read the reviews before coming because they said they had this problem with waiting for a table. We ordered a lychee martini which wasn't strong at all and was in the worlds smallest cup!! The main entree menu consists of 5 things. We got the wagyu steak I ordered it medium well and as you can see in the picture it was medium RARE. The steak was tasteless. Moving on.... We got the wagyu rice was okay.. the rice tasted a little old. The steak was a good temperature. My boyfriend chicken was okay too pretty tasteless the little sauce they put made it more delightful. The ambiance is nice here, the decor is beautiful and is what really makes this place. They should really think of adding more appealing appetizers and more choices for the entrees. Overall out of 5 I'd rate this place a 2. Out of 10 a 5. Won't come here again. Wasn't worth the price! They charged $20 for WATER. I hate places that do this. Waygu empanadas came out so hot that when I bit into them, hot oil spilled on to my menu and my lap. I have oil burns on my inner thighs now. Server took over 10 mins to bring ice, eventually brought a rubber glove so I didn't have to get totally soaked. Tried to enjoy from there but service was pushy. Kept trying to get us to order more - asked my man 3x in 5 min if he wanted another cocktail. Server couldn't provide any information on the menu items other than "it's soooooo good." I would order something and they would say, "Okay, and do you want XXX too?" Um, no. If I wanted that I would order it. Who needs high-pressure sales when you can't tell me anything about the items on the menu? So disappointing for a foodie. They also kept trying to take plates before we had finished, and interrupting sweet moments. My boyfriend was kissing my hand and obviously saying something - server interrupted this TWICE. There was a hole in the upholstery of the booth, and the booth itself is uneven. Sort of like a broken spring in a mattress. It was beautiful but disappointing. You would think that they would have some semblance of professionalism if they make you wait 2 hours to be seated with a reservation . But sadly it's not true .. they walked us to our table after waiting 2 hours just to be put right next to the bar . Which is 2 rooms away for the dining area. The hostess repeatedly told us she is getting the table ready for us and then ran off ... this continued for an hour and a half ... everyone is stuffed by the bar awaiting tables everyone is frustrated . Came here after searching for some fun trendy delicious new food spots and this place is all of the above. Great classic dirty martinis & specialty cocktails. Their lobster fried rice was delicious as was the beef tenderloin entree. The Mandrake roll was fresh & the lobster tempura roll was great. Hmm Mandrake. Definitely an interesting concept. I visited Mandrake twice in the same month. My favorite part is definitely the atmosphere. You are paying for the decor, the location and the service more than for the food. Both times I visited Mandrake I can't say I was disappointed the food was just OK, nothing extraordinary. We had the arroz chaufa, empanadas, pork belly and mandrake sushi roll. I also tried the noodles and ceviche. The atmosphere though is sooo FUN! Which is why I would come back. It is perfect for a birthday celebration. You can dance at your table and they have the Chinese Dragon Dance which goes around the whole restaurant. So if you are thinking about coming to Mandrake I would say it is definitely worth the experience. You will have a great time. Be prepared to pay 30$ + per plate and drinks are around 18$. We had a party of 6 and our total bill was 750$ granted we all had drinks but just to give you an idea we had 6 shots of fire ball and it was 120$ just for the shots. read more

The girl and I hit Mandrake last week for the 40th birthday of one. Well, you know South Beach Stay At Home Mums...whew. Happy to be out and on fire. The restaurant was live by the time we got there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. As locals are aware, Whole Foods can be a scene let alone a trendy dinner spot. Mandrake did not disappoint on this evening. This space has seen several other projects in the past several years...I have to say that I love what Mandrake has done with it. As with Kiki (it's sister spot), Mandrake's design is super engaging and kind of psychedelic. Both the inside and the courtyard are sort of plush and rich with color. Vibrant. And sexy. Well as is apropos on a Saturday night everyone was happy to be seen and in the scene, our 5Some included. Our server was the fantastic Rudy. He was attentive, friendly, warm and just overall cool throughout the evening. Our crew is a blend of meat eaters and veggies, so we enjoyed a real variety of goods. the girls ordered several sushi plates including the gorgeous sushi platter. We also added on the Butter Lettuce Salad, Mixed Veggies and the Asparagus side. A real table favorite was the Eggplant Shishito dish. That sucker was DELICIOUS. We ordered a coupla more of those! As expected the music was on point and every now and then big ole Birthday brigades(including ours!) would appear with fog, horns and overall hotness again reminiscent of Kiki. Visited on 11/04/2022 - First time coming to Mandrake for a birthday dinner and the ambience is amazing beautifully lit and decorated establishment with charm and character. However the service was lackluster to say the least our server was very disorganized with taking the tables order leading everyone