Here we go, So many times I have pass by this little shopping mall and never once stopped and tried this place until my BFF mentioned it. So after going getting our feet done we decided to go to this restaurant. Great decision made. It was completely empty when we got in. The dinning area had just opened so we were the first to enter the dining area. The server name was Crystal. Very polite and helpful. The food was very fresh. Very good I might add. We started with the sliders which was meatball, eggplant and chicken. Amazing. I had ziti with meatballs and my friend had chicken parm. Overall the food was fresh and delicious. Came for my father-in-law's birthday and there were over a dozen of us. We entered through the front door which led to the counter and to the right was the dinning room. We had reservations and were seated immediately once we all arrived. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders, all were soft drinks. Then they gave us some bread , butter and Garlic Bread with Mozzarella - very nice! For my main course I ordered the Penna Fantastica, Penne pasta with chicken, broccoli, and sun-dried tomatoes in a garlic white wine sauce. It was awesome and a large portion. Could not finish and brought it home for another day and it was still very good. Everyone ordered different dishes, too many to mentioned and it seemed all enjoyed their meals. We had brought a birthday cake, they cut it up for us, served us coffee and then gave us some Zeppoles on the house. All the food was great, our waitress was sweet, polite and efficient. This is definitely one of our go to pizzerias. They make a great grandma pie. Also there chicken franchise pie is so good. When I'm in a hurry and close to home, they always have a great selection of pizzas to try their pinwheels and you have to go and try the Thanksgiving pizza. It's offered for a short period of time but definitely worth checking out. We've eaten in the restaurant quite a few times never had a bad meal. I've even hosted some celebrations like my son's graduation from high school. The wait staff our local kids and John and his wife trained them very well. You feel like you're home while there John does a lot for the community and I really appreciate that. He makes the experience at his restaurant a great one. If you need to plan a party here it's a great party room, and they make sure you and your guest are taken care of. They also have lots of tables for sit down for a quick slice. read more

First off this is not my first time eating here. I will NEVER give a place a one star review after trying it once. Everyone is entitled to an off day. This is my THIRD time coming here over the period of 5 years living in this neighborhood and THREE STRIKES YOURE OUT! I absolutely love pizza. It's my all time favorite food. I literally have a slice of pizza tattood on my arm. I know when a shop uses good ingredients, makes their own Sauce, uses quality cheese, quality dough. I know the ins and outs of the pizza game. Mangia is owned by the same people who own North Babylon Deli (which makes s great sandwich and provides great service). I dunno what happened but somehow the apple fell miles from the tree. Every ingredient on this slice is 100% purchased from a mass distributor. You are better off eating pizza at an ice hockey rink. The sauce is very generic with an almost sour taste. The cheese barely has any pull and remains in almost a shredded state as if it cake from a bag (because it's coming from a bag). I always say the rule is the closest pizza shop to your house or job is NEVER good. This holds true as I could throw a vortex football and land it square on the doorstep of Mangia. Take your 2.65 to Nonna Bella's, pizzaiola or even God forbid Mama Sbarro up the road. I dunno how a pizza place that is this terrible could exist on Long island which is Essentially "the land of quality pizza" I'll never make this mistake again and I hope my review saves someone else. read more

The quality of the pizza here has gone down - not sure if it's an impact from COVID. The cheese has more of the clumpy texture and just separates and slides right off from the actual pizza. You're pretty much just eating the cheese separately. Some of their other non pizza items are good - spaghetti and meat sauce - very generous on the meat sauce and the pasta is cooked al dente. read more

(Please note that this is a rewrite of a review I posted on 1/21/2014. There were a few errors in the original, but it seems that Yelp will not allow an edit, only an update. As such I trashed the original and reposted this revision.) This is one of well over a half dozen pizza places near my new house. When checking out a new pizza place, I typically order the penne alla vodka and garlic knots. They are my benchmark dishes, as it were. . . . Tale of the tape: Penne alla Vodka alla Donna Penne pasta with scallions, shallots, prosciutto de parma & vodka pink sauce. Though the sauce wasn't covering the top layer of pasta, a quick stir coated it quite well. There are some places whose pasta dishes lack enough sauce, while others have a bit too much. The amount here was just right. Unlike a lot of other places, the sauce had a decent amount of prosciutto, which greatly affects the flavor. They give you a rather large (10" long) loaf of Italian bread and a packet of parmesan cheese, whose use I recommend to liven up the dish. All things considered, I liked it enough to order it again. Garlic Knots I never buy garlic knots from any pizzeria unless I see them first. I look for a knot that has finely minced garlic in its nooks and crannies. I also note if the knot looks moist or appears dry. I have seen plenty which looked like twisted bits of pizza crust, dry and garlic-bereft! Here at Mangia the knots were larger than usual, nicely crusted with with minced garlic AND parsley. They weren't oily either - they had just enough oil to bind the garlic "mash." I asked for three of their most garlic-laden knots, a request they were more than happy to oblige. A bite of one on the way home revealed a light texture and an excellent garlic flavor, which is more pronounced when baked in a hot oven. Meatball Sliders On a subsequent visit I returned for more garlic knots and an order of their Meatball Sliders, which they make to order. Essentially they put one of their meatballs and a little bit of sauce inside a latitudinally sliced garlic knot. The result, when properly heated, is nothing short of amazing! The secret of their garlic knots and these sliders is that they use garlic-infused olive oil in their creation, which raises the garlic flavor to new heights! These sliders get my highest recommendation - even if the rest of their food were nothing to write home about, I would go out of my way to get the sliders alone! Conclusion I have returned many times over the years since I wrote the original review to sample more of their fare. As such, Mangia still stands as one of my favorite, go-to pizza places in the neighborhood. read more

