For dinner, I ordered the whole lobster, and I honestly underestimated what I was getting. The presentation alone was impressive--it was served on a board nearly the size of a large wooden cutting board. At around $200, it's definitely a splurge, but after tasting it, I completely understood why. The lobster was cooked perfectly, incredibly fresh, and so good that I somehow managed to finish the entire thing. We also ordered the Lemon Butter Prawns, and they deserve just as much recognition. The lemon butter sauce was rich, bright, and unlike anything I've had before. Easily some of the best prawns I've ever eaten. We shared a side of broccoli, which was good, but with everything else on the table, it simply wasn't the star of the meal. My partner ordered the Fried Lobster with mashed potatoes, and they absolutely nailed it. The lobster was fried perfectly--crispy on the outside while remaining juicy and tender inside without tasting greasy. That's not an easy balance to achieve, but Ruxton pulled it off. The cocktails were just as memorable. I ordered the Shake & Bake, which I'd describe as a tequila take on an Old Fashioned, and it ended up being one of my favorite drinks from our entire Baltimore food tour. My partner's dirty martini was also well made. The service was exceptional throughout the evening. Our team was attentive, professional, and consistently checked in without ever being intrusive. They helped make an already special evening feel even more memorable. Ruxton absolutely lived up to the hype. Very disappointing experience, especially for nearly $250 at lunch. My $90 cowboy cut steak was unevenly cooked, and the fat wasn't properly rendered. The steak also was not sliced correctly and I bit into a bone while eating (we requested it to be pre-sliced). The bread wasn't made in-house, and the staff couldn't tell us what type of flour it was made with (we had someone in the party with an allergy). Service was slow and lacked communication. Lunch took over two hours with no updates on the delays, and we ran out of both bread and water because our waiter forgot to bring refills. For the price, I expected much better food and service. Dined here on Wednesday night and it was rock solid in every aspect. Was in town from Vegas for an upcoming project and this spot was right next to our hotel. I used to be a steakhouse GM on the strip and I know a well run operation when I see it and this spot did not disappoint. Between the four of us, we tried a bit of the menu: lemon butter prawns (with confit cherry tomato, smoked trout roe, and fine herbs); house-made tater tots and caviar (Kaluga caviar, chives, dill, aged Provolone, and Crème Fraîche); Caesar Salad (Parmigiano Reggiano, herbed croutons); a 6 oz filet mignon; a 14 oz New York Strip; two steak sauces (chimichurri, horseradish cream); miso sea bass (with bok choy, chanterelle, snap peas, and dashi); double chocolate brownie (with caramel corn, bourbon caramel, Charmery salted caramel ice cream); and lots of drinks (wines and cocktails). We enjoyed every dish. Everything was well-cooked, delicious, and beautiful. My wine and my martini were also very good. The menu is classic steakhouse, and they're doing it all right. And classics done right are hard to beat. Beyond the food and drinks, the restaurant is beautiful. It doesn't have that retro vibe that some steakhouses have and I love, but it is elegant and beautiful and very sophisticated. People dress up a bit for this one. I was invited to celebrate a friend's birthday. This is an upscale restaurant but some of the patrons were not of the level of the experience. However, I greeted and taken to the table of reservation. It was a party of 10 and our waitress Jada was the best. She attended to us and other large party tables efficiently. The server was very attentive and didn't take time in bringing out what we asked for. Charbroiled oysters were my absolute favorite. I also ordered lamb chips which were about 6/10. We would definitely come back on a non holiday as we know it will be a better experience. The caviar Tots are okay I don't like hot or Mushy caviar and that's what we received. The tots were great. Hubby and I came here for the first time for dinner on a Friday night. We made a reservation online. We ordered their wedge salad, chilled shellfish salad, dry-aged cowboy steak with their grilled asparagus and bacon mac n cheese. Total came to approximately a little over $200 (including tip). What's hot - Menu. Very good. There appears to something for everyone, even vegans. There's meat, seafood, and vegetables. For example, they have a cauliflower steak as an option. They also appear to be able to cater their dishes to your preference. - Quality. Excellent. Their asparagus were rather large for our taste, but their kitchen does a good job of shaving off a little from the bottom of the stalks. As such, their asparagus were served pretty tender. We ordered our steak medium and it was cooked to our liking. My chilled seafood salad comes with a delicious citrus vinaigrette. Not too sweet and slightly savory. My favorite dishes are my salad and the mac n cheese. - Portions. Excellent. Their cowboy steak comes with the bone and is sliced for you, which allows you to share. The mac n cheese is incredibly rich. That was probably the most filling dish. Unless you have a large party, I would not recommend a flight of 3 mac n cheeses, because it's so rich. - Layout. Rather small layout. We were seated at a table for two, but next time, I would like to take advantage of their booths, which is in the shape of a half circle, which can seat up to 4. - Service. Excellent. Their hostess was able to pull up our reservation immediately and seat us. They definitely pay attention to detail. The staffer gave us details for off menu items (i.e., their specials). We had questions about specific menu items and she was able to provide us helpful details about ingredients, texture, flavor, etc.... For example, when describing their chocolate brownie for dessert, she explained how it was fudgy, which is something I love about chocolate desserts. My husband and I love their rolls with wagyu butter. I specifically asked about the ingredients of the wagyu butter. When we paid our bill, our staffer gave