Great craft beer bar in Chula Vista. What makes this craft beer bar so unique with the ubiquitous hipster bars popping up around San Diego is that they've kept the true dive bar atmosphere where you can drink a Bourbon County yet play a game of pool or darts and watch the game. They have about 12 taps, all craft beer and mostly local gems. Also have a great on site consumption bottle selection for very reasonably priced. For instance, a BA Stone release for only about a dollar more than the brewery was selling it for! If you have that friend or parent in town who is set in their ways and won't drink anything but Bud, this place will appease them as well because they have all of the macro bottles AND a full bar. I frequent the craft beer scene in SD but most places don't offer all of the macros for that one person in the group! Had a great time at the Manhattan while stopping in for a weekend in San Diego!! As far as dive bars go, this one is fabulous. This is the type of bad I would frequent as a local favorite if I still lived in town! It isn't too far from downtown if you are living or staying there, and just about a mile off the 5 Exit or trolley stop in Chula Vista. They have a full bar, along with huge craft beer list. We went on a Friday night, and there was an awesome rockabilly band playing! One of the people there told me they also do karaoke every Thursday night, and they have lots of live bands coming through. They have 2 pool tables, and it was fun to watch some games and meet new people. There were a few patrons that had a little too much to drink, but other than that the crowd was pretty laid back! This is definitely a dark, grimy bar, so if you're looking for something classy and fancy, this is not the best stop. Great selection of beer! Best bar in Chula Vista hands down. Great thing about this bar is that every time I go there is a different selection of what's on draft which is awesome. I visited this location on a Wednesday night and it was moderately packed but not too packed. All the workers were very nice and music selection was pretty solid. Overall I feel like this location does a good job accommodating to all different age groups and is a good location to come have a beer or two and habgout. read more

I just moved here and fell in love with this bar! The atmosphere is great and they have the best micheladas! The bartenders are amazing and always friendly (shout out to Dria)! The girl is awesome. This is the diviest dive bar I've ever been to. The crowd was middle aged to older adults that look like they've been sitting at the bar since they turned 21. There are a couple pool tables and they had a pretty good live band the night I was there. It's a little cramped waiting to get a drink, but I can't complain. The mixed drink I ordered was pretty good and their tap list of local craft beer was decent. They only take cash, but there is an ATM inside. My boyfriend, neighbors and I have enjoyed this establishment over the years but after our recent visit we left with a sour taste in our mouths. We came in on Saturday 4/21 for a couple of cocktails.. the good- the bar wasn't overly crowded, we enjoyed the live band that played a mix of music from different genres. The bad- we had noticed a very tall woman walk in, we paid her no mind but obviously she was a transgender female, (regardless of her sexual orientation, she was beautiful), and she sat near the back, waiting for friends to arrive. We then noticed that an older woman, that I've been told is the owner, was starring at the tall woman from across the bar. She even commented to us that she's " not looking at us, we are just in her line of view", that she's "watching the he-she behind you guys". I made no remark back, shocked by her blunt remark of judgement. I was confused. What was the tall woman doing that obligated the owner to be so rude? Is there no gender equality at this establishment? The owner then made matters worse, by kicking the tall woman out the back door and announcing it to the whole bar stating that she told her "I know what you are. You are not welcome here. Get the F**k out!" She ranted about her exploits. Making not only us but other tables uncomfortable. The "owner" came off ignorant and I was disgusted with her singling out someone like this. We left without finishing our drinks, as did a couple others. We won't be back. read more

I came here as a joke. As a native of the South Bay I have seen this place for years, and truly never even thought about patronizing this place. I am sure glad I did. This isn't a 20 something bar, this is your parents bar. On weekends they have a live band that plays songs from the 60's -70's, and most everyone there was most likely alive when the songs came out. The drinks are rather small and about $4 for wells. The service though is pretty damn good, the bartenders the nicest ladies in the South Bay. If you a looking for a chill time come here, if you are looking to get drunk and act a fool, go somewhere else. read more

