This is not an upscale restaurant. Your better off spending the money they charge at a REAL upscale, 5 star restaurant like Hakkasan Miami, STK(on the same corner) komodo( the best wagyu steak) novikov( same type of food but wayyyyyyyyyyyy better). This restaurant has no class. They treat their customers poorly and the manager (Tim Pappas) is a little brat that will LITERALLY argue with you in front of everyone and embarrass the sh*t out of you. After having an unforgettable birthday experience here at Mandrake, I decided to go back hoping for the same experience. Upon arriving we were greeted by the door host who is always very nice and welcoming. But that stopped as soon as I made it to the hostess table. The hostess didn't seem to want to help at all, she didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all. After calling Mandrake and no one answering the phone to advise them I was running late ... I was told when I arrived that my reservation was cancelled. When I told them I called they went ahead put me back on the list but told me we would have to wait. So I waited in the front ....all to have 2 hostess girls make comments about me waiting in front of their hostess table. There isn't chairs to wait at, the bar was packed, so please feel free to share where you would like me to wait. So I ask her... where should I wait, she doesn't speak just points to the bar. Okay cool, you're rude, I'm not going to let you ruin the night. So we walk over to the bar in the main room. (Last time we were greeted with a glass of champagne as we walked in, that didn't happen this time. ) So we got a drink to hold us over while we waited. As we waited at the bar, the vibe was great, the music was great. I notice a table is empty for a little over 15 mins. So I walk to the hostess to ask if we could be seated at that empty table. I was told no, it's probably reserved. Oh okay, but it's been empty for over 15 mins. My "reservation" was cancelled because I was told I was 15 min late and didn't call. The hostess rolled her eyes told me I would need to find the manager and take it up with him. Oh okay, let me find the manager, the person I have no idea who they are. Makes sense. So I go back to the bar, trying to not have my date realize I'm frustrated since it was there first time and I talked SO HIGHLY of this establishment. We waited about another 15 mins in which the other hostess came to find me and sat us at the "reserved" table. Thank god we didn't have to deal with those girls again.... Bc the rest of the night was amazing. The service provided by the waiters and by the rest of the staff is always so amazing and they are very attentive. My waiter from my previous visit even remembered me and offered me a shot. Great way to end the night... :) I say. I would recommend a friendlier hostess crew being that first impressions are EVERYTHING. the easiest way to describe them is... THEY SUCK. Thank god the rest of the crew made up for their lack of hospitality. This place is horrible. I went for my birthday with a large group and the worst service ever!! I used to be a waitress so I tend to defend servers but our server was so bad we didnt even get his the name. Our food took over an hour to get to the table. Any drink outside of their cocktail menu was disgusting. The music is so loud you can even hear what the person in front of you in saying. Its like they want to mesh a nightclub and a restaurant and that's ridiculous. We spent so much money for such a crappy service. They seriously need to train their staff better. I went to Mandrake for my friends 21 birthday party it was a table of 14 guest and we waited over an hour and a half to put in drink orders we waited another hour for the drinks to come the waitress was nowhere to be found. The food Busser kept coming to table walking around like they had no idea what was going on dropping plates that none of us had ordered. My husband had to get up on 3 separate occasions to look for waitress and call her to table and even yet we were not Able to order food. After 3 hours of waiting and getting random food brought to and taken from table. We decided to get up and leave. The Restraunt didn't notice 14 angered clients get up and walk out. The waitress later came out looking for us 10 min later when she finally decided to come by and check her table. The Restraunt later proceeded to threaten us with police for leaving, mind you the bill was nothing we had ordered or even ate. I highly suggest you stay away from this Restraunt worst service I have ever received and I have dined in the best restaurants in miami, New York, Las Vegas and Chicago. I would never step foot there again! Neither will my group of friends which by the way have a huge social media following and we will make sure to let it be known. This unprofessional nature will continue to down spiral because 22% of gratuity was included in a check and for a table she never attended and still made money off. Have to update my review on this place. Last time I was here was prior to COVID. I gave them 5 stars because my group had such a good time, and the service was fantastic. I dined here again tonight and I am SO disappointed. Everything was subpar and the service was really lackluster. My husband and I grabbed a drink at the bar while waiting for our group. I ordered a lychee martini and the bartender poured me a pre-mixed drink into a coupe glass and dropped a cherry inside. I had to ask her if she could at least shake it with ice because the drink was room temp and gross. She charged me $20 for that lol. Once we sat, the service didn't get much better. We ordered a few appetizers, sushi included. The rolls were good, but they didn't drop off any soy sauce and when I asked for some they brought me one little container to share with the other 5 people at my table. After the appetizers the bussers picked up our little plates and when the entrees came, we literally had to grab clean plates off the empty table next to us because no one came back to see if we needed anything to eat. The whole place just seemed to be run down and not what we remembered. For being in Miami Beach, and for having a million other options, this is no longer a place I would recommend. ): disappointing read more

