I live in Massapequa, so I only went to Gemelli's once for a hero. last night I experienced Gemelli's catering for my wife's retirement party. Now hear me out. My gluten-free. And requested a gluten-free meal well ahead of time. When we first got to our table, we were greeted by good looking who I thought was just the manager. My wife advised him that she is the gluten-free girl and he immediately said no problem. I have you we have your meal in the back. He walked around nonstop working the room. He was in and out of the kitchen in and bringing the table and every time he passed me, he smiled and said talking to this gentleman just to thank him for how hard I see him working. As the night went on, I started to realize maybe he's not just the manager. He's something larger as I saw him in charge of more than just the staff. He ran the entire place like a well oiled machine always professional kind and very friendly. My wife's meal came out hot and delicious. My entire family was there and we enjoyed all of the food we went up for seconds and even thirds. He waited on us and was constantly asking the rest of the people there if there was anything they needed. I asked for his card so I can write a review and contact his manager to tell him how wonderful he was. I also asked him where I a review about the food. He walked away and came back a few minutes later with his business card. His name was Vincent gave me his phone number and then underneath his number it states . I was quite established unknown restaurant was working so hard. He enjoyed what he was doing. He enjoyed talking to not only the staff, but everyone in the room. no wonder why this restaurant and caterer has done so well over the years. Made reservations for 5 for Sunday. I called to make the reservations. We arrived on Sunday at 4:30pm and there was a sign on the door saying they weren't open. The person I believe to be the owner came to the door and told us that workers had called in sick and they couldn't open. They had my phone number. They took it when I called to make the reservation so why was it too hard for them to call or send a text informing me that they would not be opening. I had to contact the other people in our party and we had to find another place to eat. Ridiculous! read more

Love this place. The place is pretty; the wait-staff are friendly and very good. Food is consistently excellent. Small but good wine list. Had the eggplant appy (special) and cavatelli with peas and asparagud tonight. Wife had the mussels appy and the sea bass special. sat by the fireplace while snow fell outside. Dined early on a Friday night with no wait. Waiter was pleasant and attentive. Basil martini was the best cocktail I've ever tasted. Veal Marsala and Seafood linguine were delicious. Tiramisu was delicious, as well. read more

Valentine's Day Dinner at Gemmelli's was very enjoyable, our 7:30 reservations worked out wonderfully ! We both enjoyed the Chicken Camponola which is Gemelli's Chicken Scarpiarello, it was very good however, a little stingy on the sausage ! It was cut into very small pieces which we thought didn't do the dish justice ! It was ver tasty and unlike many restaurants it was a tomato based sauce. The cappellini cakes were outstanding but not as good as the ones served at La Palma's. Tasty, served over a tasy vodka sauce ! Overall a very pleasant dinner and evening. read more

Sad to see businesses shootings themselves in the foot. Not a single review in 4 months. Well, we had a party of four tonight. We arrived at 6:30pm on this a Wednesday night. The place was empty and i wondered why. Not a single table was filled. I came to learn that it might be because people get "nickled and dimed" here for everything. Want a martini? OK, $12. want it dirty?...add an extra $3 for a splash of olive juice. Want blue cheese olives? OK, $3 for three olives. Now you're at $18. Ridiculous. Then came the tiny baked clams. Six for $14. Two veal cutlet dinners were $32 each. Barely any food on the plates. Then we found extra-charges on check for using a credit card. The four is us left hungry and agreed that we won't be back. The ghost town will be getting emptier as time passes. Life doesn't have to be so absurd! We just arrived home and cooked a real dinner. read more

Disappointed. Came for the first time as a guest for a rehearsal dinner and left unimpressed. Not only were food orders taken very late, the excuse was that everyone wasn't seated so they couldn't take the order..absolutely unacceptable. Because the food started so late, the entire party had to rush to make it to the church on time. This meant that no one could even enjoy dessert. The bride and groom-to-be barely had time to eat their entrees. Speaking of entrees, we were told that any item on the menu could be made gluten free which turned out not to be the case! The patrons with celiac disease were left with a dry salmon and a side of salad which was just served as a previous appetizer. Lemons were asked for but never arrived. I really wanted to like this spot but for causing such a special occasion to be unnecessarily stressful, it left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

