Great crispy pata and lechon kawali. Meat is tender and skin is crispy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute interior and losts of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My kids loved the pancit bihon. Very flavorful. Shanhi lumpia had great flavor as well. Tastes home made. We definitely will come back again! My kids loved it that much as well. Friendly staff and very attentive. Wished the rice portion was bigger to help cut the fat.

The food was really tasty. Service was quick but it was not busy when we got there, our server was friendly. We will be back to try other dishes. It was our first visit and we were very happy.

Authentic Filipino food and delicious! I am a regular diner because I am always satisfied with the food.

The last time we came was two years ago when it was owned by someone else and the menu was overly ambitious with the Mexican/Filipino fusion. That didn't go so well. I heard that a new owner took over so my kid and I decided to try them out today. We got there after 2pm and the lunch rush was just dying down. The first thing I noticed was their much more focused menu of just Filipino classics. A hopeful sign. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor pretty much stayed the same sans the Mexican stuff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were very friendly and told us to seat at a table of our choosing. Their special for the day was pinakbet, a melange of vegetables with pork belly. I decided to get that. My kid got the lechon kawali plate and I had to try their pork dinuguan plate, too. I have to say, I'm so glad that I gave this place another chance. The lechon kawali was perfectly done, crunchy skin and tender meat. The pinakbet is how my dad used to make it. I'm glad they stayed authentic and didn't skimp on the bittermelon. The dinuguan was tender and well balanced. I will have to come back to try the rest of the menu. Everything we ordered stayed in its true Filipino authentic, delicious, and reminiscent of home. I highly recommend.

I had such an amazing experience . I had the pork belly with rice and egg (Tocilog), and it was incredible -- so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I felt so welcomed and well taken care of from the moment I walked in. You can truly feel the warmth. I highly recommend this place.

It was our first time at the Manila Couve and will definitely be back! Really good Filipino food! Friendly staff and would highly recommend.

Truly authentic Filipino grub! And always a pleasant experience with the food servers. They had unique shape to the banana lumpia, which made it more crunchy. Yummy!

I wanted so bad to love this place. I have been looking for decent Filipino restaurant since I moved in the PDX area in 2012, I haven't found that yet, unfortunately :( Escabeche: the fish is not fried thoroughly, the sauce is nothing like the escabeche sauce. Dinugunan: mediocre. Nothing special. Sinigang: does not taste like sinigang. It's not sour at all! Crispy pata: This would have been good if they added more salt. It has the perfect crispiness to it. Not sure if I'm coming back :(

Yesterday we went to try Manila couve used to be Kuya's kitchen. And it was surprisingly delicious the Pancit was amazing and the Turons were even better - now here is the kick ...... if you are starving Do not come here - there is only 1person in the kitchen and one floating in between and 1 server also they made the food to order nothing pre cook so it takes time to get your food but all good comes to those that wait cause once we got our food it was delicious. Definitely will be back - Chef seems to have big Plans for this place menu wise so I am excited and ready to try on anything she cooks !

Showed up for a very late lunch at their Alberta location. Stepped up and ordered: Palabok-Rice noodles, seafood sauce, ground pork, sautéed shrimp, pork crackling, fried garlic. First, I should have added an egg for $1. This was a little more bland than traditional palabok. Noodles were also a little thicker than I like. Its good, but I do favor the more traditional palabok. Adobong Gulay-Green beans and fried tofu in a tamari and vinegar sauce. My sister had been hoping for the Kare Kare, but they were sold out, so she opted for the Adobong Gulay. I tried a bite and found it tasty. Lumpia-Good lumpia. Says it has longanisa sausage as a filling, but it wasn't the usually strong longanisa taste. Ube Bibingka-ube flavored rice cake, toasted coconut. Not as heavy as a traditional bibingka. It was fluffier (reminded me of marshmallows). And I ate every bite. Good solid filipino food cart.

It handful of tables inside with a nice covered patio outside. The vibes were great... until they weren't. We greeted our waiter with "Mabuhay" in which he replied, "What?" confused- it's literally painted on the wall my guy. Crazy way to start dinner. Food came out impossibly slow. The restaurant wasn't full so I'm not too sure why it took as long as it did. They didn't mention coursing it out so we assumed they did. Drinks were all on point, everyone loved the Filipino inspired cocktails. Ube Colada was the table's fave. We ordered a bunch of things: 2 Skewers of the Bistek [$12 each], 4 Skewers of BBQ Pork [$10 each]. Bistek could have used a little more lemon/citrus as Bistek is known to be a little sour but the steak was amazingly juicy and tender. BBQ Pork always hits, super good! Did the Pancit Bihon [$17], it was "okay," have had better. Sisig [$17] was good as well, like the "pork bits" different way of prepping the dish. Diniguan [$27] as my most favorite part of the meal. I was sooo impressed with how that one came out. Loved that dish so much. Such an innovative way of presenting the dish. It was pork chop (cut up) with diniguan sauce on top (not drenched) with shishito peppers. OMG mouthwatering. LOVE that dish. Vibes were high until we asked where the other dish was which was the Lechon Manok [$27]. Our waiter kind of gave us an attitude saying that it was coming & that it took a while to prep. Mind you we ordered everything at the same time. That wasn't even it. The chicken came out we were cutting it, and then he saw us kind of struggle a bit, so he took the chicken and started tearing it apart with his hands... That should have already been a red flag. He said his hand were clean. Then he comes back like literally 10 minutes later asking if we wanted a box. Bro, the chicken barely came out give us time to enjoy the chicken you tore apart. He asked if it was good & we said it was 'alright.' Cause it was. Wasn't impressed with that dish at all. He left us alone for a bit and then came back saying, "I feel like I'm not doing enough, do you guys need anything?" If you were bored, just say that. Whatever, he lost us at that point. We saw him smoking outside, so hopefully his hands were clean. The food was great, the service was whatever.

While the kitchen takes its time and the pricing details can be a little confusing at the register, the sheer amount of food you receive makes it well worth the wait. Trio Plate (4/5): An absolutely massive sampler that provides enough food to easily split between two or three people. The container is packed so full that it requires a rubber band to stay shut, with extra items overflow-packed into separate containers. The individual proteins are a bit of a mixed bag, but the deep frying technique is delicious: Ono Chicken (4/5): Perfectly crispy chicken thighs that are deep-fried fresh to order with no old oil taste. However, I felt like the sweet and savory garlic shoyu sauce described on the menu was lacking the depth of flavor I was expecting. Dynamite Pork Katsu (4/5): The highlight of the plate. It also had a crispy light batter with no greasy residue. The spicy mayo and katsu "dynamite" sauce carry the dish, though all the sauce is concentrated on the top layer, leaving the pieces at the bottom a bit bland. Meat Jun (3/5): My least favorite of the options. The egg and flour batter felt sparse, and the thinly sliced marinated beef was tough to chew from the heavy amount of tendon. Sides (5/5): The singular scoop of rice is a massive portion on its own and perfectly cooked. Swapping the second scoop for mac salad is highly recommended, which was delicious, perfectly balanced, and not overly weighed down by heavy mayo. Logistics Tip: Arriving on a weekend afternoon shortly after opening means walking into a very busy place. Be sure to grab a physical menu from the stand near the cashier before jumping into the line to order. Note that the menu lacks transparency regarding upcharges: you may encounter unexpected $1-2 additions for certain premium meats in the Trio combo, as well as a $2 charge to swap a rice scoop for mac salad. Parking is highly limited, so expect to hunt for a spot along the surrounding neighborhood streets.
