Mangrove mikes is a MUST STOP. Open daily from 0600-1400 they are a great place to pick up a sub for a day on the boat or to soak up that alcohol with a savory brunch. I love places that incorporate local foods into the menu. I had the blue crab omelet. Another couple had the hogfish omelet. There was also a few specials including a pumpkin French toast that was amazing. The coffee and water were always being refreshed and the staff were awesome. Pro-tip: they have a small parking lot. There's a cute souvenir shop next door too. :) read more

Thanks for the response. We asked to be moved from under the vent and the cold metal chairs. It was suggested that we go outside to warm up until our order was ready. There were other tables open we could have been moved to. They also suggested I buy a souvenir with long sleeves to keep us warm. My comment was not to offend you, just telling future guests it's cold. Food was decent but staff is rude. read more

Just a note for those who it matters they do require a mask. Yelp gave good reviews so we stopped on the way to key west. With four in our group we had a little of everything on the menu. Eggs were good, bacon overdone, sausage links and patties decent, pancakes and waffles were blech. What I found frustrating was the ala carte pricing. Pancake was 3.49, waffle was 10.00. Coffee 3.49. A mediocre breakfast costing $50. On a positive note waitress was very nice. read more

Staff was very friendly and breakfast food was good. I just thought that people were sitting a little too close for comfort given that we went in March 2021 when the pandemic was still at its height and vaccines weren't yet available for everyone. We had to follow up with the waitress a few times. But all in all, I really like the vibe of its place. It makes me happy to see small businesses doing well during this difficult time. When we got inside there was a 15 min wait. While we waited for an open table, we cruised through the attached shop that had art/painting/framed pictures and random key west items. The couple has been doing this for 30 years. The frames for the pictures is out of wooden lobster trap. Once we were called, we sat at the counter. Phenomenal food! I ordered the lobster egg benefit! It's was sooo good. They have lobster trap outside, so I presume they catch it out back. The egg Benedict was full of huge chunk of lobsters. The coffee was decent. I friend ordered the omelette with lobster omelette. He loved his dish as well. The ambiance is casual and chill. It does get packed, but, the service is quick. There is ample parking. read more

Stopped into Mangrove Mike's with a party of 6. It was a busy morning however they were able to accommodate our party size quickly enough. Our server was at our table right away pouring coffee and waters. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and it was delicious. Probably one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. Bottom line: Not sure how it gets better than this for breakfast, unless you're looking for turkey bacon and tofu. My family and I went on Easter Sunday. We were seated immediately. All of food was really good. I think we got our food with in 15 minutes or so even though they were busy. Service was great and the prices were even better. They use straws made from eggs, that is not only cool but good for the environment. Another plus is they use the keys salt scrubs in the ladies room (I love that stuff)! I have a couple different scents at home. Overall I left there very satisfied with our experience. read more

You can enjoy sushi, Italian food, casual drinks, beachside meals, or a more elegant dinner without traveling far. The resort has a beautiful Florida Keys atmosphere and offers plenty of activities for both adults and families. I especially liked having so many options in one place, including the beach, pools, water activities, fishing, golf, tennis, pickleball, spa, restaurants, live music, and our comfortable ocean-view room with a fireplace. It is a great place to relax, enjoy the water, dine, and have everything conveniently located at the resort. The champagne welcome, included valet parking, ocean views, fireplace, and live music were also nice extra touches. Although a few areas need a little restoration and there was a slight seaweed smell during the high season, these issues did not ruin our stay. Fantastic!! Food was great service was great & cashier was sweet! Prices were amazing and let me just tell you their banana bread french toast and sausages are out of this world. I thought coming on labor day would be a huge mistake but the young lady who served us smiled the whole time, our drinks were never empty and she was super helpful. I felt like part of the keys family not some dreaded "Miami" lady. I will be back again! You should send your staff to these fancy expensive restarants in miami for a lesson or two! read more

Was treated horribly and thrown out for not wearing a mask. I am vaccinated and wasn't allowed to show my card. This was embarrassing. others saw this and also walked out behind me. Disgraceful. I am very aware of the situation with Mike, and its heartbreaking but he wouldn't want his staff agressively embarassing another local business owner like they did to me. There was a smell to the place that was a little off-putting when we first walked in; smelled like fish. Do not order the fried chicken plate! At first it was tasty then my second bite of chicken breast was ice cold. ICE cold. I was told it's pre prepared, then frozen until ordered! Then told it's only battered ahead of time. A trip to Islamorada for me is not complete without a stop to Mangrove Mike's Cafe. Healthy portions and great service with a smile. Anything I have tried has been delicious. I recommend this place to everyone if you want a true deep of the Keys. Always enjoy the pictures on the walls the mural and the old fishing videos on the tv screen. read more

Me and my wife ate breakfast here everyday for a week when we were visiting the keys. I recommend checking out their breakfast tater tot tower combinations - it's delicious ! Staff were extremely polite and the service was quick . Neither cheap or expensive but the quality is excellent. read more

To start we got the Brioche rolls and the truffle potatoes. The rolls were very good with the honey butter definitely recommend. The potatoes are a bit hit or miss as it's not coated well so you'll get some pieces that taste great and some that are just plain potato. Definitely think they should toss these a bit better or add more sauce as they become quite dry. The pieces that are coated do have a good flavor. Before our appetizers we also got a "Margarita" pizza. I say "Margarita" because I would equate this more to just a cheese pizza. It's quite greasy and has some flop to it. It definitely was a decent pizza just think they need to lighten up on the cheese, add a bit more basil, and add some tomato. For our meals my wife got the Cacio E Pepe and I got the 72 hour beef burger with egg and truffle. She said the pasta was okay but nothing special the actual pasta was not typical Cacio e Pepe. The bun I assume was a potato roll and because of all the toppings the bottom was essentially disintegrated and falling apart since it was soaked. Being called a beef bacon smash burger I expected 1-2 patties and some crispy bacon definitely not what I received. I also expected with paying extra to atleast have a couple truffle shavings on it. The taste of truffle was so light I'd say it was barely even there. Service wise it was not the worst nor the best. Usually when we go to higher end places or places aiming for a star we'd expect perfect service. We had to ask for refills on multiple occasions, we don't drink alcohol so we just needed a refill of their soda from the fountain which isn't that hard. So definitely not as on point as it could be. All in all I think for being in the keys this is a good place that has some improvements to make. I don't think they're Michelin star ready as of yet but with some adjustments I definitely think they could be on their way.