This review is for desert, service and staff. Last month we were traveling with our best peeps thru Babylon Village going to another restaurant when we passed this beautiful building. The landscape was nice and the decorative lights got my attention. We all agreed that when we were done with dinner elsewhere we would visit Ristorante Gemelli . So keeping with the plan we entered this gorgeous restaurant and was greeted by the most pleasant classiest maitre d / hostess we've ever met. We told her we were only there for dessert but she treated us like we were spending a thousand bucks. She escorted us to the patio at our request and explained the desserts and gave us some tips. She was beyond helpful, a class act. ( terrible that I forgot her name)Even offered to take pictures of us. Thank you very much for your sincere hospitality. A true asset to this establishment! The patio was cozy, romantic and decorated nicely with flowers and quality furniture. Our desserts, coffee and tea arrived shortly and it was delightful. We really enjoyed this quiet time chatting and relaxing. When we were done Veronica and I took a short tour of the restaurant. Absolutely beautiful, elegant but not stuffy, spacious and clean. Review We had our daughter's baptism at Ristorante Gemelli's and exceptional is an understatement. From booking our event to the day of the party - the line of communication was fantastic and the effort George put in to make the day perfect proves exactly why this business has succeeded for the years it has. Firstly we arrived an HOUR early the day of the event ( this was my error) and George and his staff seamlessly rushed to get everything off the ground and running for almost 40 people. Without even a sweat they took it in stride and without a complaint being an HOUR early and staff not even on site yet- they had drinks served and apps out for our guests. Gusieppe was our waiter and he was absolutely phenomenal. The food was delicious and there are ZERO complaints from myself or any of my guests. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I look forward to using them in the future for all of our future parties and gatherings- even for a weekend dinner! read more

Selected Gemelli's for my birthday dinner over this past summer, and . . . well . . . One thing I was looking to try, which heavily influenced my choice to go here, was the octopus appetizer. To my great disappointment they didn't have it the day I was there . . . Tale of the tape: Table Bread with Olives & Garlic Cloves I usually don't comment on the bread a restaurant brings to the table, but I thought it merited a mention given its presentation. The bread itself was crusty and good enough, but the Olives & Garlic were served in one of those 1/2 lb containers that you get at any given deli! I couldn't believe it - such a high class place as Gemelli's (with prices commensurate of same) - serving the bread accompaniment in a plastic container seemed incongruous (see my picture). Pizza Margherita Hand-tossed grill-fired pizza, topped with fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, basil. This was quite good, and obviously freshly made. Arancini Arborio rice balls, over fresh tomato sauce with fresh melted mozzarella and crispy prosciutto. These were alright, though the presentation superseded their enjoyment. Caesar Romaine spears, Parmesan panko crouton crumble, sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, housemade Caesar dressing, Parmigiana Reggiano. Enjoyable, and thankfully not drowning in dressing. Veal Saltimboca Top round veal scaloppini served in a prosciutto, sage, white wine demi, served over wilted baby spinach and potato croquette. For what veal is supposed to be, it had an uncharacteristically tough texture. On the tender - tough scale, I'd put the needle of that scale way over on the tough side. It'd been a long time since I had veal, and frankly I was disappointed. The potato croquette and the spinach were fine, just nothing special. Reserve Center Cut Pork Chop Spice-rubbed grilled pork chop with Spinach and Asparagus Spears. My brother got this, and he ate the whole piece. I sampled it, and it was very tender, and had a great flavor all its own. Whew. Another aspect of eating at Gemelli's was the amount of time it took between the courses. As I see from my photo timestamps, it was 20 minutes between the appetizers and the salads, and 35 minutes between the salads and the main course. The latter time could be due to the thickness of the pork chop, so your mileage may vary. Conclusion I was looking forward to Gemelli's, but the absence of the octopus from the appetizer menu that night was the first in a series of disappointments. I don't know if I will eat there again, but I will definitely continue to patronize their Italian deli, located a block West on the same (North) side of East Main Street. (For two, their pesto ravioli and vodka sauce are decently good). read more

We visited Gemelli's yesterday strictly unplanned,and it was wonderful The Restaurant itself is laid out so well and comfortable for whatever you feel like. A nice bar with a T'v ( we watched the Belmont) a busy and nice out door venue and a fairly large dinning room. We both had Veal dish's and the Veal was delicious and tender, as were the Croquet and sauteed spinach. For dessert we had I guess an Italian Tart tar tin it was excellent. Our waiter was Guiseppie who happened to be personal as well as professional. The only downside for me is they charge for using a credit card, which doesn't match all the above. I say to all, stop taxing the consumer especially with the high prices we pay for everything to begin with. I usually don't go back to place's that charge for the use of a credit card, but do make two exceptions and Gemelli's was exceptional so 'll do here as well. read more

Used to go there years ago when the food was good. 10 years ago you couldn't get a reservation on a Saturday night. Ordered a gin & tonic. They charge Xtra for tonic. Are you kidding? It's a mixed drink. Appetizers were small. Portions small. I ordered veal saltomboca. 2 very small pieces of veal, uncooked spinach & 1 potato Crockett. My brother & sister both got fish special. They both said not that good. Very very salty. My brother-in-law got sausage, pasta ragu. Pasta was hard & sausage was ground up. Not much either. Horrible, horrible. Must be new owner from 8 to 10 years ago. Don't eat there. Very disapointing!! read more

