I had a couple of friends in from Colorado and wanted to expose them to some authentic Maryland seafood on the water without going over to the Eastern Shore. Pirates Cove was the perfect call. Literally dockside in the tucked away town of Galesville, we sat and enjoyed drooling over all the boats. In the winter, there is a great enclosed patio that can be completely opened up in the summer. The dockside bar was closed for the season, but is hopping in the summer months. We ordered a variety of seafood appetizers and main courses to share amongst our group. Everything from the oysters, cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and mussels were perfectly prepared and delicious. Hands down the Cream of Crab soup is IMO the best in the Mid-Atlantic. They also have the half Maryland/half Cream of Crab soup option, which is one of my favorite meals. Everyone is still raving about the food and we have some CO converts from Rocky Mountain Oysters to real Maryland oysters! While the food was outstanding, the service was just as good. Our wait staff did a fantastic job walking through the menu to recommend the best options for a true Maryland seafood feast. It was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to come back.

We ordered the House Made Tater Tots & Caviar as an appetizer to share and loved them so much that we had to order a second round. I also ordered the Chargrilled Oysters, and they were delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the Jail Island Salmon, and it was cooked to perfection. The Parsnip Brown Butter Purée was the perfect complement to the dish. I rarely order dessert at restaurants, but the Double Chocolate Brownie caught my attention. The combination of brownie, popcorn, and a side of ice cream was impossible to resist. It was the best dessert I've had in years! I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.

We enjoyed every dish. Everything was well-cooked, delicious, and beautiful. My wine and my martini were also very good. The menu is classic steakhouse, and they're doing it all right. And classics done right are hard to beat. Beyond the food and drinks, the restaurant is beautiful. It doesn't have that retro vibe that some steakhouses have and I love, but it is elegant and beautiful and very sophisticated. People dress up a bit for this one. They have a large dining room and a large bar area as well (I was already imagining returning and have a drink and snacks at their bar). And then the real kicker. The service is outstanding. We felt really taken care of. By everyone who touched our table. This is some of the best service I've experienced in Baltimore. Overall, the Ruxton was a very good meal. I'd be happy to repeat it. A good option for dinner if you need a place in Harbor East!

You get a nice warm feeling there. A very large place. Love the entrance, is has a very nice bar. Food- Very pricing for what was ordered and brought to us. The shrimp from the shrimp cocktail tasted old and a bit chewy. My crab cakes had very little lump crab for $50. The server told me that they would be top notch. Wife's petite filet was good. Side dishes had to be sent back because they were warm. Wine selection is large and varied. My old fashioned did not come with a large ice cube, so I reprimanded the server and he changed it out. Classy places serve them with a large ice cube! Service- Felt rushed. Maybe they didn't have enough servers. Ours could have been a bit more matured and experienced. Their smocks need to be whiter. If you are wearing white, it needs to be white and not have that unbleached used look. Value- I don't see it. Stoney River is a better value though their atmosphere is lacking. Wait time- they sat us immediately. Food took a bit long we thought. All in all, disappointed. I went online earlier in the week asking for the best steakhouse in Md. and Lewnes was at the top of the list. We do not have an issue with spending money for dinner but if you are at a top notch restaurant, everything has to be top notch, right?! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g29494-d523105-r1052264894-Lewnes_Steakhouse-Annapolis_Maryland.html#

We entered the carryout area, were greeted by a pleasant lady, and ordered the Jewel of the Sea seafood platter (with crabcake, shrimp and scallops) two sides (baked potato and veggie). Timbuktu has seating in this area to enjoy your food here and also has a liquor store to purchase packaged goods. There was also a large TV for viewing and an ATM onsite. You could also purchase bagged snacks and cold nonalcoholic beverages as well. They also have a dessert case with assorted sliced cakes and pies for purchase in addition to ready to go salads and sandwiches. Our food was ready in a decent amount of time. The platter looked good and upon tasting, all of the seafood fresh: the crabcake was a smaller version of what you would get in a traditional crabcake platter, but still delicious with low filler allowing the sweetness of the crabmeat to shine; the shrimp were broiled and fresh; the scallops were cooked perfectly with a great taste. The sides were good as well. All in all, a good platter to purchase when you want to expand on a traditional crabcake platter.

The broccolini, coffee, and espresso shot were not our favorites of the evening, but honestly, the other dishes were so good that we quickly forgot about them. The ribeye and New York strip were very good. The butchers steak I got for my son and he didn't really like it, it was lacking flavor. If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. He came here for a restaurant week birthday treat for one of my friends. Michaels is located on eastern Avenue. They have their own small lot and you can probably find decent street parking close by as well. When you walk in the first thing you will notice is the wood panel on all of the wall walls. Reminded me of my parent's basement when I was growing up. Looks like the restaurant has remained unchanged as far as its original designs from when it first opened 40+ years ago. There was a very nice waitress working by the name of Brooke. It appears that she was the only waitress working on a Saturday afternoon. There was one bartender. So if you are in a rush, do not expect the fastest service. But Brooke was great very friendly and was willing to answer any question about menu items that we had. She brought out some bread and took our drink orders. I had a Stella in later ordered a old-fashioned. The old-fashioned was very good. Not too sweet and a generous amount of bourbon. They do not have the large single cubes of ice so it was traditional, crushed ice. But it was strong enough that it was not watered down as the ice melted. For my meal, I had a New York strip steak with a crab cake. Also had a cup of cream of crab soup and a slice of cheesecake. This was only the restaurant we menu for $55. Crab soup was delicious delicious. It had a good flavor and you could taste the chunks of real crab meat. The crabcake was OK, it had a generous amount of jumbo lump crab meat, but it was a little on the bland side. The New York strip steak was absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly medium. Warm pink center and a delightful char to the exterior. Did not need any additional seasoning or steak sauce. The sides were so so. I just had a baked potato. It was nothing fancy, just a plain baked potato with a dollop of sour cream. Overall, a solid place. It appears the locals enjoy it because the bar packed with people who all knew each other and it seems like they come quite frequently. The menu has some pretty good weekend specials. I wouldn't mind coming back again.
