My son took me here for lunch as a treat..it was anything but! The waitress told us there would be a $2.00 up charge for sharing a meal as I was not overly hungry. That was fine. Then the food came out..the food was so salty I could not eat it. Whoever told the chef he could cook..what you could not taste it it was that salty. The broccoli and the fires far too salty. Then we got charged $5. up charge! We said it was not right and the manager or owner, not sure which came out and asked so rudely, if we could read and had we read what it states on the menu about the upcharge! My son told her she was being rude and there was a better way to talk to people. She told us she was not being rude. Obviously someone with no social skills then! We told her we could not be back, more because of her rudeness than anything. UNBELIEVABLE! I have eaten in many restaurants in the States but boy this was awful in every sense of the word! The food was ok, but should have been better for the price. I had beef Wellington that was super dry. My wife had the salmon special that looked 5 star, & she said it was awesome!! After many times getting cocktails and brunch at Manhattan's I finally went there to eat dinner, and was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the Charcuterie and the Surf and Turf. Excellent service, presentation and my meal was absolutely delicious. A little pricey for me, but totally worth it. Definitely a "treat yo self" place. I recently came here for dinner and wine with a friend. We sat outside on the patio which provided us a nice atmosphere. The service was great and we didn't have to wait very long for our dinner. Great location, great patio for people watching on a corner.....and there's where...the story ends. I have been here for brunch, lunch, dinner and a wine event and have never had anything close to great food-wise. Both my friend and myself thought everything at the brunch was warmed over and meh. And both had "issues" later that day, lol. Overpriced, especially the drinks. We aren't REALLY in Manhattan. Maybe they don't know that. Ambiance is nice, it's a great place to sit at the bar and enjoy a jazz band but the food is very hit or miss. I ordered the Alfredo pasta with chicken. It was one of the best Alfredo sauces I've had. The chicken was a little to charred. The bruschetta was tasty, a little to dry. My friend ordered the salmon cake salad which the salmon was pretty dry. Overall it was OK, not great. I will go back. I ordered this to go. This is my favorite place in Toledo. It has a very friendly atmosphere. The owners often sit and visit with the patrons. The bar is frequented by an older, upscale crowd with the younger crowd picking the patio when it's warm enough. If you're a regular, the bar crowd will greet you when you come in. So having read glowing reviews submitted by several names I recognized, it was time to give Manhattan's a try. I made a reservation for six for the Sunday brunch. Sorry I cannot review the food, the Nazi guarding the entrance denied us admittance, as he could not find our reservation made the prior evening. (My out of town guests were very impressed.) So for my friends that were inspired to recommend this establishment I beg to differ with you. If you don't mind being treated with total indifference then this place is for you. The experience was personally insulting and an embarrassment for Toledo. My suggestion would be to skip this place and try the brunch at the Renaissance where your patronage is appreciated. read more

I had my rehearsal dinner at Manhattan's this past July and it was spectacular. The staff was very friendly and professional - they even decorated the room for us before our guests arrived! The food was amazing and the live music couldn't be beat. Relatives had flown in from all over the country to be there and I don't think I've seen any of them boogie down that much in awhile! Lunch service was so terrible that we had to leave. What made it worse was that two top seated next to us arrived later and was served. My guest and I arrived well before noon and still wasn't served for at least 25-30mins. We left. Service has never been so bad we had to leave. The food is pretty good! The service is a train wreck. I had the bruschetta appetizer, which was awesome. Then had the Cobb Burger for my entree, which, while slightly undercooked, was still very good. The service, though, is where everything falls apart. After being seated, we sat alone for over ten minutes without ever being approached by a server. The hostess even stopped by the table to apologize for the wait, but had no explanation as to the cause of they delay. That, unfortunately, seemed to set the tone for the entire evening, as the drinks, the food, the check--everything--took forever. I think part of the problem is the way tables are assigned to servers. I saw nearly all of the servers handling tables scattered across the dining room, as well as outside on the patio. It's as though they're assigned tables on rotation, rather than being assigned to sections. That leaves all the serving staff running all over the restaurant and the patio. Surely all that running around creates inefficiency, and perhaps contributes to the crappy service levels. Overall, I'd give the food a 4, and the service a zero--so I'll split the difference and give Manhattan's a final rating of 2 stars. read more