Honestly the food was whatever. Over priced and not special. However, it'll get 3 stars from me because of the beautiful and trendy look of the place. Plus they have a good DJ. I really enjoyed when you walked in they gave complimentary champagne. In terms of service though, they were TOO good. Meaning they were basically helicoptering us waiting to pick up our empty plates. Which made for an uncomfortable and rushed experience. They picked up a plate that still had a little piece of food on it and I wasn't even done I still wanted it. It goes from the managers walking around looking like they are bothered with you being there. Some of the staffs are friendly while others are rude and look like the do not like to work there. We only came here for drinks but had the best time. We were surprised the place was empty at 7:30pm. They have a very innovative drink menu that is served in pretty glasses. From food to service, the Mandrake Miami was nothing but a disappointment. Confused as to why we had multiple servers "trying" to attend to us and yet the food came delayed, separately, and undercooked. Ordered: a Bahama Mama. A friend of ours ordered at the bar and bartender didn't even know what that was. He had to google it for him and show him the ingredients that it contains. Ordered: a spicy tuna and spicy salmon w/o rice (asked for a cucumber roll or an alternative). Actually received a sloppy sheet of seaweed rolled around what looked like pieces of tuna/salmon. Had them return the "sushi" and ordered octopus which finally came out after our table was finished eating. Ordered: beef tenderloin. Requested "well done", waiter suggested "medium well" because "well done" would be "burnt" then continued to assured us that it would be cooked perfect. We actually received it pink and bloody... blood running through the purée that came along with it. A different waiter served it, and another different waiter had to take it back to get recooked (yes, that's three separate waiters to assist). -Asking for water and refills seemed like a chore. And plates/drinks were cleared from table without asking. -Never saw the same waiter. -Finding someone to get the check was a mission and once the bill came, it truly pained us that we had to pay for an upsetting and below par experience. Went for a Birthday and unfortunately the traffic in Miami is terrible! None of my guest arrived on time and do to that we lost our reservation! I had to wait for other reservations to be accommodated before setting my party even though it was less than the original reservation. The ambience was amazing and the bartenders were super accommodating and friendly. I do suggest being early and having more than half of your party arriving with you! After waiting for a long time they were able to seat our party and gave us champagne on the house. The food was good , and the Vallet parking was perfect! read more

22% service charge?? and smoking is allowed on covered deck? Food was just OK, my local sushi joint back home is better. they have a nice covered outside area but everyone was smoking. I guess the local law allows it, but not good if you are not a smoker. We spent the weekend in Miami and everywhere adds an 18 % service charge which I get so the staff doesn't get stiffed on the tips but 22% here? Service was so so at best. read more

I wish I could give this place a 0 star.. me and 15 friends went here for someone's birthday. It was very small plates when the waiter told us the menu items where meant to share. The food was not worth the price at all. The waiter told us our bill was too cheap and we need to order bottle service. Then we got our bill and there were things on it that we didn't even order. Our water was $200.....we ordered the basic free water. We went back and got all of our money back for the items we didn't order. $500 back. This place try's scamming you so you spend more money. Went for my sisters birthday. We had reservations and were immediately sat. We didn't drive since parking is a hassle but they do offer valet, not sure for how much. The decor inside and outside is stunning. Our server was very attentive and answered our questions. I had their version of the mule my sister had the Fabulust, Drinks were ok, nothing to rave about. we had the crispy soft shell shrimp. The shrimp has the head on and is fried it's served with some kind of aioli, which was good, It was different eating shrimp with the shell but I would eat it again. I had the shrimp fried rice which was delicious! My sister had the pad Thai, there aren't any noodles .the noodles are replaced with enoki mushrooms. It was very tasty, and I would never think of that twist. The portions could be bigger for the price you're paying. 28 for pad Thai and 17 for the shrimp fried rice, I would expect more food. We declined desert but our server was nice enough to bring out some ice cream with sparklers. That was sweet of him. read more

Wow, what an EXPERIENCE ! It's the only word I can sum up to explain this place. Every corner of it is gorgeous. It's impossible to take a bad photo there. The servers and staff are BEYOND rockstars. And the food was HEAVENLY ! Mandrake holds the life of Miami within the walls. It wasnt just your typical restaurant experience, it was like entering a high end nightclub that so happens to also serve enticing & delicious food & not to mention the creative drinks. Went for Valentine's Day and made a reservation without being notified that there would only be a fixed menu. The restaurant should have better advertised there would be no regular menu. For how much they charged, we laughed each time another course came out because the portions were ridiculously small. Our server raved about the dessert saying how much he wanted to add it to the regular menu, it was a dry, flat and nearly flavorless chocolate cake with crumbles of strange chocolate on the side. Everything was presented beautifully, but there was too little and not enough flavor for what they were charging. Also beware the automatic 22% gratuity charge... there is no way to make it lower even if the service is sub-par (which it was). The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and has a lot of potential, but they need to work out some kinks in the menu and the service for how much they are charging. read more

