Finally got a chance to go here after they opened. They did have a lot of bad reviews when they opened but they probably have fixed some of those. I will say with the price of eating out today, the restaurant business is more unforgiving. The service and food need to be spot on. We went here at 4:00 pm to check them out in spite of the bad reviews. We ordered a Vegetarian Fresh Lumpia and Dinuguan. We paid around $33.00 plus tip so closer to $38.00 for bad food. There is no other way to describe it. For example, The most basic staple food of the Philippines, Rice, was cooked to an almost porridge like state. How can someone screw rice up so badly? The dinuguan is supposed to be a stew but it was basically dry. No stew or soup. And the Vegetarian Fresh Lumpia was basically tasteless. Being that they are vegetables, they don't have much flavor so this dish relies on the sauce and they totally missed on that as well. The good, the service was quick for us, 6 minutes f rom ordering the food was out. We Tried again, two years later, and it was worse. We tried the Manila Couve again to be fair. We are Filipina! First, they delivered a dirty blue bottle with water and two glasses. We did not touch the water. All menu prices are 16 to 22 dollars!!!! Appetizers $16.00.! I ordered Pancit Bihon ($17) with chicken (per the menu print). I received very dry rice noodles with a lot of pork belly and no flavor. I took a bite and thought I had a piece of glass in my tooth. It was chopped up crispy skin. Also included were 4 green pea pods and 5 small pieces of carrot. My husband's order of Kare Kare ($18) arrived at the table 30 minutes later! He was not impressed. I did not eat the pancit. The waitress asked if we needed a box, and we told her i did not receive what i ordered and that the menu said Chicken Pancit Bihon. She spoke to the cook and then returned to tell us "We don't do chicken Pancit, only Pork." This was on their menu, but they don't prepare it????? We visited this new eatery in our neighborhood this evening hoping to sample both their Filipino as well as their Mexican menu. My wife & I shared an order of the Lechon Kawali (Deep fried pork belly) & the Kuya's Burrito w/shredded beef. The Lechon was amazing...it was fresh and moist with just the right amount of crispy skin & seasoning.  It was as good as we could possibly hope for. The Kuya's burrito was filled with slow-cooked shredded beef and not overly spicy but very tasty. The servings were just right and were in line with what you'd expect for the price...even though we did not order any extras, we could barely finish the two dinners we ordered. This was a Saturday night and was fairly busy but we were seated right away. Our server's name was Erika and she was not only attentive and provided excellent service but was also very friendly and made us feel welcome. Now I know that there were some very mixed reviews in the first few days after the restaurant had initially opened, but whatever kinks they may have experienced certainly seemed to have been worked out by the end of this first week, and I'd highly recommend it. We are always looking for new restaurants to try in Vancouver and Kuya's Casa Kitchen is now at the top of our list of local favorites. We will definitely be back soon! read more

We tried it today (02/24/2023). We order crispy pata, palabok, pancit bihon, lumpia Shanghai, dinuguan, bicol express, garlic rice, and halo halo. The crispy pata is freshly cooked, hot and crispy. Palabok probably need a little chitcharon and less salt, pancit bihon is ok, lumpia is very delicious, dinuguan is good but too much ginger, bicol express probably need more chili pepper (spicy), garlic rice is very good. The halo halo is huge! It takes 3 person to eat it. The staff is very friendly. The place is very homey. I highly recommended to those like to try or crave Filipino food. They even use Uber eats for delivery. I'm definitely coming back to try the other menu. read more

Overall happy with the Filipino cuisines. Longanisa and pancit are a good standard for taste and quality. Lumpia is better than most. Some might complain about the price and amount given for lumpia but keep in mind lumpia has intensive labor and prep work. read more

