I used a groupon a few weeks ago. The cleaning lady was on time but the service was sub par! I have a 2/2 condo and I've used Dust Connections and Molly Maid in the past. Both were able to clean the unit top to bottom in the 3 hours allotted. I was working from home so I could not spend much time with the cleaning lady, however I made sure to give her all the supplies she'd need. Please note that I did not want her to clean either bedroom. This meant she'd only have to clean the living/kitchen area, two bathrooms and a hall. She spent the majority of the time in the kitchen which had no more than 5 dirty dishes. She didn't have much to clean in that area as I don't cook often and when i do, i always tidy up the kitchen afterward. The living area she only had to vacuum a rug, polish the table and straighten up the magazines/mail on the table. Because my condo is long and has hardwood flooring, I figured the bulk of her time would be spent cleaning the floors (Which is what I didn't want to do and my reason for calling). I told both the guy on the phone and the cleaning lady exactly what I wanted done (living/kitchen, two baths, and hall) but she never finished the project. When I finally finished up my work call, 2.5 hours had past. I came out to see that she was close to finishing up the 1st bathroom, but I couldn't quite tell if she had done anything to the floors. They looked the same as before and I didn't smell any type of floor cleaning products. I asked if she was sure she'd have time to clean the master bathroom and she said "oh, I didn't know there was another bathroom!" HUH??? I'm thinking, I told you this when you first arrived! She then said "well, there is only 15mins remaining." I then asked if she could just leave the guest bath as is and start on the master which is the one used daily. I told her 3x I wanted her to atleast clean the toilet and tub. I watched her start with the sink, I then told her again, the toilet and tub, but she never actually got to either! She swept the floor, and wiped down the sink only. I understand her English wasn't perfect, but I honestly can say that I believe she understood me when she wanted to! I don't believe in not tipping, so I still tipped her $20 even though she ran out at 11:30am on the dot without even giving me the option to pay for an additional hour. When I inspected my place, I noticed she had my dish towel in the Mop bucket and it was filthy (GROSS)!!! I didn't understand what or why she needed to use that on anything outside of dishes when I gave her sponges to use as well. My house basically looked the same as before with the exception of straighten up papers, and a wiped down counter top and table. I had to finish the master bathroom myself. Then to TOP IF ALL OFF (My reason for the review), Yesterday I went in a drawer in my kitchen and CUT MY HAND on a a broken martini glass she put in the drawer to avoid owning up to her mistake!! WHO DOES THAT? I know she did it because there hasn't been anyone in my place, I have barely been there myself! Another person stated in their review that the cleaning lady broke a candle and didn't say anything! I wouldn't have been upset had she told me, but because she didn't and put it in a drawer like a child hidden evidence from their parents, I CUT MY HAND pretty bad!! Groupon or not, I will never venture away from Dust Connection again. The cleaning lady they send is amazing, fast and very detailed!! We used Manic Maids for several years with different properties. You supply the supplies which I prefer. They have come bi-weekly to our home and we have had the same woman for almost 2 years! Any issues we have had over the 8+ years the office is always quick to respond and fix. And we always get a reminder phone call the day before, which is helpful. read more

