Had my haircut today with Christina. She's great. Listens to what I wanted to do with my hair, yet made suggestions of what would look good on me. I would recommend her to anyone. My husband gets his haircut with Christina too, and it's the best men's haircut Ive ever seen him have. While we live in Chicago, most of the salons make his hair too 'puffy' and he looks like a fool, but Christina gives him a clean look, without it being obvious. And it looks good too growing out. This was my go to salon for the last several years however a recent experience with Crystal has lead me to go elsewhere. I was told over the phone before my appointment that my braids (2 bubble braids on short hair) were simple and would cost the price I had paid the last 4 times ($45). When I arrived it was very obvious that Crystal had a poor attitude and did not want to be there. (My appt was at 6:15 they close at 8pm) She went as far as to tell me she hates working late hours and she would rather not be there and get her day done early with. She made negative comments about my hair that were not helpful. Her overall energy was very negative and I truly could not wait to get out of that chair and leave. I go up front to pay and the receptionist tells me my 2 "simple" bubble braids are $92! I paid and it was clear I was not happy. When I objected the cost the receptionist said "The price is up to the receptionist you can talk to her" Crystal was already gone or in the back so there was no way for me to do that. I called the salon the next day and spoke with a manager that did not seem to care whatsoever about the mistake that was made. Not only was I told over the phone that my service would cost $45 but historically that is what I had paid for hairstyles even more detailed than the basic bubble braids I had. After speaking with an initial manager and getting nowhere I left a review on their website and only then was I called and my situation was taken seriously. The manager that I finally spoke with was empathetic and gave me a partial refund. Unfortunately I will not be returning as the experience with Crystal was so negative as was finding a resolution and feeling valued as a long time customer, the customer service was just not there. I've never had a problem coming here I've always felt great when leaving, every stylist I've worked with has been great so this negative experience really stuck out for me. Well, I have so much to say. I normally go to well-known hairstylist and yes you pay for what you get. I trusted a friends friend to do my hair because I seen some pictures. To make a long story short I had natural hair color, beautiful, long and thick. She destroyed my hair. She turned my hair, orange and soph yellow. I tried to reach her for over three days, and when she finally met me again, she turned my hair, completely yellow and fried, my hair so badly that it was a knot. I reached out to the salon, and I said it's an emergency! They introduced me to Rosanna And sent me home with hair treatments. A few times my hair was so nodded. I go in and she would graciously come at all out. It took a few weeks to make a long story short. She completed my hair yesterday, and I cried when I was in the car because it came out, so so beautiful! I'm not wanting to take pictures of myself, but when I find someone to take it, I will gladly post it. But I cannot say enough of what she did. She had a battle with my hair, but my God, shocking, it looks absolutely beautiful, and I got so many compliments! I was so amazed by the experience here i can't wait to go back. Haley did everything I asked for. She didn't cut it too long or too short. Just perfect. I unfortunately had the worst experience i have ever had in a salon today. I had booked an appointment at 2 pm with a student to do my hair and had asked her if I could bring my daughter who is a toddler with me. She had let me know it was okay. I made sure we were ready to go and had everything we needed. I had arrived early as I was told to and didn't end up sitting in the chair until around 2:45 which is okay. When I had sat down and discussed what I wanted to do with my hair with the girl Madeline and her instructor, we talked for about 10-20 minutes on what we were going to do. Took my hair out of a ponytail and everything. The owner stood up and began to tell me out of nowhere that "this isn't a good idea to have my child here because they have a class going on." He was looking at my daughter who was in her stroller contained. I was NEVER informed or aware of this. I don't want to feel like a burden with my child and I shouldn't feel this way especially if i was told it was okay. I got up and left and the girl offered to book me again and I told her I'll think about it. I'm not sure I'll come back. I'm a small business owner in the area and I have never been treated like this anywhere. I will be letting the community know. I'm extremely disappointed in this salon because I was really excited and heard great things, which is why I chose you guys. I was flexible, patient, and understanding. Reading the reviews, I was impressed by one from a guy with long hair who raved about DeAnna. My hair was shoulder length and in need of shaping, so encouraged by his review, I booked an appointment. So happy I did. The salon is great, and the staff is wonderful. I was greeted and given a tour of the salon before being introduced to DeAnna. DeAnna really worked with me on coming up with a style that suited my features. I was open to keeping it long or going shorter and we went for something in-between. She really understood my hair, thick, but fine, and gave me a cut that I am thrilled with. It is so versatile and easy to maintain. At the end, she advised me to come back in 5-6 weeks to freshen the style. At check out, I was given a coupon to use for either a treatment or product, and