The food is not bad but the service could be more attentive for a buffet set up. We arrived at 12:45 on a Friday for the lunch buffet, which ends at 2pm, and joined the two other tables with people in the buffet area. We were excited about the classic entree options (e.g. papadum, naan, rice, korma, tandori chicken, vegetable curry, potato curry, and tofu curry), but disappointed to find there was little actual food in the chafer dishes and no one replenished the food while we were there, so we had to share the one piece of tandori chicken and the two pieces of dried out naan. Despite the lids of the chafer dishes (very cool looking but heavy!) being super hot to the touch, the curries were not too hot themselves. But they tasted good overall, just wish they were hotter and there was more of it to enjoy for $16 per person! read more

All dishes good but the server was indifferent, didn't answer our questions very well about certain dishes, brought the bill before I even asked for it and stood there assuming we would dig our wallets out and pay right then. Which we did when his continued presence made us feel so uncomfortable! I asked them if they always did this and he took offense and told me all restaurants deliver the bill this way!!!! Oh my I love their food, but we had a poor experience early on a Friday dinner. We had a $100 gift card and ordered a few things more than we would. Like all other places they are not inexpensive, but when it was time to pay we were told the gift card machine didn't work! Okay, we can cover the bill, but what if it was some young family who couldn't? And if they didn't have the money to pay then what? This was not good. We were told our gift card was still valid, but what if it happens next time we go? Their paneer tikka masala (mild) was absolutely delicious. Highly swear by their homestyle gravy, it tasted like a rich hand squashed tomato bisque but like Indian flavor profile. Naans were light and airy. Personally found the chicken pokrika?! Or whatever that dish was called a little too sweet... for my liking but the paneer tikka masala was the best I have ever had. Taking a star away because of their styrofoam take out containers and mango lassi which looks startlingly unhealthy... like Yellow #5 was poured liberally into a cup. The lassi was a shame because their gravy was so homemade and real... missed opportunity - just make it with real frozen mangoes instead! read more

We tried their new lunch buffet. It's Tues-Fri from 11-2:30 for $15.99. We arrived at about 1p and were the only diners at first. The buffet items were lukewarm, not hot. The salad and coleslaw were not good. For me, the flavors of the "hot" items were good. My hubby likes his food spicy, and none of the food had that kind of heat. It was all very mild. I went back a second time and unfortunately the food was not at the same caliber as my first visit. The service was still friendly and fast. I even got the same dish, the mixed grill, and depending on which meat it was either dry or mushy. Like it was sitting in a marinade for way too long. Just tried Karma Indian Cuisine for the first time and unfortunately it will be the last time I placed a rather large and diversified order across the menu for pick up. I was handed one bag and had to ask if there was another, which was sitting right on the counter next to the first one. Almost left with only half the order if I would not have asked. This is not even close to authentic, lacking the wonderful spices and rich flavor that keeps us all going back for the real thing. If you love real Indian food, you will want to skip this place. Try it and you'll know exactly what I'm saying. Hopefully there is a place in the Spokane area that does it right. The butter chicken not good, the tomato based dishes are gross, I don't even know where they came up with these. The land in the dishes was really not bad as far as tenderness and the lamb kabob meat a good, it was the mixing it in a dish with what tasted like pickled zucchini and other cold vegetables was strange. The rice was good, had a couple variations but the garlic naan was flavorless, I'm not sure it was garlic with the exception that's what I ordered. Our family is/are no strangers to this family. Wenatchee, Moscow ID, Post Falls, and now Spokane. We love their recipes for Indian fare, and are thrilled they expanded to a location that is closer to our home. The building is old and worn, but they have cleaned it up, yet kept a dark and warm ambiance that goes well for the savory flavors of this cuisine. Good to see familiar faces (owners) getting everything set up here for a long run of masala magic. My wife and I were so excited, To try new Indian fare. We left our house with a skip, And decided level 5 spicy... we dare. Walking in, we thought, "Is this a bar?" But the smell of cardamom, reassured us from afar. The butter chicken was bright and tender, The saag paneer a flavorful splendor. The naan was soft and crispy too. Making us one happy little crew. Outstanding food! Don't let the outside of the building scare you off. VERY nice inside with cozy fireplace at north end of dining room. I'm a huge fan of Vegetable Samosas but haven't found any good ones in Spokane until now: obviously handmade with a lovely tender crust but sturdy enough to hold the savory filling. Served with two (too small) containers of tamarind & mint sauces. Really liked the Mango Curry with chicken except it would have been nice to have some chunks of mango. It was blended into the sauce apparently. Garlic Naan was also delicious but the pickled mango & lemon was not for me. Definitely a great addition to Spokane! read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant right now. I've eaten here several times and it has been consistently fantastic every single time. The ambiance is great, the service is very good, and the food is just amazing. My favorite dish is the chicken Nirvana, its a curry type dish with coconut milk in it. Most of the dishes come with the option of chicken, beef, lamb, or vegetarian. You order your dish with a spice level you'd like, on a scale of 1 through 5. I usually get a three. I get it with garlic naan and tandoori roti. It's amazing every time. For dessert I like to get the gulab jamun. Its a small dish with these little balls of fried dough, vaguely reminiscent of donut holes. The dish is full of a sweet syrup that they soak in and are dusted with crushed pistachio. Its a really interesting dessert because it has its sweetness, but its also surprisingly savory, with a really nice cardamom flavor. When I first tried it, I wasn't quite sure what to think of it, but now I find myself craving it occasionally, it is so good. I highly recommend Karma if you're in Spokane, or India House over in Post Falls if you're in Idaho, they are owned and run by the same people and both equally good, I've eaten at both restaurants at least half a dozen times. read more

