We went here for our anniversary for dinner. The food, ambiance in the courtyard and service were all excellent. Our server was Bonnie and she made a lovely evening become outstanding!

Excellent Italian food! An upscale atmosphere with impeccable service located in West Vancouver along Marine Drive. We had the Cesar salad, veal piccata and wild boar pasta. The pasta was excellent and flavours delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner here and would recommend this restaurant.

Highly recommend this place! We have driven past it sooo many times over the years and finally I thought why don't we go here for my birthday. It was a last minute choice because I had booked Cardero's but we decided that we did not want to sit in traffic. This place is a taste of Italy for sure. Ken went above and beyond to make sure our experience was really good. He even sang me happy birthday which was a nice treat too. Right now they have a pasta special from Sunday's to Thursday's for $15 until the end of March. I have a feeling we may need to squeeze another session because can't go wrong!

Impeccable. Absolutely impeccable. Not sure on pricing, as we attended as a group, but I was unbelievably impressed. By far the second best (almost first) Italian restaurant I have ever tried. --- Food --- I enjoyed the Gnocchi with Beef Tenderloin. It was indescribably majestic. The beef was perfectly cooked as was the Gnocchi. --- Service --- The service was impeccable. Indescribably. Incredible. The servers knowledge of wine is fantastic, which suits those who truly enjoy the finer things in life. --- Overall --- If you have the wallet, the palate, the stomach, this is the place to eat Italian on the entire West Coast.

Do you want to know where you should go the next time you're craving delicious, fresh food, an authentic, romantic and classy environment with outstanding service and a flair you've probably never encountered? Hmmmm, I found just the place for you then. Mangia was a hit and a half for me and the wife last night. The specials flew flawlessly off our server's tongue and each item recommended had me sold. Tara is a master at her craft - sit in her section if you can. Eveything was perfect. Take your special someone out and do it right. This is the place...

Very cute mom and pop place The servers were fast and knew what they were doing. They had servers just for grating cheese and pepper and taking away plates and others just for taking your order Carpaccio (21) - we enjoyed the carpaccio. Not overly done with cheese or greens. Not too chewy either Prawns appetizer (22) - cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Could do with a little more vegetable Linguine vongole (26) - tasted like the sea. Noodles could have been less cooked but then again it depends on your audience. The clams tasted fresh and were sweet. Seafood pasta of the day (26)- had squid in it. Also tasted like the sea (in a good way). Pasta was the same as the one above except the toppings were different Arugula pizza (24) and Primavera pizza (24) - the pizza dough is obviously the same on both but both were delicious. Well cooked and chewy. The toppings were different. I preferred the meat one more just because I love proscuitto. Well balanced. Would recommend the pizza over the pasta Tiramisu (12.50) - pretty standard. Not overly sweet. Generous portion for the price. Wouldn't order it again Overall I thought the food was not bad and the service was pretty good. The seafood pasta flavours were something you can't make at home. The pizza was also good. This is a cute neighborhood joint. The prices are also good

Here's how it went down: I walked in off the street and the girl taking orders seemed totally overwhelmed. I asked how long for my order - 2 pastas and a bocconcini salad - and she said 30mins. I was about to say forget it but then she remembered pasta doesn't take so long - 15/20mins. Inevitably I ended up waiting 10mins to give my order, 35mins for food and, though it was good, they forgot my $9 salad. Didn't realize 'til I was home. She was snarky too when I'd come in to ask if my order was up, not remembering that I'd ordered anything. Hate it that restos don't take more pride and put someone with skill on their front line.

Not inspiring nor especially good, however. Service is uneven, but improving since they increased staff recently. I suppose it's largely lassitude that keeps us coming here. I was not sure if this was the right directions but we may not have chosen what our server/kitchen offered and was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our evening. My favourite was the watermelon salad, roasted mushroom salsa bianca pizza, rigatoni cacio e pepe, wagyu beef, and sole mio dessert. We immensely enjoyed our evening with flavourful food, great service and surrounded by a relating atmosphere. Each season, the menu rotates to reflect the local in season items. Came in last week with my boyfriend and his family. This was a beautifully done restaurant concept…read moreand menu by Elio Volpe. The restaurant feels warm and inviting, but stylish at the same time. After a previous mid experience at Savio, I was feeling uncertain about this place. However, our server did a fantastic job putting the family menu into play. For $89 per person, you do not have to think as the choices are made customized to every table's preferences. This is great for parties of 4 or larger as you can get a large variety of dishes that will 100% stuff you to the brim. For appetizers, we had the scallop crudo, house made roll, meatballs, and two selections of salads. The scallops were fresh and mouth watering paired with the buttermilk vinaigrette and serrano chilli crisps. On the opposite side of things, the house made roll was irresistible, soft and warm served with a side of their pecorino butter. The meatballs were a bit salty for my liking, but nonetheless wonderfully made. For greens, the watermelon salad was refreshing and delightful with a tiny kick of spice from the Calabrian chilli vinaigrette. Moving onto pizza and pasta, we were impressed with the selections made. The clam and guanciale pizza was a big surprise. We did not expect the flavours to interact so well. Each bite was savoury with a hint of lemon and parsley. I also loved the rigatoni cacio e pepe as it was flavourful and cheesy with a kick of jalapeño but not too heavy at the same time. The vodka pasta was unique due to their house shaped pasta which reminded me of a thick chopped up noodle. Finally, the grand finale was the branzino fish. It was very well done, deboned and stuffed with a variety of vegetables (caponata). It wasn't too salty and makes a good choice for the asian parents who like fish but not too much oil/salt. At this point, we were absolutely stuffed and had built up a portion of leftover pasta and fish. However, the show was not over yet. 3 separate desserts popped up on our table and we were very sad because there was no way we were finishing all of them. The pistachio gelato came from Dolce Amore and had lots of pistachios inside. Although we were so full at that point, we collectively agreed the tiramisu cheesecake was the star of the show. The warm and subtle peaches and cream was a pleasant end to our meal. I liked the little bit of texture from the popped seeds sprinkled on top. The family set meal allows for a good variety and value (calculated cost adds up to a free dessert). Our server joked that people had to be wheeled out after dinner because they were too full. I questioned whether it was a joke or not because I could barely walk or move after that dinner. I would definitely come back on a weekend to try their cocktails and other dishes. Thank you Elio Volpe for the delicious food and value!

Stopped by Nook on Denman Street for a casual Italian comfort food dinner…read more The Food The kitchen turns out straightforward, well-executed classics. We shared a pizza and the Rigatoni Boscaiola. The pizza crust had great leopard-spotting and a chewy, blistered edge, with the tomato sauce tasting bright and fresh rather than sugary. The rigatoni was cooked properly al dente, catching plenty of that savory, creamy mushroom-and-sausage sauce. It's thoroughly satisfying, though like many rich pasta dishes, the sauce leans on the heavier, saltier side toward the last few bites. We finished with a slice of their house tiramisu, which was airy, nicely soaked with espresso, and not overly sweet. The Service Lively, attentive, and down-to-earth. The staff handled the dinner rush smoothly, we were greeted warmly, menus were dropped right away, and wine recommendations were casual and honest. Even with a queue forming near the door, we never felt aggressively pushed out, though the pacing of the plates is definitely brisk. The Ambiance Snug, energetic, and very much a classic West End neighborhood joint. It's a tight room with warm lighting, rustic wood accents, and a bustling open kitchen/bar area that fills the space with good cooking aromas. Because tables are packed closely together, the noise level climbs quickly once the room fills up, so it feels more vibrant and buzz-y than quiet and intimate.
