Again, I couldn't care less, but others may. The samosa was delicious. Excellent flavor and texture. The mango lassi I had was also excellent. Decided to give this place a try after being told about how there is good Indian food in Spokane. Lucky for me, it was only a few minutes away from where I was working, and just a few minutes away from where I was staying. Service was friendly and ambiance was a place you could take someone out for a date. I ordered a Chicken Biryani and was surprised to see that there was an option for.....chicken tikka.....poutine?!?! This was a curveball and I decided to try the chicken tikka poutine. I will have to say prices are pretty standard for an Indian place. Otherwise, the chicken biryani was not bad but the raita was not to my standard. And the second time they didn't even give me a raita at all. Pretty sloppy. Subsequently, the chicken tikka poutine tasted like fries with chicken tikka curry and chicken. Honestly, it wasn't anything special. Just fries with chicken tikka gravy. Aloo tikki was lacking flavour and was on the blander side They also did something that really bugs me which is when a restaurant asks you how spicy want your food and you tell them you want it to be extremely spicy and they put absolutely no spice in it at all. Seriously, if you're not going to accommodate spice level, then just stop asking, stop wasting my time and giving me something to look forward to. Plenty of seating with really good portion sizes! Also, the naan was some of the best I've ever had along with the butter chicken! I wasn't a fan of the rice (it was kinda dry), but it's fine since the naan stole the show. I would definitely get this again if I'm back in Spokane! read more

I didn't expect to find such a good Indian place in Spokane. For a change I liked veg options better than non veg. We had paneer karahi and veggie kofta for vegetarian curried and Butter Chicken and Coconut Chicken Curry for non veg options. Both the chicken curries were good but pretty sweet. However the veg food was perfect. The veggie kofta here is definitely one of the best kofta I've had. Apart from that I definitely recommend Salt Lassi - very nice seasoning with black salt. It's been 2 years since my last visit and I still feel the same about their food. Price has gone up like most places. I tried their butter chicken poutine for the first time and it was delicious. Then I suddenly remembered I was at an Indian restaurant and my Indian friend commented "They essentially pour their butter chicken on some fries." Although it was very Americanized, I still highly recommend this appetizer. I forgot what spicy level I picked 2 years ago and went with level 4 this time, but it wasn't spicy at all. My friend's level 1 tasted spicier than my level 4 and she couldn't handle it. We thought they probably got our spicy levels switched so they took our food back to the kitchen to fix it. However, they still tasted the same after. I think it could be due to different types of curry used. The waitress was considerate and gave some yogurt to my friend to balance the spice. I also requested extra spicy sauce but my food was still not spicy after I poured the whole thing in, which is another characteristic of Americanized (Indian) food. I really enjoyed their basmati rice but my curry bowl came with white rice this time. The portion didn't get increased with the price, still small. Naan was super filling and was the main reason I got full, which was exactly what I said 2 years ago. Despite being Americanized, the food was still good and the service we received was great. All I can say is YUM! Such delicious dishes. My favorites are the Yellow Curry and Butter Chicken, always with basmati rice. And the naan. The naan is absolute heaven. Ambiance We walked inside the doors to this dark, oddly decorated restaurant full of excitement as this was our first time trying the food. Inside it looks a bit awkwardly spaced out and at the time it was empty but there were people sitting outside so we opted to sit outside. They told us they would meet us out there so we went to sit outside. When we went in the patio area there was a man sitting at a table alone and on the opposite end there was a table of four people eating and one empty table in the middle of them. We sat at this table. I noticed that the group of people were looking at the man sitting at the table alone. Then later on a waiter comes by and asks the man what he would like to have (but he didn't walk directly to the man, he yelled it from across all three tables), even though no one had given the man a menu. The man said "Just choose something good for me." The waiter said alright and went inside. He came back out shortly to check on the group of people and says to the group of people, "how much do you want to bet he isn't going to pay for his food.". THE WAITER SAYS THIS TO CUSTOMERS. I was shocked. The man brought him out some food and it was uncomfortable because everyone at the table next to us was legit staring at the