to get their foods at different times and more times often than not he could be see having more fun when bottles came out rather then tending to his guest. Aside from that the food was ok nothing really special about it, it was however plated beautifully and made for some great pictures. Was it worth the price maybe not but the experience of eating with a live strip show makes you forget about that. Lastly and most importantly me and several of my group observed a flying palmetto bug aka a roach inside the establishment watched it fly around to land on the cloth seats and eventually make its way inside the seat into the wood part. Also when going outside to take pictures by the swing witnessed 3-4 mouse's running around the outside area. Mandrake wasn't a bad time at all honestly was a fun experience and would recommend trying it at least once, however once is all i needed. read more

Food was ok, but the service was HORRIBLE. It was a little busy but that doesn't excuse the fact that my waitress (who's name I don't remember) provided the absolutely worst customer service over ever had. She took our orders then never came back. I had to place my drink order through the food runner. I understand it being busy but let your tables know what's going on. If you're the only waitress, tell us. Don't just disappear for 30minutes. The manager Monica did everything she could to fix the issue. I saw her taking tables & she even brought use champagne on the house. The restaurant must be reading these reviews because I went there for the first time last night and it was far from what I've read. In regards to the price you are going to a nice restaurant that creates a lively ambiance on Miami Beach this isn't your neighborhood IHOP if you can't afford don't complain the food is overpriced know where you're going. The chef they brought from Nobu created a delicious and small menu. They have a crazy fun ambiance on the inside with a Dj and live drums you can get bottle service and hookah to your table while the outside seating is a tad more laid back not as loud. They also have a sushi bar in the front of the restaurant if you don't want to be in the middle of everything. The second we got in we were greeted by 3 hosts extremely welcoming and quick to our table. Our waiter was quick with the delicious drinks I got the Fabulust and my friend got the mule both were delicious. The servers and busboys were both speedy and very nice. The second you moved your drink or finished your food the busboys were there to wipe or clean immediately. For an appetizer with got the bluefin Tuna sushi roll. It was light delicious and the perfect appetizer along with Black Sea salt edamame. Then for the entree the sharing whole 1.5 lb fried fish it was delicious paired with the asian styles vegetables, fried rice and potatoes. Came out hot with a lot of flavor, the dipping sauce for the fish was a sweet and sour and a scallion sauce as well mixed it was décidant. We finished with the chocolate cake and mochi. Both were to die for so much flavor. Overall great restaurant they have definitely improved since they first opened give it a chance before you read these reviews from opening. Very nice ambiance and decor. The music and DJ were pretty good. However, the food isn't that great and with the exception of the Chilean Sea Bass (which was a special of the day) & pork shoulder, the food was bland. To top it off, the food is incredibly expensive for how subpar the food turned out. They trick you with the presentation. Also, the customer service was pretty bad and our server had a hard time understanding us. They also charged us for sauces they brought to the table that we didn't even ask for. Party of 10 walk in and they tell us they can not accommodate us as one gentleman in our group has on shorts. Long shorts keep in mind not bathing suit shorts. So I went to Mandrake for the first time not knowing what to expect whatsoever. I'm leaving the rating I gave because I was blown away by how lively the restaurant was and how delicious the food was. Not sure what the deal is with the negative reviews because I didn't experience anything but professionalism from the staff and tasty food from the menu. Yes it was a bit pricy but that's what I expected going into it so it didn't shock me . I had two different types of drinks both were fantastic. The service was some of the best I've ever experienced at a restaurant. Extremely quick and always checking back on us to make sure we had everything we needed. If there was a finished plate on the table for more than 5 seconds I'd be shocked because the staff would be there to clean your table within seconds of finishing! Attention to detail was clearly evident with numerous things around the restaurant. From the way they folded your napkin, to them wiping your table if there was even a small droplet of water. We had a reservation for 9 o clock and were seated as soon as we arrived. From the moment we walked in we couldn't stop noticing the great layout and design of the place. The music was great and they even had a percussionist who would jump in at points who was very entertaining. I saw nothing but smiles and people having a great time the whole time we were there. Okay I am sad to say that I did not have a good experience with this restaurant. The only thing I have to give light to was the hostess because they really are patient and sweet girls. Antonella was exceptionally sweet and was ver flexible with my reservation for my friends who had been very late! I had a