Mango mango is the very definition of "treat." Maybe a once per month place since the menu, while large, has a bit of redundancy. Also, expect to spend an average of $7 to $10 per person. Young modern decor with young modern staff. It's the kind of place where young modern folks go after dinner or after work to have a talk. Unfortunately, the dining space isn't very large so on a busy night, you might be waiting 30+ minutes just for a table. Wherever they source their mango, it's done right as mango is the star of the show. Fancy "pastries" are very good but the ice cream or pudding sundae/parfaits shine brightest. Smooth, fruity, and not overly sweet, well balanced with sago or jellies........these desserts are flavorful yet subtle. So a whole dessert shop centered around the magnificent mango? Yes please. - Mango juice with mango chunks and lychee jelly. Perfect for a blistering summer day. (And every day.) - Snow white juice with green tea ice cream, red bean, and rice balls. Is there a more Asian dessert? Possibly not. Really nice blend of textures - my favorites were the chewy rice balls. By the way, each of these desserts is around $8-9 so by no means cheap but they do fill up the plates to heaping. - Also ordered the hot black sesame paste soup with peanut mochi. Brought me immediately back to childhood. Mango mango's version is probably a little less "authentic" than other places in Chinatown - it's a lot thicker and sweeter, which is to say, exactly how I like it. I think "chun" sesame paste soup is runnier and more bitter, with more of the sesame flavor, but I absolutely loved this. Plenty of seating with both upstairs and downstairs tables. One of my favorite dessert places to go in Chinatown- sweet/fresh/delicious! Whenever I visit, I love to get the A5. Strawberry Mango Juice Sago Lychee Jelly with Mango Ice Cream! It is extremely well balanced in my opinion, since I don't love super sweet desserts. The mango juice is refreshing, the mangoes+strawberries are fresh/crisp, and the rice ball (in place of the lychee jelly) adds a perfect chewy texture. The mango ice cream, to complement the dessert, is perfectly creamy and not at all overpowering. I wish the sago had a bit more texture since I'm used to a chewier feel- it tended to give very easily- but that's up to preference. The price is a little high in my opinion though. One dessert took a bit longer 20 minutes and I wish the customer service was more composed but understandable for a busy Saturday night. I like this place but feel they should update their online presence in the maps. We showed up with our puppy in a carrier because it says pets welcome online. This is not true and mistake on their part. But what was even worse was the servers reaction to seeing us and our pet was as if he was disgusted. There is a Mango Mango in our home city, but we stopped by the Philly location on a trip. Faithful to their name, their mangoes were quite good, and they were generous with the portions. I love the big chunks. The minus is we found a piece of plastic in one of our desserts. The plastic seems to have been from a scrubbing tool or maybe a piece of packaging for the fruits. In either case, we notified the staff and they immediately apologized and replaced/comped the item. We would have rather paid full price for a dessert with no mystery plastic piece, but their actions to remedy the issue was above and beyond at this price point.