I felt that the salon truly appreciated my business. Chris, the owner spoke to me over the phone and was kind and eager to figure out what I was looking to have done so he could relay to the available stylist. He even checked in on me during my visit. I arrived early for my appointment and everyone was very courteous. I got a tour of the salon and was offered refreshments. Since I was very early, my original stylist agreed to switch with another stylist, Cortney, and I didn't have to wait. I was fully expecting to wait my turn, but they made accommodations for me which was very kind of everyone involved. My hair was shampooed thoroughly and my neck and back massaged. Stopped in for a last-minute walk-in appointment for my granddaughter, who has hair down past her butt that needed trimming and tidying up. Kayla didn't have any current appointments on her calendar; therefore, was tasked with trimming/cutting her hair. And, no, my granddaughter was non too pleased about having her lovely-to-her tresses cut. Kayla was very patient, snipping and cutting away as her antsy customer kept turning her head when she wasn't supposed to, needing more lemonade, having to go to the bathroom after drinking so much lemonade, etc. Finally, an hour later, she was done. She not only trimmed about six inches off the bottom but thinned it out from the inside. And, yes, it does look quite nice, and I think my granddaughter is quite pleased. Haircuts for adults start at $67. I think I might go for myself. I had gone there long ago, and I had gone to events where Mane Attraction was in attendance, but I think I'll give them another shot. read more

TL DR: Waste of time and money. I was promised service equivalent to a steak dinner but received a fast food burger instead. To the Salon: Don't book new clients with stylists who are on their way out- this is NOT how you get us to come back. Please do better! At least inform the client that the stylist is leaving. Shame on you. To Potential Clients: Ensure your stylists are familiar with trichology and demand that steak dinner if it's what you were promised. I REALLY wanted to like this place, however, I was disappointed at every corner. I'm not sure why salons like MAS pride themselves on being one of the "best" when your stylists are not even familiar with trichology (those of you who looked it up and don't care, well you should- imagine going to your Primary Care Physician and finding out they never bothered taking nutrition classes in med school... weird right?). My "consultation" consisted of the stylist simply asking what style I was looking for- no inquiry about hair history, products used, the health of my hair/scalp, etc. I was told by the receptionist I would get a neck and scalp massage but I did not- my hair wasn't even conditioned and the shampoo was a mess. Although he did proceed to put 4 different products in my hair, while styling, without informing me what he was doing (my hair feels so gross). All other stylists were offering their customers a beverage but I did not get even get offered water. We had to fix my hair THREE TIMES before I gave up and realized my stylist just didn't care. He was busy styling my bangs for some reason, rather than giving me the layers I asked for. I had to be the one to ask him to see the back of my hair and realized he only cut my hair short when I specifically asked for more volume around my crown area. He apologized but was pretty rude and tried to pass me off to another stylist, initially. After all, it was his last day so who cares if I return to the salon or not. No need to treat me well, build rapport, all while ruining my hair. I still gave him a tip because the human in me felt bad that his mother is very ill. When I was checking out, I was asked about my service- I said it was just ok and she proceeded to say "Ok great! Your total is $68, would you like to leave a tip?" Great response, thanks. I find this is common in salons in Scottsdale and Biltmore- overpriced service for uneducated stylists. I'm absolutely aware that AZ education is pretty poor but I have had former students in cosmetology schools do a better job than this. I'm not petty enough to ask for a refund, nor do I want to come back. I will say, it is 100% my fault for trying a new place right before my bday and the holidays- shame on me. read more

This was my Second haircut with Heather please look at your books. the first occurred 2,5 mo the ago and YES it was a repair from a previous salon. She blended the haircut that was received from the previous salon and i had no problems . in fact when i visited with her on Saturday i made comment of how easy it was to style and how much it grew out. The problem was that this visit she was toggling between my haircut and a root touch up cause she insisted she could SQUEEZE in the cut . That was the problem she didn't multitask very well. When the appointment was made to fix Shannon also made mention that Heather told her . i corrected Shannon that was inaccurate . Shannons attitude was so poor about having to fix someone bad work she made a production about it . she also left me sitting in the lobby for 25 minutes as she went into the break room and host the stylist who walked in and out as you sat there being gawked at as the walked in and out . That is what made the situation even worse . cause people make mistakes it how you handle it that makes all the difference in the world . Shannon choose to be condescending and rude . So please look at your records and recognize that Heather wasn't being exactly honest about the haircut and that the fault lies in her toggling back and forth between me and another patron and that is how the haircut got of course. your books will reflect my first visit that heather even looked to see when i was in last and she cut my hair in February first week in February .