reservation at 10 and my friends arrived there an hour late and she still found a place to sit us. Unfortunately it was outside but that was no ones fault but our own for being late. My complain goes to the food and certain servers. I don't think that the food is worth the money at all. The largest portion they have there is some rice dish which was like $25 and it didn't even taste good. Our food came out super late and things were brought up even later than they were supposed to. Then, there was an issue with the fans. There were many people complaining back and forth about the heat and the waiters took our fan away without considering us and that really pissed me off. It took the third waiter to consider us and move the fan back. They should have more fans considering that it's miami, and the place is popular. I don't see myself coming back here to be honest. The problems for our group were; they changed our server 3 times in the first 25 mins, we waited for food and drinks that never came, and the music was so loud and ear piercing you could barley talk to the person next to you, much less the servers. Came out for the first time last night with a group of 7 on a Saturday evening. We were sat 20 min after arrival due to being late for our reservation time. The place is nicely decorated with asian artifacts and feel. The tables have a gold colored chopstick and some of the food is sprinkled with what looks like gold shavings. Service was good at the table, bar, and restroom. However, food wise I have to give it a 3/5. Food was overly priced for the taste and therefor not worth it despite the plate presentation. The bathroom only have two single bathrooms for both male and females which was a problem because the line built up quickly. Additionally, the music was loud and like a club which is not my taste but it matched the environment and location which is a club atmosphere. read more

I love this place! I had the beef tenderloin & crispy Peruvian potatoes which was fabulous .The dessert (mochi ice-cream) wasn't doing it for me. I love my sweets and do think that part of the menu can be spruced up a bit. The atmosphere is so stunning. Bartender, Tyler was so sweet, drinks were great. We had 5 star service. I really enjoyed Mandrake. To be honest, based on the negative reviews I was a bit skeptical about the restaurant. I'm happy to report my experience was different. The decor is fantastic all around. What's also cool is there are several areas of the restaurant to sit in and a bar in each room. Each space is cohesive but has its own vibe. The outside area was my favorite though (but it's generally my preference). We were a party of 3 with a birthday guest of honor. Our server was Samantha, who was a pleasure! She was warm, attentive, and helpful. The bus staff also did a great job of making sure empty plates didn't stand around, but also didn't take the plates away when they are low and people are still picking at the food (pet peeve). The menu is small (but good!) and the prices are reasonable for Miami Beach. Although we did not eat from the entire menu, we had three dishes which were stellar. My favorite being the Eggplant & Shishito along with the Alaskan King Crab & Uni Inaniwa Noodles. The noodles were soooooooooo good. SO good that a table next to us even ordered a second helping. The portion sizes are not bad, and it is presented nicely with gold leaf. Although I personally would prefer more noodles over the gold leaf. Mandrake was very hospitable and made the birthday girl and us feel special. She was treated to a delicious Mochi dessert, along with song and candles. We also were then given a round of lemoncello on the house, which was such a lovely and welcome surprise. My only con is the bathroom situation, as for a large restaurant there is only one toilet per sex. I personally did not have a problem- but could foresee this as an issue with a full house. Amazing amazing decor! I love it! I hate I can't capture the pictures on my iPhone, it doesn't do this place any justice! Gianni was our sever and he was more than amazing!!! Besides the decor, the vibe" was great!!! Good music after 10pm and great hookah! Yes guys hookah (I know you're saying wow in your head)! Big groups are perfect for this venue! I went with my husband and we had a blast but we're romantically weird so it works for us, we love to people watch! Hahahahaha! food was good I had the carb-less pad Thai shrimp noodles (which is eniko mushrooms instead of actual noodles), king crab legs tempura (the tamarind spicy sauce to dip which is yummy) , waygu beef empanadas along with avocado aioli (yum), chicken fried rice (OK) and the angus beef with Japanese squash underneath and asparagus with a drizzle of beurre blanc sauce (OK) . The food was great but the service was terrible. The staff were very "indifferent" to myself & my family. I went last night for my birthday dinner but the tone & the treatment by the staff was horrible & I believe it was because of our race. Ex: They have an amazing outdoor space to take pictures & they have a preferred door to go out of to the area. A staff went through another door to the area to tell me I looked nice & wish a happy birthday, a waitress then came outside to tell me she "Told me not to use the other door" when I never did. I sent my drink back because I didn't like it & waited over an hour for the new one. I was asked did I have reservations at the door before being let in, when the people in front of me (of a different race) were let in immediately.
