TL DR: Waste of time and money. I was promised service equivalent to a steak dinner but received a fast food burger instead. To the Salon: Don't book new clients with stylists who are on their way out- this is NOT how you get us to come back. Please do better! At least inform the client that the stylist is leaving. Shame on you. To Potential Clients: Ensure your stylists are familiar with trichology and demand that steak dinner if it's what you were promised. I REALLY wanted to like this place, however, I was disappointed at every corner. I'm not sure why salons like MAS pride themselves on being one of the "best" when your stylists are not even familiar with trichology (those of you who looked it up and don't care, well you should- imagine going to your Primary Care Physician and finding out they never bothered taking nutrition classes in med school... weird right?). My "consultation" consisted of the stylist simply asking what style I was looking for- no inquiry about hair history, products used, the health of my hair/scalp, etc. I was told by the receptionist I would get a neck and scalp massage but I did not- my hair wasn't even conditioned and the shampoo was a mess. Although he did proceed to put 4 different products in my hair, while styling, without informing me what he was doing (my hair feels so gross). All other stylists were offering their customers a beverage but I did not get even get offered water. We had to fix my hair THREE TIMES before I gave up and realized my stylist just didn't care. He was busy styling my bangs for some reason, rather than giving me the layers I asked for. I had to be the one to ask him to see the back of my hair and realized he only cut my hair short when I specifically asked for more volume around my crown area. He apologized but was pretty rude and tried to pass me off to another stylist, initially. After all, it was his last day so who cares if I return to the salon or not. No need to treat me well, build rapport, all while ruining my hair. I still gave him a tip because the human in me felt bad that his mother is very ill. When I was checking out, I was asked about my service- I said it was just ok and she proceeded to say "Ok great! Your total is $68, would you like to leave a tip?" Great response, thanks. I find this is common in salons in Scottsdale and Biltmore- overpriced service for uneducated stylists. I'm absolutely aware that AZ education is pretty poor but I have had former students in cosmetology schools do a better job than this. I'm not petty enough to ask for a refund, nor do I want to come back. I will say, it is 100% my fault for trying a new place right before my bday and the holidays- shame on me. read more

This was my Second haircut with Heather please look at your books. the first occurred 2,5 mo the ago and YES it was a repair from a previous salon. She blended the haircut that was received from the previous salon and i had no problems . in fact when i visited with her on Saturday i made comment of how easy it was to style and how much it grew out. The problem was that this visit she was toggling between my haircut and a root touch up cause she insisted she could SQUEEZE in the cut . That was the problem she didn't multitask very well. When the appointment was made to fix Shannon also made mention that Heather told her . i corrected Shannon that was inaccurate . Shannons attitude was so poor about having to fix someone bad work she made a production about it . she also left me sitting in the lobby for 25 minutes as she went into the break room and host the stylist who walked in and out as you sat there being gawked at as the walked in and out . That is what made the situation even worse . cause people make mistakes it how you handle it that makes all the difference in the world . Shannon choose to be condescending and rude . So please look at your records and recognize that Heather wasn't being exactly honest about the haircut and that the fault lies in her toggling back and forth between me and another patron and that is how the haircut got of course. your books will reflect my first visit that heather even looked to see when i was in last and she cut my hair in February first week in February . I recently visited MAS to get my hair done for a wedding. Being a bridesmaid, I wanted to save myself the time and the stress of doing my own hair, even though it was a simple request. The bride wanted us girls to have our hair braided and curled. I explained this to MAS and they were able to get me in last minute, which I greatly appreciated. However, the cost of $100 just to braid my hair and curl it was a little much. Especially since my curls DID NOT even stay by the time I got home. I even asked my stylist if the curls would stay and she reassured me by saying she added a lot of hair spray. By the looks of the curls, they seemed like they were not going to stay so I was hesitant. I curl my hair myself everyday and the curls I could tell were not tight at all. She said I might have to touch up the curls before the ceremony but I feel like I shouldn't have to especially if I'm paying that much to get my hair curled. In all honestly, I curl my hair and it lasts all night and the next day without a touch up. Like I said, I paid for the convenience but it turned out not to do so convenient in the end. I went to get my makeup done by a makeup artist the bride knows who I found out later does hair as well, and she even had to add more hairspray to my hair because it was practically flat at that point. read more