Best food I've had in a long time! They have a wide selection of dishes. They have meat dishes and vegetarian friendly dishes. I love the mushroom masala, tofu dishes, and all the appetizers are great too! They also have an all you can eat buffet! Just call and ask what days they are doing it. I went on a Friday and it was cool to be able to try lots of new dishes and they also make all their food fresh with fresh ingredients! I never had Indian food that was this authentic and delicious! 10 out of then! Also the atmosphere is great. Seats many people and classy inside. Also has a bar inside. They have everything you could want for a good experience. I can't wait to bring my family and friends here. I have gone here everyday this week. The best part is that it is affordable and delicious and not over priced. They waiters are also wonderful and very attentive. It's very family friendly and the vibe is great. This was my first visit to Karma Indian Cuisine. Everything was absolutely delightful. The Palak Paneer was my pick and it was one of the best I've ever had. It had more spinach texture than most I've had (which I liked!) and was very flavorful. We had a choice of spiciness. Although not what I'd usually do, I went with mild. I wanted to be able to share and my daughter who does not do spicy. The Samosas come as is and, although large and appetizing, they were definitely on the spicy side. The Butter Naan was generous and cooked to perfection. We were all full but took Rice Pudding to go. I didn't get to mine until the next day and it was still creamy and delicious. I will certainly return when I'm in Spokane! The building is nondescript on the exterior but the inside is clean, cozy and inviting. I highly recommend dining here! read more

Group of 8 on a Tuesday night at 6ish. There were only two other tables and there were several servers, so not busy at all. The host? seemed unsure if they could handle us but a server shoved 3 tables together and it was quite easy. There' is a bit of a problem though, as they have a full bar but nobody knows how to make drinks. We just ordered beer and wine to make it easy. We had 2 naan as an appetizer. One plain and one garlic. They were steaming hot and very good. Someone who is not a fan of Indian food ordered the house salad and plain naan. It was fine but the Italian dressing had little flavor. Tandoori Chicken was wonderful (2 people ordered it)', Biryani rice dish was flavorful, Chicken Tikka Masala was great, Butter Chicken was good just not sure why it was so dark, Mixed Grill was perfect for someone who had never eaten Indian food before. They served lots of fluffy rice separately. Still puzzled why there are no condiments served with the naan. And a 2 teaspoon side of mango chutney is $3.99! My wife and ate dinner here Saturday 2/24/24. The food was decent, but the service staff was SUPER SHADY. I'd like to add that I am a life long service industry worker and am very respectful and forgiving when eating out. We ate two entres and I ordered one beer. When the server ran my card he asked if I wanted a receipt. I said yes (this was being paid for by my company), and he rolled his eyes at me. He took very long to print the receipt, and when he gave to to me our bill was $105. It should have been $45. I brought this to server's attention and he acknowledged the mistake. He decided to hand me a $20 bill and told me that should cover the difference. I asked him to cancel the transaction and re-run the correct amount, and he REFUSED to do it. After much arguing with the server, he gave me $40 cash back and then completely ignored us until we left. I told them I did not want cash back and I wanted the transaction reprocessed correctly. We were completely ignored, and we were still shorted $20 and they kept the $17 tip from the credit card transaction. I called the restaurant today to speak with a manager before writing this review. I was told there was no manager and was hung up on. I feel like the server DELIBERATELY stole money from me. I'm so excited Karma Indian Cuisine is here! The food is amazing and I'll keep coming back again and again. I'd love to encourage the owners to use less aromatic cleaners as it overpowered our seating area and overwhelmed the beautiful scent from the kitchen. I'd also like to mention that the description for ramsalai on the menu isn't what arrives at the table. We were excited about what the menu described as dough balls fried "golden brown" with a sweet milk over it and topped with chopped almonds and pistachios. We got what the internet described to us later as "a Classic Indian dessert consisting of juicy cheese discs served with thickened milk." Others might want to be forewarned they ordered "juicy cheese discs" and not something akin to a donut ;) The staff was lovely but insisted the description matched the item, and I promise cottage cheese (paneer) mounds and donuts aren't similar (in color, texture, or taste). They were gracious and understanding when we weren't super excited about what arrived at the table. All that said, I'll be back. The spice levels were spot on and the portions are plentiful. The food was good. Let's start by saying that. The ambiance was good as well. But service which almost all Indian restaurants seem to lack was the problem. Just some simple changes would be huge. For example, "listen". If I say we are three don't repeatedly ask if we are four. If we say we need two small and one large to go boxes don't bring the opposite. Don't seat us and then ignore us for 10 minutes. If we order an appetizer don't bring it with the main meal. Serve drinks and appetizers together and then when your customers finish that bring out the main meal. These are really simple things that could be addressed through training. Upon arriving, we asked the server for recommendations and (though I am used to garbage service) our server was amazing and well-versed with the menu. She made great recommendations and checked in regularly. I ordered the lamb tikka masala and chicken poprika (and of course garlic naan) and both were amazing.