Awesome old dive style bar in Chula Vista. Best part - they feature an amazing selection of craft beers! They also offer a pretty fantastic selection of whiskeys. The staff is friendly and there are a couple of pool tables. While we were there, they had a band playing and they rocked! Bar was not crowed, its a Thursday night 12:20 am sat until 12:40 until one of 2 bartenders came up and asked if I needed a drink. One bartender was just chit chatting with other employee and. 2nd bartender ignored me. I was very annoyed by time one if them came to me. That I let her know I was annoyed and left without having a drink No excuse for the poor service. I can understand when it's busy I will be surprised if this revealed it on yelp. If you like craft beer this is a MUST. I don't give 5 Stars because Matt the owner is going to do even better things so the bar will be raised. Surprised I haven't been here sooner, but this is a great dive car located in old Chula Vista. Nice selection of beers and reasonable priced mixed drinks as well. I've just started going here recently but every time I go the service is always great! It also never hurts to have a Super Nintendo around. It's right next to El Patio and they let you bring the food in just in case you need something to go with your drinks. Just note before you head here that the bar is cash only. read more

I am a chula vista local and it was my first time coming in this bar and only because some friends wanted to go there. We were having a good time with my friends talking to other people there and everything was going great until i sat down in the bar section. All the stools were empty and I just picked a random one to sit down, when I looked down I saw a drink right in front of me so I just moved the drink to the side. The bartender(blonde lady didn't get her name) then asked me if I'd had moved it; I said yes and replied I didn't see it but i moved it to the side, what's the problem. The lady said, "Don't you know that if there is a drink in front of a seat, that means someone is sitting there!" I replied sorry but there was nobody here and I didn't see it so I just moved it to the side. She then told me to move out of my seat and go to another one. I feel that I didn't do anything wrong since the bar seats were most of them empty anyways so I said why would I move if im already seating here?, I just moved the drink to the side, what's the problem?. She then raised her voice and demanded for me to move I insisted with my reasoning on why I HAD to move; and then she just told me that I wasn't allowed to come back to the bar anymore and leave when I finish the beer which I had just paid for it a few mins before. I said it is fine i'll leave no problem, and I stayed there just drinking my beer. All of the sudden she comes back and demanded for me to leave right that instant, I was like what? you just told me to finish my beer and leave. I said its fine i'll leave just give me a cup to take it since it was almost full or give me a refund which its fair since it was new. She said no and took my beer and threw it away! I was like wth seriously? wow, I said can you give me another one because or a refund and I'll go, since it was new and you said to finish it and now you do this.... she threaten me in calling the police if I didn't leave that instant. I said call them because I haven't done anything and I am calmly talking and you are the one that's threatening me and raising your voice on me. I took 20$ out and tell her to give me another one, she took the money and told me again to get out, at that moment my friend came over and saw that she was yelling and just dragged me out of there. As a customer that is no way of treating and talking to a customer like the way she did. I was tipping her all night(had 2 previous beers) and even took the 20$ at the end. I wouldn't ever come back even if they gave me everything for free and would never recommend that place to anyone. I should've stayed at Chula Vista Brewery which I have always had a great time and everyone has treated me with respect unlike this place. Anyways I know its long but it its a really bad experience I wanted to share it, so if you decide to go just be careful with that bartender which she is really aggressive and disrespectful with customers if you don't change your seat whenever she tells you to. Went here for a birthday party not knowing what to expect. This place is awesome!!!! Great beer selection and the bartenders are quick. Pretty chill neighborhood bar. Staff is friendly, pour is good....just watch out for the younger female bartender. She tried overcharging us and would have been successful had we not caught it. Their bloody marys are pretty legit; they stack an olive, a block of pepperjack cheese, a pepperonchini and a pickle on a skewer WITH the celery stick which makes for a delicious snack whilst sippin on the spicy cocktail.... Was in the area, and in the mood for a bloody mary, saw the big sign. Met Nena the bartender who made us really good drinks. Had fun chatting with the locals. This place has all craft beers on tap, and bottled domestics. Nena told us the craft beers are rotated every week. nice neighborhood bar. will return when in the area. read more

If you're looking for friendly bartenders, this is not the place. Bartenders are cranky and rude. They form clicks which is childish. Yes they have karaoke, but the DJ Coleman is a jerk. He shows favoritism to who he allows to sing. Be careful not to befriend the regulars because if you piss them off they will make sure it's hell for you. read more
