I was here Friday afternoon. There were only 2 people eating. Service was slow. I noticed as food was being put on my tray, the lady was very hesitant and picky how much and which pieces to put on my plate. The food was lukewarm warm. This restaurant is located at a beautiful shopping center. Unfortunately the interior of the restaurant needs major work. Its definitely a hole in the wall which is fine but it didn't seem sanitary. The food on the buffet look like Its been sitting there all day. It was also not hot enough(temp danger zone) when it was given to me. Its definitely a family restaurant...there was a handful of people behind the counter...one person was grabbing food from the buffet to Go eat. I just Got The vibe of the restaurant being someone's personal home. The food was plentiful and a good price but I was not impressed with the taste. What's the worst thing someone can bring to a potluck? (A) One 2-liter bottle of off brand cola. (B) A pack of hotdogs with no buns. (C) Something from the grocery store with a reduced price/day-old sticker STILL on it! This is always up for a hot debate...along with what's the best thing to bring to a potluck. How about what's one of the best crowd pleasers? LUMPIA! I did a price comparison for seven Filipino restos from SF (Excelsior/Balboa Park) to DC/Colma area and Manila Eatery had the second most reasonable price: 100 pc lumpia shanghai for $40! The first is at Fil-Am ($37) but good luck trying to reach a live person on the phone. The other restos I contacted are charging $50-$55. Manila Eatery offers chicken or pork lumpia shanghai. I called in and ordered 100 pc, half pork and half chicken lumpia shanghai. They need several hours' notice for pick-up (cc's accepted). The lumpia shanghai is rolled tight and uniform, cut into thirds and fried to a golden-brown, crunchy deliciousness. The pork is more flavorful and moister than the chicken. But, a dip into the sweet and sour sauce...problem solved. They add vents to the takeout boxes (no tray) so the freshly fried lumpia shanghai will stay crunchy. Overall, pretty solid lumpia shanghai and the price is right. If you're looking to bring some savory, crunchy deliciousness to your next potluck, Manila Eatery got you! read more

This place looks unassuming but the chefs who are cooking the food here is excellent. Food is SOOO good here! The taste and quality taste very clean and authentic! The beef mechado beef is super tender , the chicken adobo sauce has the right amount of tang and hint of sweetness, the Ukoy is a much bigger fritter than other Ukoy I get, and they use prawns not just one but two huge prawns pieces and not shrimp . Honestly the food is taste a lot better than alot of the other Filipino restaurants in south city and Daly City that are considered good. The service is great and the place well kept and super clean. I'm glad these folks made it through the god-awful period of the pandemic when a lot of small businesses, especially mom-n-pop type establishments found it hard to stay in business. This family business appears to remain strong and their food selections are ample and very good. I really enjoy the warmth and hospitality of these folks. I'm a fan of fried marinated bangus and these people, out of the many restaurants I've tried, so the best job. One other bonus about this place, there's a lot of parking. Fantastic Filipino Food!! Manila Eatery has that cafeteria-style mom and pop type feeling right when you walk in and their food is truly authentic. The 4/5 stars is just because their cleanliness could be a little better and their menu options aren't always available. I think they are still getting on their feet after COVID - a few times they have been out of some of the staple dishes (longaniza, lumpia, beef stew). It's sad because when they do have it, the flavor is on point! I'm just waiting for their standards to get back to give them that 5 stars read more