I grew up in the neighborhood and had been going to Mangias since I was a child. As an adult, I found Mangia's pizza to be a bit doughy so I typically order elsewhere UNTIL my parents ordered there recently and it was amazing! I ordered there today because of that and it was doughy...again! We ordered pepperoni pizza, garlic knots, and a rice ball. The pizza was very flavorful, had maybe too much sauce because the cheese slid... right... off. So that was a little disappointing but it had a great taste. Also, the dough was thick and had a lot of moisture so it didn't have any crisp to it. I personally prefer a thinner, crisp slice. The rice ball was super crispy and overall very good. The star was definitely the garlic knots. If you're ordering from Mangia's, definitely get at least half a dozen. They're packed with chopped garlic and seasonings and super delicious. Mangia's is one of my favorite spots in the area. I'm gluten free so I don't enjoy their pizzas, but their salads never fail to hit the spot. After a different restaurant messed up my gluten free order by giving breaded chicken instead of grilled, I came to Mangia. They nailed a grilled chicken parm dish that I and my little niece loved. I havent been to this place in over 20 years. I went to North Babylon hs across the street so this place has sentimental value to me. I'm a plain slice kinda guy, bc I love to really taste the pizza. The slice folds over perfectly as it should. Its a thinner slice, but not saggy at all. All if that is done perfectly. For my own personal preference, I like the grease that comes off the cheese, and the crust itself lacks flavor. And sauce is also alittle bland. A fine pizza establishment. Although it is nothing out of the ordinary, the service is great and they accomplish everything a pizza place needs to. There is a wide selection of sodas and bottled beer, which is unique for this area. They don't have a great variety of speciality slices but they have the important types : buffalo chicken, salad, penne and Sicilian. They have a few special items like rice balls, empanadas, and fresh donuts. Not to mention their garlic knots are HUGE and doughy. If you want to sit down they have a all types of pastas and a few entrees. The menu does not show pricing, so I'm not sure if these are a good deal or not. There isn't a lot of choices in its immediate vicinity, so mangias it is. Keep in mind it is right next to a school, more on that later. Came here for lunch. Looked at the pizza selection - cheese was so old and congealed, looked like the slices were covered with white chocolate. Looked like the fondit cake boss uses to make his unbelievable creations. You could toss these slices in the oven on 500 degrees for an hour and it probably won't melt - the old cheese cross linking is too strong to break apart even at the highest temperatures of the sun. So I passed on the pizza and opted for a grill chicken sandwich. Order came pretty fast, paired it with a 20oz diet Pepsi. A Pepsi! Sandwich was mediocre at best - bread was at least a day old, salad, tomato and dressing was blah. The chicken was not well seasoned, seemed to be from last weeks stock pile (rubbery consistency). Not great, but I was so hungry that I annihilated it. Diet Pepsi is good, but coke is better. This difference is only discernible to the most particular of tastes. I know Now I mentioned before mangias is near a school. Must have finished so all these kids were pouring in. I don't mind that. What I did mind, was a rather portly young girl was there bearing her stomach. Now unless you're a new born infant, fat does not look good whether you're 14 or 40. She was wearing this cut shirt and her cholesterol bag was bulging out. I felt like puking in my napkin when I saw it, but like all things of uttermost disgust, I could not look away. I was mesmerized/perplexed/nauseated by the sight. That being said, I paid and the gentlemen taking my payment was probably one of the nicest guys in the world - very polite, asked me how everything was and thanked me for coming. I come here once in a while. I usually order pizza and garlic knots but I have ordered pasta and the chicken wrap in the past. The food is good and the prices are pretty steep. I just ordered a chicken and broccoli large pie with a chicken wrap and 6 mozzarella sticks. The total came out to be $40. The pizza was delicious but I would watch out for the price of your meal because it adds up quickly. They do have specials on some days of the week so I would take advantage of those. read more
