Just wondering this place has been here for as long as I can remember but has changed hands a few years ago. What makes me think is what has happened to the long time employees that we could meet and talk to on a daily or weekly basis? Most recently visiting I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese bagel and it seemed that there was no joy or love put into making my breakfast and I am not even sure the person cooking it knew how to cook? Just another understaffed place that seems like no one cares about what they are doing or who they are serving. Put a little joy into what you are doing, there are plenty and plenty of breakfast spots but do something that makes me want to come back again or maybe even want to tell someone about what you do. Everyone is nice but that's where it starts and ends. If you enjoy bread in the shape of a bagel but the taste and texture do not resemble a bagel, then this is the spot for you! You'll use those teeth to rip apart the dense "bagel" and if you got a lunch sandwich you'll have a clear picture of skimping. Customer service was terrible. This was my first time here and I wasn't sure how everything worked I ordered my bagel and went to the cashier and had to tell her what I got again because they don't communicate orders. I ordered an iced coffee she never gave me a cup so I asked and she was so rude. Like I knew we were aloud to go BEHIND the counter to get the cup and make my own. The iced coffee was empty and when I told her she ignored me and said do you want cold brew and I said sure but I wanted her to know that the iced coffee was empty so I told her again because she never acknowledged the first time and she said I know it takes 7 minutes to make a new one like I knew that. Haven't been here in about 2 months and so much has changed. The staff is all new! And there's a touch screen ordering system now. No more face to face ordering so you can add avocado,or extras on your bagel sandwich. Instead you order and have to hope someone sees you to ask for extras. The staff is a huge part of any business. Have gone hear twice in the past week. Fist time waited to be acknowledged to place an order for over 5 minutes. Went again to give them a chance. Again, waited for almost 5 minutes to be acknowledged and was only one person ahead of me. I order a simple toasted bagel with butter. The gentleman behind me ordered 3 cooked breakfast sandwiches. Ten minutes goes by, that gentleman paid for and left with his order several minutes before I finally asked what the hold was. Unfortunately for me, the young lady that took my simple order was too busy chatting about her life's problems and never made my order. So, they apologize, and tried to make it right so fast that they made the wrong order. We have been going to this Manhattan Bagel for over 10 years! The sad thing is I think they have wonderful bagels! I write this review in hopes that SOMEONE in corporate figures out how bad this place is and closes it down. Been here several times and given it several chances. Let's go over the reasons why everyone here should be fired and replaced. 1.) Mediocre to poor quality food. Way below other stores in that franchise. I keep hoping it would get better and never did. 2.) Insanely bad service. No manners. General feeling that they could give a crap and they could really care less about you, your food, and the fact that you exist. 3.) Wrong orders. 50%-60% of the time food is wrong. 4.) They close early. 5.) They run out of food way too often. 6.) Did I mention bad service? I did? Well worth saying again. Food comes out late and they sometimes just forget that you ordered or even what you ordered. Sometimes have to remind them to make my food. 7.) Bad service. Yup there's more. They don't even answer their phone to receive orders when it's during "busy" morning hours. Call at 6 or 6:30am, they won't pick up. Seconds after called the 8th time, I drove by, looked in and store and they had one customer. Just people standing around looking annoyed not wanting to be there; so it's either apathy or laziness that keeps them doing their jobs. Never attempting that place again. Breakfast sandwiches are so yummy here! Especially on a snowy morning! I prefer the bagels here to dunkin donuts, sandwiches as well. They have a good selection of cream cheeses that are also kosher, but bagels are not. They close in the afternoon, so you have a limited time each day to get your generous serving of carbohydrates for the day. Their bagels are soft. A warm "everything" bagel (in particular) with butter is all kinds of yummy in my tummy. I came here to get some bagel sandwiches for lunch the other day with my dad. He got the reuben because they have a million coupons for $1 off in the local coupon clipper deals. I got the chelsea grilled chicken on asiago cheese bagel (grilled chicken breast, roasted red peppers, monterey jack cheese, and tomato garlic sauce with a pickle & coleslaw). Although the bagel was good, this was an extremely disappointing sandwich. The ratio of bread to chicken was about 3:1, and it was DRENCHED in the tomato garlic sauce, so my lunch consisted mostly of me eating a bagel soggy with the sauce and maybe one bite of chicken. The monterey jack cheese wasn't melted well and resembled plastic more than anything else. It's about $7 for a sandwich, which is kind of pricey for the suburbs. Just stick to the bagels, and you'll be safe.They're not the best I've ever tasted, but they'll suffice if you're chilling in South Jersey where there are limited options. read more

The best bagels around, hands down. We always order at least a dozen and freeze any extras for later in a ziplock bag. They defrost well. My favorite are the everything bagels. I decided to give them another try so I stopped this morning and was told the same thing. They were out of cinnamon raisin bagels but yet again all the other bagel bins were full.