I had family visiting from Virginia and they specifically requested for Filipino food, specifically, chicken lumpia. Of course, I'm happy to oblige since I don't eat pork. So glad Manila Eatery was open on a Monday and most of all, serve chicken lumpia which is rare. Man, I ordered 5 orders and there were 8 of us. I'm bummed I didn't get a chance to take a pic of everyone's order. Once they sat down, they started to eat. Staff: there was a nice lady who helped us out. We weren't familiar w the dishes so we were asking lots of questions. It's not a fancy place but food is not bad either. It's served buffet style and you choose between 2-3 items. This way, you can have more than one main entree. Food: we ordered chicken adobo (could use more chicken breasts or thighs to have more meat), chicken lumpia ( must have been good cuz I only got one. They are a bit tinker than what I'm used to) fried fish (it wasn't too greasy) longanisa (I was told it was delicious, pancit, nilaga and turon for dessert. Price: is very reasonable for the portions. Location/Parking: restaurant is located at Colma Metro shopping center so there's plenty of parking spaces. I'm addition before or after you can walk off what you've eaten and go shopping. This place may not fancy but food is good it gets busy during lunch time. I have been coming to Manila Eatery for a few weekends now due to visiting my Mom in the hospital and she always asks that I bring her some Filipino food. This place opens fairly early, food is always hot & ready, the ladies who serve at the bar are always really friendly and helpful. They serve their dishes turo-turo style (like a buffet) so all you have to do is choose your entree (either one entree or two) with a combination of rice or pancit (noodles) - pretty similar to how you'd order at a Panda Express. They offer the traditional items for breakfast like longanisa, daing na bangus (fried milkfish), adobo, etc. I don't see very many dessert options but, then again, I'm usually only here during breakfast. I'm sure they have halo-halo on the menu but I just hadn't noticed. Price range for a combo platter $10-$12 approximately. All depends on whether you choose one item or two. Food is really good. There's not much to eat around 280 Metro Center, it was either Manila Eatery or SweetHoney. Order at the counter, seat & clean up after yourself. The staff was so friendly to explain some of the food to us and accommodate our request for dark meat. We ended up ordering a rice box with two items, chicken adobo and longanisa. It was two scoops of rice, about 4 pieces of chicken and two small sausages for $12.25. Got some lumpia too, $1 for 3. The chicken adobo was tender, but a little too tart for my palate. Very friendly service! During Covid, dine-in is not available. Just pick from the line up of food or maybe call in your order. We were visiting the area so we stopped by here looking for some Filipino treats. Come early because they were all out of food at the last hour of closing, totally understandable. I was lucky to still get fried bangus, Sinigang, and Sago't Gulaman. Not a lot of Filipino restaurants offer this. From Bayhill to Metro Colma, Manila Eatery has been my family's go-to turo-turo spot. Family owned with good Filipino comfort food. We have never been completely dissatisfied with this establishment. The flavor of their dishes is consistent while portions and pricing is subject to changes in our economy. It's a typical turn-turo where you literally point to whichever dish you want, the ambience is minimal, it's comfort food so one can't expect an upscale environment. Service is also consistent and the staff are always friendly. The trick is to know what time of day to get at their dishes, you snooze you lose. If I can recommend my top dish, it's their chicken Mungo. It's the best delivery vehicle for bagoong next to Kare-Kare. read more

After spending 3 nights in Pescadero CA where there's no Asian food within 30 mile radius, we had lunch here on the way back home to SF. This no nonsense Filipino eatery hit the spot fabulously. Auntie behind the counter was super nice, explaining everything to me patiently. We had chicken adobo, pork adobo, bistek, and tupik (first time). There's also soy sauce and banana ketchup self service station. Favorite was the pork adobo, just the right balance of savory, sour, and sweet. The chewiness was also just right, not too mushy, not too tough, had a bounce to the bite. I love it! Tupik was a Mochi cake wrapped in banana leaf? Had a faint taste of either pandan leaf or coconut. Not super sweet. I will certainly come back to try all the fish dishes for dinner! Thank you auntie! read more

Finally found a Filipino restaurant where the food isn't sitting in a pool of oil and fat. This is my go-to spot for any "silog". The longsilog with garlic rice and eggs over easy is my happy breakfast. The beef mechado and Shanghai lumpia is my happy lunch. I'm missing the days when you could sit and eat in. Nice quiet spot in the 280 metro mall for some good Filipino cooking that reminds you of home. Always full and satisfied! A definite recommend! Support local family owned businesses! read more

I never give a place a one star rating unless I give it multiple chances...now that you've read the disclaimer, here goes. Let me start from the end. We all walked out of this place after lunch, raving about the water. Yes, the water. It was clear, cold, and readily available at the self service counter. I'm not sure if the water chef was also the one who made the food. Adobo was bloody. Not enough to give it one star, but enough for me to put it down and try the pinakbet. Pinakbet was sweet and salty. I love a good pinakbet, but this one I could not stomach. Meat on the adobo was tough, which indicates a cheaper cut was used. As for the daing na bangus, I just stopped eating it after one bite. I hate giving one star ratings, but four strikes in one sitting deserves it. read more
