We came here pretty close to closing on a Saturday and it was rather empty, but the staff were just so kind and great to us! The building from the outside is mostly unassuming other than their outside cover area, but as you walk in, you immediately feel a great and cozy atmosphere from their decor and their open kitchen! As for the food, it was my first time having traditional filipino food and everything tasted fantastic! My friend who I came with said the food tasted exactly like it did back in the Philipines! Finally! A Filipino place down in the couve area. They used to be a Mexican Filipino fusion place so we didn't come here before. But now it's just all Filipino. YAY! And one that serves lechon!? Say less. I would say one of the things that we hope would improve is the consistency. Our lechon platter that we got the first time was served in its own plate with rice on the side. The next time we went, it was just merely a few pieces with LOTS of lemongrass and garlic pieces. And that was a very sad plate. The service is great! Lots of Parking. If you're new to Filipino food, they will definitely give you a recommendation. Bulalo- delicious bone broth and such a hearty addition to any other entree. Always got to have the soup with my meal. Sisig- this is how I like mine made, with pork ear pork belly. Even balance of mayo to calamansi. Served on a sizzling platter so the egg can cook to perfection. Sooo good. I always get scared with how oily this dish can get, but you can tell they strained it a bit to avoid it swimming in grease. Definitely a must get! Lechon- CHEFS KISS! Tender, smoky, with all the right spices. Not overly salted (which I was nervous about) served with a side of mang Tomas. They reheat it so the skin is served nice and crunchy! They roast their own belly / whole pig too! Palabok- YUM. I could order this over and over again. Just a staple noodle dish aside from the pancit bihon. Flavor is on point and just the right amount of sauce to noodle ratio. Halo halo- summer must have! And they serve it nice and big. Good way to end your meal with a mixture of jellies, beans, flan, ube, jackfruit, banana and evaporated milk. They hold events here as well, call ahead to reserve! They also have lots of seating and outdoor seating too! I think they're currently on Uber Eats for take out. read more

The last time we came was two years ago when it was owned by someone else and the menu was overly ambitious with the Mexican/Filipino fusion. That didn't go so well. I heard that a new owner took over so my kid and I decided to try them out today. We got there after 2pm and the lunch rush was just dying down. The first thing I noticed was their much more focused menu of just Filipino classics. A hopeful sign. The decor pretty much stayed the same sans the Mexican stuff. The servers were very friendly and told us to seat at a table of our choosing. Their special for the day was pinakbet, a melange of vegetables with pork belly. I decided to get that. My kid got the lechon kawali plate and I had to try their pork dinuguan plate, too. I have to say, I'm so glad that I gave this place another chance. The lechon kawali was perfectly done, crunchy skin and tender meat. The pinakbet is how my dad used to make it. I'm glad they stayed authentic and didn't skimp on the bittermelon. The dinuguan was tender and well balanced. I will have to come back to try the rest of the menu. Everything we ordered stayed in its true Filipino authentic, delicious, and reminiscent of home. I ate here with a friend of mine last May. The food took 1 hour and 15 mins to come out. When it did it was so greasy. I ordered a couple of items but never came out she said they were short staffed. I saw a guy leaving couldn't wait for his food. Staff is overly friendly to the point its no longer professional. Bicol express swimming in grease. First thing first. This location deserves to succeed. The folks here work hard and are exceedingly kind. The type of people you want to see win. That being said, the food is being forced into mediocrity by a menu that competes with itself. I know that's their whole shtick but it doesn't work. Maybe it would if it was fusion food, but this isn't that. There is a page on the menu for filipino food and a separate page for mexican food. In order to succeed they're going to need to focus on one or the other and create a dish good enough to draw customers to their location. Not much foot traffic happening here. The pancit was fairly tasty and the adobo chicken was nice. I wouldn't recommend the lechon. Fingers crossed they simplify and create an MVP dish. Had some serious pregnancy cravings for fried pompano and halo halo... Manila Couve delivered! Agnus was kind, funny, and incredibly helpful. She even walked my food out to my car seeing I was carrying a baby. Food was made fresh on the spot and was delicious; everything I was looking for. I don't mind the higher prices because the quality of the food matches. Bonus that I didn't have to go all the way into Portland to satisfy a craving. Only complaint is that the smallest order of lumpia they have is 15 pieces. Excited to try more of the menu but will definitely be returning in the near future. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Okay, props for the Mexican-Filipino extensive menu. If this place was located in Downtown or a trendy area I could justify the high prices, but it's in an off the beat and path strip mall. The chips are tasty when they first hit the table as they're hot. The salsa: meh. The chilaquiles were sub-par, maybe decent. For one, they top them with overdone large curd scrambled eggs rather than sunny side or over easy. And the sauce just doesn't quite work. The server was very friendly, but then nowhere to be found. Well Duck Tails is gone and now is Kuya's Casa Kitchen with a split menu with Mexican and Filipino options. I think they are targeting the Duck Tails patrons with upscale Americanized Mexican fare and in that regard they seem to have succeeded although pricier than Duck Tails. They are also filling the void of Filipino food in Clark County and unfortunately, in that regard, it is work in progress. So this is how it scored: 1. Grilled Chicken Street Taco Combo $14.75 - well my wife really liked them and she is kind of picky. 4/5 2. Lumpia Shanghai $10 - the lumpia was good but the sauce was too sweet. 3.5/5 3. Tapsilog $15 - the fried rice was OK but the marinated flank steak was tough and dry. A little cornstarch or baking soda would fix this, just saying. 3/5 It's a new place and there are some bugs they are working out. All that said, having a Filipino restaurant in the Couve is a huge step forward and wish them the best and will return to try the pancit palabok and Lechon. Check it out. read more