us some rolls and wagyu butter in a takeaway container. Appreciate her attention to detail. - Price. You certainly pay the quality, portions, and service. My husband and I agree that we may only return for special occasions. We are interested in returning to their bar to check out their happy hour specials. What's not - Acoustics. The night we were there, there was rather loud music playing from their bar, which detracted from the ambiance. Their main dining room has rather low lighting, which tends to suggest a more calm and quiet atmosphere. The loud music detracted from the ambiance. It also made it more difficult for my husband and I to carry a conversation. - Quality. While the cowboy steak was delicious, it was not as well-seasoned as we would like. Perhaps this is where ordering their sauces and/or accoutrements might be helpful. My husband and I like our steaks to have a nice exterior seasoning and possible crust to add to the flavor. The cowboy steak did not come with that. - Cannot order their happy hour specials in the main dining room. To be fair, there are many restaurants that do not allow you to take advantage of their happy hour specials in the main dining room. Our reservation was for 5:30, which is before their happy hour specials end. - Parking. Depending on the day and time, it can be difficult to find. They have valet parking for $20. There is also street parking, but it appears to be metered paid parking around the restaurant. For the main course, the 6oz Filet Mignon and the 8oz Dry-Aged Steak were cooked to perfection. My Recommendation: Definitely pair your steak with the Chimichurri sauce! We found the house sauce didn't quite complement the meat, but the chimichurri added such a fresh, vibrant pop of flavor. Sips: If you love a classic, their Old Fashioned is wonderful--perfectly strong and elegant. The Sides & Bread The bread service was delicious on its own, but we weren't fans of the garlic butter pairing; it just wasn't the best mix for us. As for the sides: Jalapeño & Cheddar Grits: A lovely balance of heat without being too spicy, though a tiny bit heavy on the salt. Brussels Sprouts: Lovely flavor, but they sat in the glaze a bit too long, making them a little saturated and salty. Mac & Cheese: This one wasn't quite for me--it felt more like a rich Alfredo pasta, and the heavy Gouda layer was a bit overpowering. Sweet Endings To finish, we shared the Warm Butter Cake, which was absolutely delicious! The ice cream was wonderful and the strawberries were so fresh and bright. The only tiny miss was the pink powdered garnish around the plate--it didn't quite match the quality of the rest of the dessert. A Gentle Suggestion While the vibe was nearly perfect, I did notice a small moment at the bar that gave me pause. One of the bartenders coughed and continued preparing drinks without stopping to wash their hands. In such a high-end space, a little extra attention to hand-washing rituals would go a long way in making guests feel completely comfortable! We were in Baltimore for a good time, but not a long time. We wanted to do one luxurious steakhouse outing, and the Rexton was the place we chose. Exceptional! Simply one of the best restaurants I've been to from the service to the food to the drinks! Not to mention it's really beautiful. We went for my birthday and when we got to the table it was a card waiting for me. For appetizers we got the caviar tots and oysters both delicious! For our meals we got lamb chops, sea bass, asparagus and crab Mac and cheese; none of which disappointed. And I had a raspberry sorbet as my birthday dessert. The Ruxton's ambiance was amazing. I loved their dimly lit rooms- perfect for an evening out. We went to HH and regular dinner service. The HH was good! The menu was solid with a lot of options to choose from and share. We ordered the burger, fries, Ceasar salad, and more. The drinks were okay though. I prefer the wine menu on HH over their cocktail menu. I also tried their caviar bites during dinner service- also good. And the ruxton butter cake was surely the star of the show! read more

First time in Baltimore and this was our first food stop. Went here for their happy hour. They have great drink AND food prices on their happy hour menu with pretty affordable pricing and a few $10 cocktails. They do charge a 3% facilities fee that you'll find on your bill at the end. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is lovely. While sitting at the bar I will say we did not get the best service. The staff was not friendly and every time we needed something we had to flag someone down. Staff were not attentive at the bar, may be a different story if you have a table. read more

Arrived at the Ruxton for date night and were greeted the door. We have a few minutes to take photos at the entrance and then were quickly seated. The inside is nice and totally gives date night vibes. The bar was packed as was the restaurant overall. I totally see how the reservations were all booked. The seating is a little snug as in some cases you are about 2 feet away from the next table. Where we were sitting was to the back of some bar seating so looking at them all night was a little strange. A curtain or something would be nice. A table came after us and were somehow waited on before us which almost made me leave but we decided to stay anyway. Our waiter came over and walked us through the menu. My wife ordered a lemon drop which did not last long. Delicious according to her. We skipped appetizers and went straight to out entrees. We ordered the following: Jail Salmon, Mac & Cheese Trio, Crab and Shrimp Risotto, and waffle fries. Before our entrees the Bread came. It was juicy and delicious. The salmon was a nice sized portion. Seasoned well. No issues. The Mac & Cheese Trio caught me off guard. I was not expecting three separate dishes of Mac & Cheese. I thought I would have all the meet in one dish so be prepared. It is a lot. The waffle fries were cold and tasted fairly bland. Salt was definitely missing. The crab and shrimp risotto was GREAT. My first time trying risotto and it was tasty, seasoned and delicious. Overall, I had a good experience . I will be back to try the steak. Service was good and the food was good for the most part.