For dudes with long hair, DeAnna is the one you want to see! I had some very idiosyncratic instructions for her (I asked for a modern long shag mullet, which doesn't seem to be too common of a request these days), and she did great. I brought in a reference photo, and (after she took the time to advise me on whether such a cut would suit my face/style) she understood what I was looking for. I was taken to a quiet separate room to have my hair washed, and whoever it was that washed my hair (I don't remember her name, sorry) took her time, gave a bit of a neck/shoulder/scalp massage, and gave me some tips on how I should take care of my hair. It was very relaxing. After I returned to the chair, DeAnna asked a few more questions and got started. She was very conscientious about keeping the length -- she could tell I was very attached to my hair and was extremely careful to avoid cutting off too much -- and she still got the style right. She was friendly and chatted a little, but her focus never strayed from the task at hand. Even though this was kind of a complicated haircut with a lot of steps, she took her time, and it never felt like she was rushing things. Once she was done with the cutting part, she took the time to put some product in and showed me how to style my hair to get the edgy look I was looking for. She double and triple-checked to make sure everything was to my satisfaction before letting me out of the chair. She even offered to do a complimentary touch-up in the next couple weeks if I wanted anything adjusted. On the way out, she provided some product recommendations necessary to get the look that she achieved, but she was not pushy about getting me to purchase anything. I find it very off-putting when I feel pressured into unnecessary purchases, so I appreciated this very much. The salon itself is well-maintained and has a classy modern feel. They have refreshments available for waiting customers. The other stylists and staff were all friendly, even taking the time to compliment me on my outfit and letting me know how they felt about the new haircut. My appointment started right on time too, so I didn't have to wait. In the past, I've only gone to chain places like Great Clips to get haircuts. But if your hair is as important to you as mine is to me, it's worth spending a little extra for the superior service. The price is very reasonable for what you are getting. This is the first time I've ever walked out of a salon feeling 100% comfortable with a haircut. What more can I say? I'm sure all the stylists at Mane Attraction are great, but if you're looking for something cool, something rock n roll, you can't go wrong with DeAnna! read more

Katherine is THE BEST. I am very particular on my hair especially the color and it has been hard for me to find someone that does the exact shade of blonde I want but she nails it every single time. I have gotten highlights, balayages, bleach and tones, and cuts from Katherine and have never been disappointed. She also is very friendly and I've gotten to build a great relationship with her over the years. Every time I'm in her chair I feel like I'm hanging out with a friend. I just took my preteen son to Mane Attraction. It was our first time there and Qrystyl was his stylist. She did a terrific job with his hair and was kind and patient with him and when his hair was done, he was smiling and feeling confident, which was worth way more than the cost of the haircut. When I told him I thought we should write a review and asked him how many stars, he immediately said, "5!" and when asked him if there were anything I should mention specifically, he said, "She was really fun to talk to and did an especially thorough shampoo and rinse." Great salon but too pricey I went there for color and cut. Had to go back for a color touch up but they were great about it and overall felt Kristina was really good. It's just that this place is very expensive. I ended up seeing the owner at David Frank salon and got one of the best haircuts in my life....I have short hair. Wow. What an amazing experience. I want to start by saying I have scalp psoriasis. I literally get a haircut once a year to save me from being in that dreadful chair. I had the day off and it's time for my yearly haircut. I checked google to see who was close to me that had availability day of. Mane attraction popped up. I went to their website at 4 pm and was able to make an appointment at 4:30. I actually didn't think it was real. I got a welcome phone call about 5 minutes after I scheduled the appointment. I came to the studio and was welcomed by the friendliest staff. They gave me a tour around the studio and all. I met my hair professional, Sye. She was incredible. I told her right away about my psoriasis. She was so kind and so comforting I actually felt like it wasn't a big deal at all. I'm pretty low key with my hair and don't really know what to tell anyone who cuts it what to do with it. She knew exactly the best approach when it came to my hair. I felt like I've been going to her for years. Sye is a true gem. If you're in need of a good haircut please go to her. The best part about the whole thing is she wasn't a sales person. Today Khala and I had a braiding session. I am absolutely in love with the way she does hair. She's very thorough in explaining what braids will look good with what face/head shape you have. She explained everything she was doing and even showed me how to do some of the techniques at home. I also enjoyed how easily conversation was held with Khala. I didn't feel awkward or pressured to or not to talk with her. Khala was also there to answer any questions I had about my dead ends, what shampoo I should be using, etc.. Pretty irritated that I planned my whole day around getting my hair colored then the stylist nervously admitted she couldn't do the service. She already mixed the color and just said she couldn't give me what I wanted (basic blonde highlights) and walked me out. It was the worst salon experience I have had and I was only there for 5 minutes.