Needed my condo cleaned before I moved and had my renters move in. I've never had a cleaning lady before so just expected to come home to shiny floors and a clean tub. They exceeded my expectations!! The lady was on time, 7am, and cleaned the place to perfection - my base boards were clean, bathroom was immaculate - not a speck of dust to be found anywhere. I turned to yelp to find a good maid service , and thought the reviews for this company were enough to hire them. I should have done some more research I guess. The woman that came to our home did not speak a word of English. When I tried to explain to her that she didn't need to clean something, she did it any how. She simply didn't understand me. I hired this company for 5 specific areas of cleaning and was told over the phone 4 hours would be more than enough time. After 3 1/2 hours, 2 of the 5 items I requested (bathroom & kitchen floor) had been cleaned. I had to keep stopping her from what she was doing and ask her to do what I had requested. She started to sweep the carpeting with a broom? even though I had a vacuum available, AND told her repeatedly that I would take care of the carpeted rooms. I cannot IMAGINE what I would have come home to or for that matter how much my bill would have been had I not been home for the appointment!!! I had to ask her to leave before she had even come close to finishing everything. I called their office a number of times to make sure I was only charged for the 3 1/2 hours and all I could reach was their answering machine. When someone finally called me back I was told a receipt would be e-mailed to me, that most of their employees don't speak English, and that I should have tried sign language????! What!? No receipt was ever e-mailed, but I did get another call from someone else at their office telling me that I could just look at my credit card statement or they would mail a receipt. For 22$ an hour (and they bring ABSOLUTELY no cleaning supplies, something else I was not told over the phone when making the appointment) this place is a rip off. i hardly ever write reviews. I think about writing them a lot, make plans as i fall asleep and never quite get to them. Which i say just to preface this with the fact that i've actually been compelled out of my complacency because i just had a great cleaning experience! My only disclaimer is that obviously with a cleaning service the quality of the cleaning is going to be dependent on the cleaners but i just had the best experience ever! We've been searching for a reliable, affordable, thorough cleaner for the past 6 months. At this point i've tried 3 individuals and 2 services. My experiences ranged from completely and utterly frustrating to pretty satisfied with one chief complaint. This time, everything was right! We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath bungalow. 2 kids, 2 cats and we both work full-time. So we try but the house needs help. Pros: -Could place service request online and pay by credit card. If i'm going to use a service this is important. -Customer service was prompt and friendly (i placed my service request on the weekend and they called first thing monday morning to confirm and schedule. They also called to remind/confirm 1 day in advance.) -Prompt. I work from home but spend much of my day on conference calls. If i'm going to answer the door and show people around, i need to plan for when they're coming. Plus i have to schedule so that my co-workers aren't hearing vacumming in the background of a call. I told the customer service rep i needed them at 8 am. He explained that most of the cleaners take public transport so he couldn't guarantee arrival at exactly 8 am, it would likely be a few minutes later or before. I appreciated the forthrightness and told him it was just important they get there close to 8 as i had a 9 am call. They showed up a few minutes before 8 and dove right in. Timeliness has been a HUGE problem with the other folks we've tried. The other service showed up 1 hour late without even a mention or heaven forbid, an apology. -Thorough. These ladies were awesome! I don't have time to clean our house well. That's why i'm trying to hire someone. And yet, i can't help but finding all the stuff that cleaners don't do. Part of that is personal-- adjusting expectations for what can be accomplished in a specific block of time. After 5 different cleaners i feel i have realistic expectations but have still been let down most of the time. Not sweeping under the kitchen table is a pretty big omission. But these ladies did stuff i hadn't even thought of (vacuuming the side of the ottomans). -Fast. Working from home full-time it's not that easy to have someone here for 5-6 hours while i try to write and think and hold large conference calls. I specifically requested a 2 person team and they took just over 2 hours or 4 man hours. Which by the way, is how much i think it should take to clean the house if you're hustling. One of the times a cleaner didn't show up at all i decided to take the afternoon off and clean the house. It took me just about 4 hours. Cons - Communication. Unfortunately i don't speak spanish and these ladies didn't speak much english. When we were doing the walk-through i was a little worried about how this would go but as my list of pros indicates, there were no issues. If you wanted something really specific, or wanted certain things *not* done i would get them translated in advance. I hired Manic Maids to clean my friends apartment while she was away for a funeral. It was one lady, I paid her and I thought that was the end of it. Today I got a call from them, trying to pretend I didn't pay and charge my credit card. Whatever you do, do not give your credit info to this company they are trying to illegally use it. Yeahhh!!! I love these guys! I have called numerous times asking for a LAST minute cleaning and they have always been able to come THE SAME DAY--I have often called the morning of the day I'd like for them to come and then they have come THAT AFTERNOON! They called me back in FIVE minutes after my last-minute request!!! They do a very thorough job! Also, the FIRST time I called, I had this impossibly disgusting bathtub that I just couldn't get clean and it was sooo embarrassing--and they were able to make it sparkle!!!! read more