My husband and I went here a while ago and the food was amazing! I love the fact that when you walk in, it's not to the dining area. It's to a bar. The bar and the dining area are well lit. Natural light came in during the day, and it was still lit well when the night came. The decoration looks like it belongs in Italy. I love how everything is arranged! He had the short rib pasta bolognese and he loved it! It was their new lunch menu and whenever I mention we went here, he still rants and raves about the dish. I had the gnocchi and I loved it. We had brought my family here for my brothers birthday and he loved it too. I forgot what everyone has the second time around but the service and food was great and I would totally come back to try more dishes on the menu and bring more people to eat their food. read more

We have often enjoyed dining at this restaurant, but it has been at least five years since we had finally returned. The restaurant's rustic Tuscan ambience seem to be the same as I remember it in the past. Also, it's intimate bar area as you walk into the restaurant was as friendly and active as I remember it. We were a party of eight which can be challenging if you have any intension of having conversations in a busy restaurant. But luckily for us the restaurant was not crowded. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and a pleasure to have at our table. As far as the menu options, there were some interesting specials that included pasta and seafood, but I chose the Sword fish which seem to be a regular menu item. Others ordered the bronzino and lamb chops. My dinner was very good, but I believe the lamb chops and bronzino were the bigger hits at our table. After dinner, we enjoyed coffee and desert and found ourselves in conversations that lasted to almost closing time. Or better yet, the restaurant staff was very accommodating to us since it was getting late and I am sure about the time to close. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner over the weekend and it was the best decision. From the minute you walk in the door Gemelli's gives you a great experience. We were warmly greeted and sat as soon as we arrived. The decor here is amazing and one of my favorite things. As soon as you walk in it feels like you have been transported somewhere new. We started with the rice balls as an appetizer, which we really enjoyed. For dinner we had the bolognese and the rigatoni alla grappa. Both were amazing!! The flavors of the sauce were delicious and came out perfectly hot. The service was great, our server was so nice and attentive and all of our food came out fast. Honestly the food was good, not great. The one thing that got me was there was literally one waiter working all the tables as well as at the bar. How, on a Friday night can you only have one waiter? Because of that it lacked attention to our table as well as, I sure, the other tables. It took some time to get our dinner and by the time the waiter came over to offer us a dessert menu, we were turned off because it too so long. I called to see if it was possible if I can bring my dog and my friend with her dog for outside dining and the owner was so nice he said of course. My friend and I had a delicious dinner tonight, inwhich we split the main course and the chef gave us a little extra on the house..The bus boy was so nice talking to me about dogs and even brought out water to make sure our dogs was comfortable.. The food was delicious we had an appetizer, a salad and a pasta dish and everything was perfect. This small business really truly appreciate its customers. This restaurant has been open for 18 years, and this is the first time I've ever heard of it. First I want to thank Yelp, because without this app I would never find all these fabulous places to do what I love to do... And that is dine! Spinach salad with sliced avocado, bacon, and a side order of rigatoni bolognese (pork ,beef, and veal) sauce, so homemade! We had two veal dishes, veal saltimbocca, veal chop Milanese( pounded on the bone). Both veal so tender, melted in your mouth. As I said earlier this is home cooking at its best. Ernesto was our waiter, and what a great guy. Funny at times and a true professional. He has been here since they opened 18 years ago and I noticed as the other tables started to fill Ernesto was hugged by all. Great wine list, very unique martini list... Never heard of a cannoli martini... Have to try it next time around. Visit Date: June 10, 2016 Came here with hubby for a romantic dinner that turned out to be a little weird. I was a little upset about that because I've been wanting to try this restaurant forever. It is a good restaurant but it's meant to be a place you will spend a few hours in, drinking some wine or other drinks and eating your meal very slowly. Because we didn't have any drinks with our dinner we did not enjoy the languishing over our meal that we were supposed to enjoy. For an appetizer I had the pizza which was great. But I had to pick prosciutto off of it because I'm a vegetarian and didn't realize they topped it with prosciutto. I'm not sure if they mentioned that in the menu and I just didn't notice. I didn't get mad at them though I just picked it off and hubby ate it. For our main course he chose the salmon and I chose the rolled lasagna with spinach. It took a long time for our main course to arrive and hubby started to get mad. He's not friendly when he's hungry. When our main course came out he just wanted the check. So we asked for it. The manager did come by to see if we were okay and if everything was good so he did try to speak to us to find out about the slight disappointment but hubby just wanted to settle the check, eat up his main course and leave. The food was good I did enjoy it very much, the tomato sauce on the rolled lasagna tasted like fresh tomatoes.