man sitting at the table alone. He was behind me so I did not stare at this man but naturally I could see and sense the group of people looking at this man eat. This man was hungry. My partner (who was in his eyeline) later said that he ate all of his food.. then the man sitting alone at the table asked AND PAID for his bill. ***Sidenote: Before I continue I just like to say that I fully intended to pay this man's bill if he could not pay for it himself. No one, I mean no one should have to be hungry. and also businesses shouldn't have to deal with losing money from someone not paying. However, this waiter knew he would have to deliver food to this man REGARDLESS, so instead of passive aggressively commenting and complaining TO OTHER CUSTOMERS, maybe this waiter should have just given him food like he would have to do anyway and waited until after this customer pays or not pays. Instead this waiter treated this man disrespectfully and with a huge amount of bias. I also understand that it's hard for businesses to struggle with houseless individuals when they are just trying to do their jobs, but treating someone as less than before they do anything at all to you is just plain judgement and it's pretty ugly. **** Aside from this uncomfortable experience our waiter (a different waiter) forgot to bring us a number of things and was pretty scatterbrained but kind none-the-less. Food: My partner got the butter chicken pizza and that was SO GOOD. The chicken pizza was so yummy and the amount of cheese was extra, which i love. I got the paneer tikki masala and I would give it a 2/5. I think they didn't cooked, marinate, or sauté the paneer at all so it was really soft and not very flavored. The garlic naan was really good though 5/5. Overall I probably won't come back to this place. Ambiance: when you walk in it's not anything spectacular. The decor is actually a little scattered and bland, but what the decor lacks the food makes up for in flavor. Food: We went for a business dinner this week with some vendors from out of town. Two of them were from India and wanted to try a local Indian place. We were not disappointed! We tried the following items: Platter - that included Samosas, chicken wings, veggie pakoras, chicken pakoras, paneer pakoras, and naan bread served with butter sauce for dipping. Everything was delicious. The sauces included for the wings were amazing. Everything had so much flavor. Curry chicken (1 & 4 spice) - yum! It was so good. The flavor was on point and delicious. I am salivating just thinking about it. Tikki Masala with Chicken & Paneer (3 & 4 Spice) - just like the curry this dish was so flavorful and delicious. Everyone loved it! Karahi with Chicken (4 Spice) - funny story half our party had originally chose the mixed grill and then one of the people who joined us that was Indian chose this, then the waitress who was also Indian said it was her favorite, and then everyone who had chosen the Mixed Plate changed their order to this. No one was disappointed. The flavor - I keep going back to it, but it's SO GOOD. The four on this dish did seem to be much hotter than the other though - so buyer beware! Vindaloo with Lamb (4 Spice) - Just like the other dishes this was a hit. Flavor was on point and the presentation was great. Naan - we got the garlic, jalapeño, and coconut naan. They were all so good. The coconut especially was a fun surprise! The sweetness of it mixed with the spicy dish was fantastic. Service: The service was great. I will say it was a little slow at first, but we were a party of 9 and we only had one server. She was kind, and attentive as we needed. She knew we all wanted to try the different dishes and served the meals family style so we could try each. Also, when people started changing their orders it got super confusing and we all kind of got lost. Instead of getting impatient or frustrated, she laughed and helped. It was fantastic. I travel a lot for work and I was looking around for something affordable to eat. I happened to stumble across The Mango Tree while doing my internet searches of restaurants close to the hotel I was staying at. Typically I read the reviews before I make my decision about a restaurant, but I had not had Indian food in quite some time that I decided to give it a try without reading any reviews. The Mango Tree was about a 10 min walk from the hotel. When I arrived the aromas permeating the air made my tummy rumble. I looked around and saw they had many awards for the Best Indian Food and I was super excited to try. There were so many different things that I wanted to try, but couldn't make up my mind; I narrowed it down to 4 options and asked the hostess what he would recommend out of the 4 choices. He suggested the chicken curry; I made my decision based upon his recommendation. I love spicy food and asked him if it was spicy. He stated it comes in levels 1-5 with 3 being considered a medium spicy, I decided to go with the 4 spice level. The chicken curry came with basmati rice and naan. The hostess