    Crab cake sandwich
    Jared M.

Staying in a hotel visiting and this place was recommended by the front desk lady and it was close by. Went for late lunch, pretty quick service (not very busy at this time). Seated quickly and the servers were very friendly and helpful. Got the crab cake sandwich which comes with fries or coleslaw. It was a very big crabcake portion, more than I thought it would be. Tried the crab soup which was white creamy soup with chunks of crab, was very good. Also ordered chicken tenders and fries from the kids menu and those were very very good :) kind of craving those as I write. Got the spiced rum punch, $12 not bad and great start to the vacation. I recommend this place. And get the crab cakes as that is "what they are known for."

Came here to get a seafood platter. We came on a slow afternoon. The ambiance was quiet and less hectic than an evening or weekend visit. We entered the carryout area, were greeted by a pleasant lady, and ordered the Jewel of the Sea seafood platter (with crabcake, shrimp and scallops) two sides (baked potato and veggie). Timbuktu has seating in this area to enjoy your food here and also has a liquor store to purchase packaged goods. There was also a large TV for viewing and an ATM onsite. You could also purchase bagged snacks and cold nonalcoholic beverages as well. They also have a dessert case with assorted sliced cakes and pies for purchase in addition to ready to go salads and sandwiches. Our food was ready in a decent amount of time. The platter looked good and upon tasting, all of the seafood fresh: the crabcake was a smaller version of what you would get in a traditional crabcake platter, but still delicious with low filler allowing the sweetness of the crabmeat to shine; the shrimp were broiled and fresh; the scallops were cooked perfectly with a great taste. The sides were good as well. All in all, a good platter to purchase when you want to expand on a traditional crabcake platter.

We hosted a dinner at this restaurant and it went great. The downstairs area was set up for a meeting and the staff was super attentive in serving about 50 people. You can probably go with a bit more people here before it gets uncomfortable. The A/V was a bit tricky at first, but once we got batteries for the controllers and an HDMI cable, we were off and running. Thanks to the staff for the help. I didn't organize the event, but while I was there, I just witnessed the people doing everything they could to tend to a bunch of hungry attendees. The food was good too! Chicken Alfredo, Ribs, and some warm crispy buns (who doesn't want that, right?). Excellent!!!

Dined here last night with my husband and another couple. The atmosphere was quiet there was only one other party there the service was excellent. Our server was dope. The crab dip was great. My salad was was good too. UMy virgin piña colada was very delicious. Unfortunately, when it came down to eating my entrée, I did not enjoy the broiled seafood platter. I had a huge crabcake that was broiled. I had steamed shrimp and I requested fried scallops to eat with a loaded, baked potato. Everything was bland.

While this is a local mainstay, the prices keep rising while the overall quality keeps dropping off. Everytime I come I feel like the waiters are surprised to see people and forgot how to do seating. Last time each course took forever to come out and it seemed due to a large private party. The seafood options are large and fresh, but I can't say it's anything particularly special anymore beyond that. The bread doesn't feel fresh, the desserts are pedestrian and likewise lacking anything unique. Atmosphere the lights are a haphazard mix, the chairs are old. The bathrooms were clean but had a truly horrible fake chemical scent I could barely breathe through. There's just no sense of comfort and being cared for. If you want to splurge for takeout I could say this is good, but if I want a special dinner out I'd go somewhere else.

Decent if you want a dining room environment and seafood. Altho the menu has all types of items to order. My favorite is the sampler platter ...... just found out they're have Maryland crabs all summer . Service is always slow . No matter when or where I feel like the kitchen takes forever ... I know I raved about Ann before but she also has gotten slow was on her darn phone for about 10 minutes before acknowledging me or even checking on her bar ....

My experience was good. My dad had the prime rib I tried a piece it was flavorful and well cooked . The crab cakes I ordered were good as well. I do feel like they were undercooked because I did taste a lot of batter which I didn't care for but the sheer size it should've been expected. The house salad was good though everything else I'd say was typical .

Dining area...plenty of space and good seating

My husband suggested we go on a little Sunday Funday adventure being that we were in this area. He stated this place apparently had really good seafood and with the crazy weekend I had, felt like this would bring my spirits up and it did :)))))) He recommended I try the crab cakes and he should've told me to only get one...or a kids meal- these crab cakes were HUGE!!!!! Just delicious lump crab meat and it paired well with my baked potato and coleslaw. To start we had side salads and my salad was also delicious and fresh! My hunnie ordered the broiled snapper and his meal was also delicious. I would venture back here if we are ever in the neighborhood. Plus my favorite coffee shop is literally 10 mins from here...and I'm always looking for a reason to venture there :))))) Anyhoo staff were welcoming and friendly. Our server was attentive and pleasant as well. The restaurant was clean and not really busy on a Sunday afternoon. They offer a variety of meal deals from steaks to pastas. Tuesday nights KIDS EAT FREE... I wish they had hush puppies on the menu! Anyhoo- excellent food, service with a smile and some qt with my hunnie...a perfect place for a Sunday Funday adventure if you ask me. Happy Yelping!