We were there at 6:30 and we explained to the waitress we were in a hurry that we had to be somewhere at 8. She said no problem, I'll put your order in right away. We were still waiting at 7:30 for our food, because we had to ask where it was and she explained that there was a wedding party ahead of us. Seriously? You didn't even had the audacity to let us know that when we told you we were in a hurry? Thanks for ruining our dinner! This place has been consistently fantastic over the years. Location - Adams & 17th. Less than a block from a few great bars - Manos/The Attic, Ottawa Tavern, Bretz. Ambience - Intimate and classy, yet still comfortable. Come here for just a drink after a night downtown, with a group of friends for a casual dinner, or with a date for a nice evening of great food and jazz. Price - About $10 for appetizers, $20-$30 for entrees, $5-10 for desserts. Drinks are a little pricier than surrounding bars but are MUCH stiffer. Look out for happy hour food & drink specials. Service - The best in town. Servers are always warm and friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Parking - Might be tight at peak hours, but there's usually plenty of available spots on the street and in nearby lots. Music - Always great. Never too loud or slow. We've been coming here for many years. It was always nice but just the typical low quality, just off the Sysco truck type stuff. Good ambiance but not worth what you were paying. Things have changed. The menu has been completely overhauled. I had the BLT/scallop salad and chicken saltimbocca special. The salad was spectacular. Scallops just slightly blackened and no hint of fishy taste. Best of all, it wasn't drowning in dressing. There was just enough balsamic to notice. Perfect! The chicken saltimbocca was just a hair dry on the edges. Prosciutto was delicious. The best part of this dish was the endive blanched with cubed carrots, garlic and broth. Wine list was extensive and not overpriced. Server was very attentive and cool although we were the only table there for dinner at the time. Lucky us. No espresso! Boo!!!! Manhattan's is turning it around. Give it a try. read more

Our server Penny was very friendly and knowledgable. She took great care of us throughout dinner. The food! So we all ordered the Marsala with Caesar salads. Penny brought us warm bread with some yummy seasoned butter. The salad was perfect, the croutons were fresh and the cheese was tangy. The Marsala was OMG exceptional!!!! I hardly ever and I mean ever, finish a meal. I had dinner with two work associates, both men, I finished 10 minutes before them! I really could have licked my plate! I hope to be back soon. Nice restaurant. I had never heard of it, but noticed it when driving by one day. The spinach artichoke dip that I had was quite good. It was a bit on the pricey side, but it is a slightly more upscale restaurant so it was to be expected. Unfortunately it was cold out when I went here, so I can't speak for the outdoor seating area, but I would assume that it is their way of keeping the smokers coming to their restaurant. read more

Driving form Detroit to Cleveland and stopped here for dinner. Was a good decision. Very relaxed vibe. Great food and fantastic service. Started with the deep fried brie balls which were super tasty. This review is for lunch on Wed today. I ate Manhattan Burger for $11.00. It was OK other than french fries which seemed fried several times. but the Crispy Pork my friend ordered for $19.00 was not well prepared. Several pork slices were all burned so not edible. I am a Toledo resident so hope any restaurant on the Adams st will be open and successful but I feel sad that even Manhattan is losing it edge. read more

Mid week we went with another couple for dinner reservations at 6:30 before an 8p concert at Art Museum. We did tell our waitress and she said no problem-wasn't crowded. Our meal did not come out until 7:50! We waited over an hour. She didn't serve bread until our meal came out, we had no knives. Had the Broadway chicken salad- mediocre-very thin chicken breast was burnt on the bottom. We complained a bit- they gave us a discount. I don't think I'll go there again. read more