also recommended the garlic flavor of naan. After ordering I was told it would be about a 15 min wait, I decided to take a stroll around the area and when I returned my food was ready to go. I still had a 10 min walk back to the hotel and my feet couldn't move fast enough. I finally arrived back to the hotel and started stuffing my face!!! MY OH MY the food was absolutely FANTASTIC. Even after the walk, my food was still hot. The flavors of the chicken curry were on point, along with the spice level (next time I will try the 5), the basmati rice was fluffy and the garlic naan was flavorful. I definitely recommend this place if you live or if you are just visiting Spokane. Although I did not eat at the restaurant the ambiance had a nice feel to it. The hostess Keyser was very helpful and kind and kindness goes a long way with me. This place is a must if you are looking for some tasty Indian food. I did a little happy dance while I ate my food! Delicious Indian food. Get the marsala-or something close to that-fries if they have them, they are perfectly fried and come with an amazing sweet mango sauce. If you're there during the Inlander Restaurant Week, try the three-course menu option. I would recommend the three-curry option for a second course. It is an excellent way to try multiple curries, and all are delicious. The gulab jamun are lightly fried, cardamon donut holes in a honey-cardamom syrup, and are very good. The mango lassi was sweet, creamy,very mango-y and absolutely delicious. Our waitress was nice, thoughtful, and friendly. Would go again. Mango tree was right across our hotel and we went here on the first evening we landed in Spokane. It was cold and rainy so we wanted something close by and what better comfort food than a hot curry and naan. The hostess and the server were super friendly and gave a coloring sheet to the kiddo. We ordered shahi paneer and that comes with naan and rice. In Bay area, i have never seen an indian restaurant include rice and naan with the entree. There was a kids menu too. Again, kind of rare in Indian restaurant. We ordered cheese naan from kids menu and that came with a drink and icecream. Kiddo opted for chocolate milk.. they were out of vanilla and chocolate icecream so they gave her mango sorbet instead but she was happy. The food was good. We had asked for spice level 4. The spice came from red chili powder and clove so the shahi paneer was hot but not the good kind of spicy that you expect in Indian food. Nevertheless, it was not bad. The naan was great and so was the rice. This was not the best Indian restaurant, but overall it was a good one and one I would go to if i am back in spokane. I ordered take out so there is nothing dealing with customer service or staff. I will say that the door-dash ordering process was smooth and easy. Their online menu was not clear that rice came with all dishes and instead of 3 orders of rice I ended up with 6 orders of rice for 3 entrees. The food: We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, tandoori chicken, vegetable curry, and garlic naan. The Tikka Masala was smooth and creamy with an ample amount of heat. I always order as hot as they have on the menu - and usually am left wondering if they added spice at all - not true here. It wasn't too hot, but it was easy to taste the spice in the dish but wasn't distracting. We would definitely order this again. The vegetable curry was bright, the taste of the fresh vegetables used in the dish were easily noticed. The curry was enough but didn't overwhelm. All in all the vegetable curry was among my top 3 for similar dishes. The garlic naan was ok - it was dry and needed a sauce to dip it in. The garlic was underrepresented and seemed both dry and oily at the same time. I make it sound bad - it wasn't - but it wasn't the light, almost crisp, flavorful naan I am used to. It was ok - good even when using it for dipping. The tandoori chicken was the weakest dish of the three. It came in a sauce that was oily (it had separated and floated in pools), the flavor was ok but lacked a lot of the strong citrus overtones I am used to, there could have been more onions and the chicken (breast) was almost dry but not quite. It wasn't a bad dish - but would not order it again. I am looking forward to trying more dishes my next trip through Spokane - all in all a pleasant experience with good food. read more

The food here is amazing! Full of flavor and perfect portions. We ordered chicken palak, kid's coconut curry, kid's butter chicken, and a mixed grill. The garlic naan bread was fresh and perfectly crisp and soft around the edge. The basmati rice Was nice and fluffy. My kids really loved their meals! Usually when we order Indian food, the kids meals come spicy even if you ask for none, but this place served their meals full of flavor and not spicy. The meat was cooked perfectly and tender. We ordered 2 glasses of merlot also. Four delicious meals and 2 glasses of wine with tax came up to only $65. Very good food at a great price.