We had the pleasure to dine at Mandrake Miami. The restaurant location is in the heart of South Beach, once we got inside the restaurant there was a beautiful Japanese inspired entry way that leads to the hostess stand, cherry blossoms and red carpet gave it a very luxurious feel, then after that the space opens up to a gorgeous main dining room, the architecture and ambiance are lively and romantic, that's why the restaurant is more suited for couples or large groups who are looking for a party restaurant. We were seated promptly and the manager introduced himself and welcomed us, then shortly after the chef came out and kindly offered us the chef's tasting menu. Our server and rest of the staff were constantly checking upon us, the food was fantastic!! Pork belly, sashimi, smoked eel, noodles and steak with squash sauce; everything tasted good and was presented very well, not to mention the amazing drinks! We also had the chance to discover the outdoors patio the restaurant offers which is a huge plus for guests who prefer outdoors dining, the overall experience was amazing. read more

I really don't understand the 1 star review! Maybe that person didn't realize that they "just opened" I came with a group of 40 people... yes there was confusion but everyone working was running and engaged with every guest! Which is very hard when you've just open a place up. I was very impressed with Roberto, every time he came to the table he had a smile and was only there for us and our experience. At least that's what I thought when I looked around he was helping everyone from servers, bussers, and runners! Even the manger Julia came and stoped at the table and I could see her checking on tables around us, but the amazing part was every manger I saw was checking on every table giving their all!! This restaurant is awesome! The atmosphere is great, amazing music and the dinner shows were a nice touch. It was a lengthy wait when they promised it would only be 20 mins but when we brought it up to the hostess attention the manager immediately got us a table and even complimentary champagne. The drinks were amazing!! We chose to have small bites so we ordered the pork belly and the shrimp tempura roll. The pork belly was lacking a little bit of flavor and was very greasy. The roll was great. Over all it was a great experience my only suggestion would be to expand the menu options its a very small food menu. Other than that the service was outstanding! I had dinner at Mandrake with a group of friends this past Friday. This is one of the most beautifully-decorated restaurants in Miami and the environment is lively and so much fun. I must also say that the food was really good, the sushi was fresh and very tasty. The waiter was very nice and while he did his best to keep up with our large party, the service was still slow (food took a long time to arrive). I usually do not write reviews, but I had to share the negative experience with valet. Since parking is usually a hassle in South Beach I decided to park with valet (which is $20). I left my car with the attendant at 11pm and came back for it at 1am. The valet attendant that returned my car told me I owed $40 instead of $20. Needless to say I was very confused as to why the price had gone up significantly in a matter of two hours. The valet manager informed me that after 11pm the valet is used for guests that attend the club next door, Mokai, and that I had to pay the $40. I called Mandrake the next day and without mentioning my ordeal was informed by a friendly staff member that valet is $20 for the entire night. I'm sure I'm not the only person valet has cheated and highly recommend Mandrake's management looks into this before it becomes a bigger issue. On another note, a group of friends had to sit outside because there were no available tables inside and simply put the heat was unbearable. Miami's summer heat is no joke and a restaurant of this caliber (fine-dining, luxury) should take this into account and do it's best to cater to all of its patrons (regardless of where they are sitting). Fans are not the answer; management should seriously consider closing the terrace and/or adding AC and better air systems. read more

Got here and it was super vip (which I absolutely love) Staff was very professional and polite, even gave me a glass of champagne when I walked in . Now to the bad part, the food . I wanted to love it but it was so disappointing I was speechless. I order the chicken fried rice and it was very bland, I tried added the sauces but that didn't help. Terrible and mediocre service. I wish I would have went through these reviews before booking a reservation for my birthday. We asked for drinks on the rocks and instead of correcting the drinks the second time they just decanted it. Pretty cheap move for what's suppose to be a better class restaurant. First time visiting Miami and of all the places I have been this tops everything. Every room has beautiful decorations making you notice something new during your time in the restaurant. The service was impeccable, all the staff members were extremely kind and quick. Now to the good part. You will not regret anything you ordered. We tried a couple of items from appetizers, entrees, to desert all were AMAZING!!!! You can't pick a favorite because they are all so good. The fish is very fresh and drinks are fantastic.