When we first started using Manic Maids, we had a wonderful woman that came out. She would have our town house cleaned from top to bottom and then reorganize our closets cabinets and drawers to make them more efficient. She would even do laundry! she was a true gem and incredible. And then she left :( They sent someone over who they said was just like our previous person, but she wasnt. she did the basics, and didnt go above and beyond like our old cleaner did. However, the main reason why we stopped using them was i came home to find my kitchen floor flooded. The cleaner had put dish soap in my dishwasher. Her response was "oh, do you want me to clean it?" uh yeah, my kitchen is under 5 inches of water, you need to do something. After a call to manic maids, they promised to send someone out the next day. who shows up but the kitchen flooder. I sent her away when she flooded my kitchen, i didnt want her back!! I have guests for New Years every year and I HATE cleaning - really HATE cleaning my apartment. I learned of Manic Maids thanks to Groupon, bought said Groupon then I submitted my service request information through their website two weeks before my desired date. Hoo hoo! A great deal and my needed holiday cleaning taken care of - merry Christmas to me! I heard nothing from Manic Maids - not an auto-email response, not a phone call - nothing for 2 business days. Naturally, I made a follow up call - and when I asked if they had received my information, was told the website was down over the weekend. (hmmm..I did not go on their website over a weekend.) Set the appointment , was reminded of the fact I would provide my own cleaning products, that the cleaning lady would likely not have a great command of English (I don't have a great command of Spanish, hey, we were even.) and told I would get a call to confirm the time a day prior. Awesome! The return phone call happened, my time is set I'm good to go. The assigned cleaning lady arrives over an hour late - wrong building number is written down. I show her what I need cleaned in my apartment (while I have a 2 bedroom apartment, the 2nd bedroom is basically storage) - kitchen, bathroom, all floors, in my bedroom only the floor, living room. I show her my full compliment of cleaning products. She immediately says in extremely broken English that she will need another hour and I should call the office to tell them. I do so, it's acknowledged that they knew my assigned cleaning lady is late (yet they never called me) then am told that will be $20 extra. I'm not thrilled but what choice do I have? - my guests will be arriving the next day. And I'm not sure how it will take *4 hours* to clean the space of a one bedroom apartment. The end result: yes, my apartment is clean. I'm not sure I got my money's worth of how it got there. I'm not sure what cleaning solutions were used on what as I did NOT smell the usual suspects in the usual places. I do know that she used almost an entire large bottle of windex and a roll and half of paper towels. (hmm!) She was also extraordinarily, painfully slow moving (and a young woman). As much as I detest cleaning, I could easily clean my place much faster and with the correct cleaning supplies. I'd look elsewhere before I would hire Manic Maids again. read more

Initially I was very happy with the job this company did. Unfortunately there were some problems after the last cleaning though; items out of place and other things done poorly as well as an item that appeared to be damaged. Believing that the broken item had simply been the result of an accident, and not having actual footage of what occurred, I suggested to simply apply a discount for a number of future sessions. Overall the value of the credits was much smaller than that of replacing the item but was agreed to in the interest of a quick and easy resolution for all parties. Initially the owner was in agreement and seemed very happy. The next day though she changed her mind and insisted that she wanted to try and accomplish a repair. She dismissed the fact that the cost of the repair would likely be much greater than the agreed to credit and that the manufacturer could not completely guarantee it would not be noticeable. When I reiterated that a major part of me accepting the lessor discount the day before was not having to take the time or effort to continue dealing with this issue she resorted to criticizing me. The bottom line is that the quality of the work with this company can be inconsistent (as other reviews have also stated), and if there is an issue it will not be handled smoothly. read more