I ordered the lumpia to go and I also had horchata. I sat and drank my horchata with another order of lumpia. Not a fan of the lumpia. Maybe the Mexican food is better? I didn't see a Filipino person in the kitchen. I like the idea of Mexipino food. Señor Sisig is definitely better than this place and let me tell you, not a fan of Señor Sisig, come at me! The meat is too rough and salty. However, they're in the Bay Area and have lots of competition. Vancouver is NO Filipino restaurant except for this. My mom recently visited me from the Bay Area. Ok. Been here before for the tacos. Got an Asada, Suadero, Al pastor and Buche. Buche was the only one with good flavor. The others were actually bland... Today I decided to give it one more try... Got a half Buche & Asada burrito. $19.50 ?!??? I didn't even get double meat. Truly barely got any damn meat, I can prolly count how many pieces of Asada were there. The Asada was gray and bland. Let it fry/grill for a few more minutes y'all, grill/sear marks equal FLAVOR! Add salt! Same for the buche. This time it was served in long pieces. Boiled, not fried. Bland. Such a disappointment. They gave me my burrito smothered in a sauce with cheese, I didn't want this. I wanted a regular burrito, which is what I stated. I asked for guacamole, sour cream and tomatoes in the burrito, they put it on the side. Nothing against the service, they were real pleasant. But c'mon! I wanted to support local filipino restaurants and called Kuya's Casa Kitchen on a Wednesday to inquire if I could get a smaller tray of 50 lumpia. They said they could do 60 count and quoted me $60. I called back on Thursday to place my order which they took. I received a call back and they told me 60 lumpia would be $80. I said they quoted me $60 yesterday and he replied that price was wrong. I told them that their website says 100 ct/half tray of lumpia is $95, so it makes sense for me to just get 100. He then tells me that price is wrong, but It's ON THEIR WEBSITE! Bottom line: I cancelled my order and will not give my money to a business that doesn't stick to their quoted and online prices. read more

Manila Couve came up in our search and we decided to try it, just from looking at the website and reading the previous reviews. While I was sitting waiting for my food, I seen this Filipino woman returning her Filipino food and wanted her money back. I overheard her saying something about the pancit. Well I thought, glad I didn't order the pancit. I ordered the lechon kawali which should be easily cooked and fresh. I got home and as you see in the picture the lechon was old and refried again. For $15 I got old food and none of the skin of the pork was crunchy. They had one waitress for so many tables and seeing customers very frustrated. We got 4 items and it came to about $60 The food was really hit and miss. We felt the portions to the price of food didn't line up. The pancit was $12 and we barely got any pancit. Garlic fried rice barely had any garlic. Lumpia was store bought, was hoping for in house made and tasted like it was in the warmer for a bit. $10 for 10 small lumpia. The pork adobo was tasty (but salty). (2 1/2 thumbs up out of 5). The mongo bean soup was tasty and flavorful. The pancit was tasteless. It needed pepper & salt (either salt or soy sauce). I took it home and added more carrots & celery and soy sauce and chicken pieces. I also finished the meal with leche flan. I don't recommend getting it. It was so dense and the caramel flavoring was off...it wasn't custardy like my mom's flan. Overall, service really, really good (I wouldn't sweep the floor with patrons in restaurant). We Tried again, two years later, and it was worse. We tried the Manila Couve again to be fair. We are Filipina! First, they delivered a dirty blue bottle with water and two glasses. We did not touch the water. All menu prices are 16 to 22 dollars!!!! Appetizers $16.00.! I ordered Pancit Bihon ($17) with chicken (per the menu print). I received very dry rice noodles with a lot of pork belly and no flavor. I took a bite and thought I had a piece of glass in my tooth. It was chopped up crispy skin. Also included were 4 green pea pods and 5 small pieces of carrot. My husband's order of Kare Kare ($18) arrived at the table 30 minutes later! He was not impressed. I did not eat the pancit. The waitress asked if we needed a box, and we told her i did not receive what i ordered and that the menu said Chicken Pancit Bihon. She spoke to the cook and then returned to tell us "We don't do chicken Pancit, only Pork." This was on their menu, but they don't prepare it????? I checked the menu 3 times and showed it to the waitress. Perhaps this is why we were the only Filipina in the house on a Saturday at 1pm. Embarrassing.