Food was alright - we tried the platter and it was a good amount of food, but it was lacking flavor. The fettuccine alfredo and pork ribs were probably the best part of our meals even though we got seafood as well. The ambiance is a bit over stimulating - a little old school inside with the interior design, with bright lights, a large mirror in the dining room, and flies kept flying around our food. Our server was very nice and on top of things. I went back for their comedy show in the basement section of the restaurant and it was a decent experience. Very diverse comedians.

Worth every penny! The crab cakes are ginormous and full of crab and the flounder fillet was bigger than my head, which is pretty big ( tears)-LOL. The restaurant was extremely clean, and the service was super friendly. This is definitely a spot. You should try out if you're visiting the city of Baltimore. My family and I had a great time.

Picked this place for a friends get together and so glad we did. Food was super delicious! We ordered the Timbuktu Hors D'oeuvres Platter, an awesome offering of mini crab cakes (8), large shrimps(8), scallops (8) & 2 half rack of baby back ribs We also ordered calamari, crab soups, crab cakes and a mushroom & Swiss burger & fries ( someone was craving a burger ‍) Everything was perfectly scrumptious!!! Service was good, just a couple hiccups like some of the food took awhile, had to wait for the French fries but otherwise not a biggie. Restaurant is comfortable & clean , nothing fancy but go for the food, so yummy !!!!

Seafood platter comes with two sides

The servers were very attentive and prompt. It's a large restaurant with ample seating and can accommodate groups. The portion sizes and variety of options is a plus compared to other seafood restaurants. We had the seafood pasta which is one if the few I've seen to have crab cake in it, a couple of shrimp would go well with it as it only comes with mussels. We also had the biggest seafood platter that comes with scallops, a stuffed shrimp, crab cake and shrimp. The scallops are ok but don't have the richest flavor so it might be better to get a different platter that has fish plus the option for fried shrimp or oysters. The crab cakes have the maximum amount of filler for me to still enjoy it, it's flavorful.

I went here for lunch. It was me and my family. Charlotte was my server. She was nice and informative. I purchased the Fried Seafood Platter, Rockefeller Oysters, and a strawberry margarita. My family enjoyed their food as well except my baby sister. She unfortunately found a eyelash in her food. They did remove her order, but she didn't want anything else. I also wanted to add that the outside of the restaurant is interesting. It looks like the restaurant share the parking lot with school busses and moving trucks....interesting.

Does it have a seafood smell? I'm invited to a Christmas Party there but I'm allergic to seafood and if the place has a seafood smell I won't be able to attend. But if it's well ventilated I should be good

The food was fresh and no fishy smells were noticed during our walk to the table.

Are there any vegan options here? Or things that could be made vegan?

There are a few options. However, they are known for their crab cakes...point being, don't expect the vegan options to warrant a return visit. You won't be hungry, but you won't be overwhelmed with options or flavor either.

I even confirmed with the cashier during our last visit because I thought that was really nice of them. The young lady cashiering this time around had no remorse or explanation but a "NO" just military or the coupon. We started with the fried calamari. The breading was light and the calamari was very tender. It was probably one of the best calamari appetizers we have had out of dozens of restaurants we have been to. For the main dishes, we had the rattlesnake pasta. This is a pasta dish made with rotisserie chicken, mushrooms, red yellow and green peppers in a Cajun Alfredo sauce. The sauce was not too spicy with just enough bite. It was excellent. I don't usually care for mushrooms but this dish was amazing. The portion sizes were huge. Enough, that we were able to make another meal for the two of us with the leftovers. For dessert we had the cheesecake with oreo cookie crust. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. She was helpful with suggestions. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and spacious. It is decorated with beautiful wood trim. The booths can easily sit six people each. The dining area is huge. I estimate that it can sit anywhere from two hundred to three hundred if not more guests. Soothing music was played throughout the restaurant. There is a bar serving mixed drinks and beer as well as soft drinks. The restrooms are spotless and just as beautiful as the rest of the restaurant. The rotisserie chicken is made fresh and cooked in a rotisserie pit right next to the kitchen. We will be going back with family to try their prime rib. Prices are slightly above average but warranted. You are paying for an elevated dining experience with both the food quality and ambiance. There is ample parking in a large parking lot. The restaurant also offers a separate dining area for special events with outdoor dining. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant.