I just got home from work and have a huge smile on my face-we have a large older apt that we let get a little out of control being busy, blah blah. we had Rosa who cleaned a dining room, hall, living room, kitchen and bathroom (3 bedrooms were not on the list of to- dos) in 3 hrs she took a lot of nasty floorboards, an extremely dusty bathroom, a disgusting kitchen (nobody wants to think they are that messy but lets be real) and made them cleaner than when we moved in almost a year ago. This is not an easy apt to clean, btw. She even cleared out every crumb in our toaster oven and microwave which are now SPOTLESS. Oh and a bunch of wineglasses are sparkling new. If you are thinking of a christmas gift for your lady..... I highly recommend. We will definitely be calling Manic Maids again. read more

Very disappointed with their cleaning service. I was out and I came home and was not impressed, in fact my place looked the same. The kitchen cabinets were not wiped down, the windows pains were still dirty and the floors didn't look like they were clean. I have had better cleaning services done on our place, but this is one I will not be going back too. read more

Very disappointing! Called them up on a friend's recommendation, but did not live up to expectation. Two people took six hours on what should have been a three hour job. One of the workers slacked off and the other one had to redo everything for her. Their manager kept calling them every twenty minutes wasting even more of their time and my money. They missed top of fridge and shelves in all rooms, when I specifically asked them to dust off everything. When I complained, they offered no excuses or apologies. Terrible customer service. I have been using this service for a year and have steadily seen a downturn in their service. I have had multiple changes in the cleaning ladies during that time . I was originally quoted 4 hrs worth of cleaning for my house. It seemed to be fine. The current cleaning lady is insisting that she doesn't have enough time in 4 hours even though the other women never had a problem. My floors are also no longer actually clean and the couches aren't getting vacuumed. I agree with the other recent review that the cleaners aren't properly used on the correct surfaces. I have repeatedly pointed out which cleaner for which surface as I have both tiled and hardwood floors. Anyway I have finally left and do not recommend anyone else use this company until they clean up their own act. read more

Manic Maids takes your credit card number over the phone and then charges it the day after the cleaning, which is great to not have to worry about leaving cash or a check. I have had two different women come to clean from this service, both have been good. They are always on time. read more

We hired this company to do a "deep clean" of our apartment, which hadn't been done in the six years we'd lived there -- you know, cleaning under the oven, fridge, baseboards, etc. Sonya, who answered the phone was prompt and helpful. She also made it very easy for us to drop off keys after hours. We gave a list of what we needed done and it all got done, even the exhaust fan in the bathroom that I can't even reach on a chair! We were definitely impressed. More impressive was the fact that the woman was still cleaning when I came home from work (yeah, it was that dirty). She spent 8 1/2 hours there, and the next day I got a call from the office saying that they didn't think that could be correct and wanted to confirm with us that it was before charging us -- nice touch. Also, the cost is definitely a plus, very cheap per hour, though remember that there's a minimum of 3 hours of cleaning. We'll definitely use them again! read more

I just used a groupon and have only used their service once, but I'm impressed by the detailed work. As other reviewers mentioned she didn't speak English, but you can find a way to communicate any specific needs. In my case I asked her to work on getting all the cat hair out and asked her to pay attention to specific places, like around the laundry machine where I tend to miss, for my allergic friend coming to visit. When I made the appointment the guy on the phone told me specific products to leave out for her that would be helpful for allergies. She definitely did a thorough job fulfilling my requests. Additionally, I keep coming across little places around my apartment that I'm pleasantly surprised she cleaned (e.g., the burnt remnants off the bottom of my toaster oven and the hair in the shower drain, yuck). I've never been impressed enough by past cleaning companies to try them a second time, but I will certainly be calling Manic Maids again. read more