My family and I went here today and absolutely loved it. They have a great mixture of traditional Mexican food and Filipino food. The service was great, bright and cheery decor showing pride for both cultures, and food was very delicious. Since it was our first time we all stuck to Filipino dishes and ordered tapsilog, bangsilog, and lechon kiwali. We were not disappointed. We all enjoyed our meals. Wonderful chicken adobo and arroz con pollo make the world a tastier place! I ordered the adobo and my husband got the pollo, thinking we'd have a battle of chicken-and-rice dishes from the Philippines and Mexico. I ordered on grub hub for pick up. As soon as I picked up my order, they said that the order was not received through grub. But they made sure they made our order right away. She rang our order up and told her we've already paid through grub and said that they don't use them for online ordering because grub have their menu prices wrong. She could've told me that the first time. But they did took care of it and got our refund through grub, and took about couple days to get our refund back. The food was, "ok." I had longsilog and pancit bihon, Garlic fried rice that comes with lonsilog could've been seasoned more, and they should've include sauce with the longanisa. For the pancit, a little more chicken will be good and the other veggies that comes with it. We visited Miya's this Saturday. It was the first Saturday they were open so we knew they might be working though some kinks. Both dishes my husband and I had were very good. He had the torta and I had a breakfast burrito with carnitas. The carnita meat was very moist and good. We also ordered their basic margarita and the jalapeños one. They were not super sweet which was nice. The jalapeño one was super flavorful and not really spicy. They were having some issues with a breaker and I think our waitress didn't know the menu very well but was trying hard. Prices were high but these days it did t seem out of line. read more

Went and had dinner there tonight first thing I noticed they didn't do too much to the decor from previous owner which was DuckTales. Mexican and Filipino cuisine menu was too big too many item ordered street tacos rice and beans were cold meat was dry and tough. Also had a chicken quesadilla which tasted absolutely terrible chicken was dry burnt tortilla and way too much cheese service sucked I would not recommend this place. While we were there former customers of the old establishment came in looked it over and said that that's okay. They made a good decision leaving . Needless to say but I will never be back. I've been waiting to visit this place, I love Filipino food and thought it would be so nice to be able to get it locally. So disappointing. Ordered the pork adobo and lumpia. The adobo was inedible, so incredibly salty, didn't see any signs of the black peppercorns. Adobo is supposed to be pork chunks boiled in vinegar, water, soy sauce with whole black peppercorns. Boiled and then stewed until it is falling apart. The best part is the way the vinegary soft whole peppercorns melt into the shredded pork. When I have had it and made it it is shredded like pulled pork and served over rice. Not a ton of soy. This tasted like it was pure soy sauce and a little vinegar and it was in whole chunks. It was awful. The lumpia was poorly made, the taste was OK but nothing special. The people were nice, service was fast. Maybe I should have ordered the Mexican food? But I came for the adobo, and I won't be back. read more

We were visiting from Phoenix and had the craving for good ole Filipino food. I googled places to eat and chanced upon Kuya's Casa Kitchen. We ordered lechon kawali with rice, sisigsilog, sinigang, and pork adobo. My kids are picky eaters, but they loved their orders. The lechon kawali was super crispy and the sisig was bomb. I was pretty happy with the adobo because that is how I cook mine at home and I how I envisioned a good adobo dish that I was craving for at the moment. The sinigang was hearty and had lots of veggies. The chips and salsa were oh-so-good as well. Prices were decent and service was quick. Our server Erica was so personable. This place is close to our house and we are so excited they are in the neighborhood. We've been multiple times, and I disagree with a lot of these reviews. I see most of them are from Feb, and maybe after they first opened they were struggling a bit. The food has been fresh, and delicious every single time we've eaten here. We've eaten from both the Mexican side and the Filipino side of the menu. The lumpia are delicious! Honestly there isn't anything food wise that we haven't thought was wonderful. I do wish their drinks were a little stronger. That would be the only thing I'd like to see change. For those who are complaining about the prices. I have to wonder where they are eating, when they go out. Is the food more valuable based on where the place is located or the quality of what you are being given? How many chains do we need, because the food here is better than any chain in town, and their prices are no higher than any of them. They are a little family owned business who's overhead is hitting a lot closer to home, than the chain who doesn't feel it so deeply on a slow night. We live in the neighborhood and waited until tonight to visit this new restaurant. staff was super nice and attentive. Decor is okay, nice and clean. We ordered Mexican, and went with our standard basic dishes for comparison. I ordered Chili Verde and my wife ordered an enchilada tamale combo plate. Food was hot and plated as one typically finds. Rice was standard, but good. Refried beans were tasty, not runny with a good bean flavor. My wife reported that the Tamale was good, but not great, and the enchilada was the same. Solid, but not noteworthy. My chili verde came with pipping hot white corn tortillas. The verde sauce was outstanding, really liked it, great balance of sweet and tart. The pork chunks had good flavor, thanks to the verde sauce, but were pretty tough and chewy. Needs longer braise, or more time in the pressure cooker. All in all, the food was tasty and the flavors were better balanced than other Mexican fare in the 'Couv. We will be back, want to try the Molcajete, the Kuya's seafood special, and the chili relent burrito. read more
